I do wonder what to press when this comes up about 1 mile into a journey. What I want it to do is just do the ******* update next time the car is parked, I don't really care to read the details, Perhaps the question should be 'Read details' and 'Perform update'

When I had my Octy (1.4TSi) I found tyre pressures and tyre choice made a huge difference to MPG - Personally the goodyear would not have been my choice. Engine oil level also made a difference (to the line or hafway down)

You can download the map data from https://updateportal.skoda-auto.com/en-GB (needs your VIN) unzip it and pur it onto a USB-C memory stick. put the stick into a USB socket and do menu > settings > system information > update software. the data from the USB stick will gradually get copied to the hard disk (mib 3) The VW site seens to have more up-to-date mapping (MIB3 seeems to = Discover Plus) - don't know if you should cross brands on this. as for me, I still cannot set primary user (contact custome services) - perhaps I need to use a dealer with a guy with a thicker anorak.

Usually skoda put a big sticker onnthe metal under the carpet in the boot, with codes for all the factory fitted options.

Take the glove off under the steering out. Open it, it has a couple of spring clips stopping if flopping completely forward, then give it a tug .. it votes off. As does the cheek of the dash the door kitchen its closed.

It does fit but it's tight and awkward - fold the seats down, then feed the edge by the cack bumper in first. The wheel is too big to fit in the luggage space in the boot - it has to ho go in the spare wheel well. To make it easy, the plastic wheel retainer screw comes out if you trust it ¼ of a turn once the tension is off it

Absolutely. The tyre us a day or two away if you need one - and the sidewalls are thin and easy yo damage. You need to have the spare wheel if yoo need not to havevthe car laid up due to needing a tyre. (Looking forward to the day when they need replacing and can fit tyres with a better fuel economy rating)

I wired the nextbase 422 via a 2 way switch so I could run it normal when ignition on ot switch to always on for dodgy oaces like sainsburys car park where they do hit and run. With permanent power & parking mode the nextbwse occasionally froze and needed a reset, thus way it resets when the power is off.

Nextbase 422, wire to oermznent supply with parking mode. Found the camera occasionally jammed up needing a rest due to some random firmware bug. Now wired without parking mode but with a 2 way switch fitted to the back of the driver glove box. Has 3 positions 1. Powered from rear wire circuit (on ignition) normal use 2. Off (not used) 3. Cigarette lighter circuit - permanent power (for supermarket carlpafks, street parking, etc, where people do hit and run - surprisingly regularly nowadays). This position is a power drainer.

Ive now got the sensors and am seeking the opportunity to fit (or get them fitted). Interestingly the fault comes and goes - seems strange that two sensors are faulty or none? Anyone got views?

Octavia Mk3 - Sept 2014 I've started getting a loud alarm from the back of the car after breaking and if driving slowly - sounds like i'm about to reverse into someone and it'ts real close. Sorry for waking such an old thread, but the thread heading fits... My Octavia III 1.4tsi is coming up to 3 years old, The car data (accessible via the amundsen Mib1) says I have an "inspection service" coming up in about a month, which is also when the car is due it's first MOT test. The next oil service is over a year away. I bought the car at 16 months old, the previous owner got a service done at a year and the dealer set some of the timers so they no longer tally with the schedule you'd expect, It did have an oil service sept. last year. The car does 3000-4000 miles a year mostly on longer runs, a lot of the time it's just parked for days (we have a fabia we use as a runabout). Now it strikes me that what is in the inspection service is actually covered by the MOT - Is it worth doing the interim, or just get the counter reset ... then at 4 years do oil, filters, spark plugs, brake fluid, etc.?

An electric sliding gate is the real answer or a boom like those used on car parks & level crossings. No one can criticise the use of a gate.

The reason you need to format to 4k segments is because files on the card are stored in whole segments. If you store the tiniest file it uses a segment ... if your segment size is 32k (the windows default), that's 32k on the card used up. All file sizes get rounded up the same way and makes a big difference to space reserved when there are hundreds of files. Also Windows writes a hidden data recovery directory to the card. If the files don't fit try running "services.msc' (just type it in next to the start button), then stop the services called search and storage before formatting the card. You can restart the services after the card has been removed or just restart windows.

Put a bollard or three in made from 4x8 sleeper sections, they only need to be 20cm tall on the road side and 30cm tall on the garden side. You'll get a nice selection of car bumpers, etc. Sleepers are about £15 each

People talk about RNS310 / RNS315. (does it use V9 cards as mentioned on ebay item 282283336168) I've not updated it since last year - there was a post about 6 updates and the SDcard has had it due to there being 6 slots for encryption keys then once all are used, you're stuffed (is this a fable?) - I've just downloaded ECE 2017/2018 but not applied it to the card in case I wipe the card and the update gets rejected on the 6 counts and out thing ... then I have nothing.

Fan heater stuck between the front seats blowing towards screen, long mains lead, switch on 10 minutes before you want to use the car. De-ices car wit a bonus that the car is warm inside long enough for the car heater to come on. (requires car on driveway)
