Not many needed mate. She is just ready for the MOT now, Which i need the ££ to move her to the center and then pay for the Tax&insurance. Only real updates, The air in the brakes seemd to be an air locked M/C, I bleed the M/C and i seem to have brakes back. Did a little more work on the bumper, The Std mk2 indicators fit to the bumper skin so it made the quick release fuction a little awkward due to faffing with plugs, To save this went and bought mk1/Small bumper units ans mounted them to the bumper irons. The the large hole in the bumper was covered with Grille mesh jsut to tidy it up a little, i really like the outcome: Did a little paint work on the engine cover:

Pros and Cons of running a diesel VRS
vRSsunroof replied to JerryT's topic in Skoda Fabia Mk II (2007-2014)
How many miles per year do you do? -
its really intermittent. Got the car booked in with local Skod under the coilpack recall. we know them well so they have ordered 4, I have 2 L and 2 D so they may only change 2 as a part of the recall, but the parts serviceing guy said he may see if he can get all 4 dont anyway.

vRSsunroof replied to Kyle_vrs's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk I (1996-2004)
Dont have to. They advise you tell the new owner, If its asked then they have to say, but there is no law to say you have to advertise it as a Cat write off. it would be nice if they where honist. -

The Cat D will be the Stolen with keys. The Insurance would have paid out and then the car was recovered, They then write the car off, It goes to auction. someone puts it back on the road. Bingo bango cheep car. you can get some right bargains at the auctions for stolen with keys catD -
I am getting exactly the same i mine, Its due the Coilpack recall so i am going to try that first. Next is the MAF. Annoyingly i get no Fault codes.

As per most of the other guys have said, Give the engine a good health check. - Check all vac lines - Make sure its well services - Forge 007P DV, It can be fitted with differnt springs for differnt maps - Get someone to Vag Com it to see if there are any underlying faults which have not made themselfs apparent. Places like AMD will give it a once over before mapping to advise before they map it.

Juddering under braking
vRSsunroof replied to KrissTheMiller's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk I (1996-2004)
Google about how to bed brakes in, if you are going to drive it hard then bed them in hard. seen a lot around here, People dont bed them in propperly for hard driving and they warp the first time they drive hard. -

A better story line Something a little more believable. a Mysterious Dr Who?
-
Recent Dr Who...... I kind of like it, Can imagine the writers thought patterns when doing some things but dont think they really have thought about the true theorys behind time travel and the 'Butterfly effect' I know its fiction si-fy entertainment, but there are boundrys which cant be crossed when looking at time travel fiction, and they have crossed them A LOT this series which is a shame and spoils it for me. Matt Smith seems to have lost his mystory and you are getting to know the dr better, I know im young but i thought we wernt supposed to know who the dr was, He was supposed to be a 'Time lord' and thats the most we knew. He is getting a single personality, not as loopy as before, i dont like this.... it makes it like all the other tat on TV

Been having some nice MPG returns on my mk1 vRS
vRSsunroof replied to mluton's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk I (1996-2004)
Result, On the way up the Trip got an Av of about 43mpg! this was taking it easy as i didnt have a time frame. weirly enough on the way home i was a little more brisk and managed to get 38mpg av.... And the car clocked over 120,000 miles on the way back, Really impressed as my normal work commute sees anything between 25 - 32 mpg but that is only 20odd miles motorway work. -
