  1. 1/250 sec f5.6 In this case it's the effect I wanted. I was looking for a more powerful spray look rather than a silky smooth slow moving stream look. If I want the silky look I usually use one or more ND filters. 0.4 sec f10
  2. I do I started there a couple of years ago when Nikonians went to a paid model. I haven't been there much in the last couple of months but I should really spend some time there finding out how much I don't know. User name Richard_R
  3. They are only fairly new on the market but the reviews on camera sites seem fairly positive. Nikon are on a bit of a roll at the moment every camera seems to be a good step forward.
  4. Q. What do you do with a pre 1985 Enduro bike? A. Take it out and play in the forest of course! That's what Vinduro is, pre 1985 bikes and their owners having fun in a non competitive environment. #1 #2 /url] #3 #4 #5 #6 #7 #8 #9 #10 #11 Full set here. Slide show here.
  5. The Soccer season is about to start here soon and I haven't been shooting any moving targets for a while so I spend an hour the other day at the local "let the tourists feed the birds" area. Yep I know this guy wasn't moving, but he was posing.
  6. In case you have never seen them working. Click on the photo for the video.
  7. Jeepers it was interesting to read through the anti Clarkson and anti TG generally vitriol earlier in the thread. Over here in Australia TG rates very well and there is nothing like the sort of negativity towards the presenters that you guys seem to have. Here we see the show for what it is - three larrikins having a great time destroying other peoples cars and having fun doing it whilst getting paid a huge sum of money. What right minded guy who likes cars wouldn't give a testicle to be paid the money they are to have the fun driving and damaging the exotic cars they do? Be honest. If you want serious info on cars you don't watch TG, everybody in Australia knows that. If you want some fun and a change from repeats of Two and a Half Men or dreary Pommie murder mysteries you do watch TG. I just watched the Skoda Yeti episode on the web (not shown here for another week or so) and it will do more to sell Skodas in Australia than all of Skoda Australia's marketing efforts in the last three years (since they launched) have to date.
  8. Why did you obliterate the reg number on the first shot and not the second? On the same subject why do people bother obliterating reg plates at all? Hundreds or maybe even thousands of people see your plates every day when you are driving why are they any less likely to have nefarious thoughts that people on the Internet who may be tens of thousands of miles away unlike the person around the corner who sees your car every day?
  9. Moody foreign people are often the Hotel owners.
  10. In that case I will start the ball rolling Light and dark
  11. My suggestion is to limit the entries to one per person per month. The way it works on most forums is that you can enter and you can change your entry during the month if you wish but only one entry per person can be visible within the competition thread.
  12. How do I know if I have AFS2 on my Xenon equipped VRS?
  13. Spare parts availability to start. Then consider the fact that the suspension has been bumping up and down for 100,000 miles and the wheel bearings and CV joints have been rotating for 100,000 miles and the gearbox has been changing gears for 100,000 miles and the wiper stalks and headlight switches have been turning on and off for ten years and the heater and A/C have been working or not working for ten years and the doors and boot and bonnet have been opening and closing for ten years. Get the picture? There is way more to consider about the costs of insuring a car than simply what engine it has.
  14. Make sure the Linksys router has the latest firmware installed. Often glitches occur in firmware versions that are rectified in later releases. Visit the Linksys web site. If the Router has a standard screw on aerial get a better one. The Router manufacturers supply the cheapest (which generally means least powerful) aerial they can get away with. Nine times out of ten drop out problems can be resolved with one or both of these actions.
  15. You actually picked the best reason to buy a Canon - for you. Any camera that is not comfortable in it's owners hands is a camera that is not going to be used regularly. All jokes aside both Nikon and Canon produce excellent cameras and great ranges of lenses and accessories and whilst there are advantages one way or the other around the edges (Nikon CLS system for example) overall you can't go wrong with either unless you pick the one you don't enjoy using.
  16. Have the New Year fairy buy you a copy of Understanding Exposure by Bryan Peterson. It will go a long way to shortening the learning curve. Also, be ready to be the butt of jokes from use Nikon users (nothing personal it's just a Canon - Nikon thing).
  17. The headlight washers work every fifth time whether the lights are on or not on my car.
  18. You have just reminded me to ring my Mum. Thanks. That was yesterday here. Today is a little overcast with a high of 19.9C at 3.30. Very pleasant actually.
  19. In terms of reliability SSD's are not living up to the hype (anybody surprised about that?). I saw some IT industry figures the other day that show the the failure rate of SSD's under warranty is right around the industry average for hard drives. The only advantage was that no SSD manufacturer was as bad as the worst hard drive manufacturer (a company begining with H) but the converse is that some hard drives were actually overall marginally more reliable than any SSD. Overall the failure rate on any drive is tiny and you need to be unlucky to get a dud one but the story is if you are using a SSD don't stop doing back ups because your chances of needing them are the same as if you were using a traditional hard drive.
  20. My thoughts as well be it seems to be something fat Aussies are wanting more and more on all sorts of cars. After all where I live the temp does drop down to 3 or 4 degrees C at least maybe 3 days a year! On the same basis I can actually see a use for them in NZ and surprise, surprise they are an option you have to pay for.
  21. As far as I know the actual options are the same it's just that here in Australia we get a lot of things standard that in the UK and Europe are chargeable extras. Standard on the MY11 vRS in Australia includes Rear wiper on hatch and wagon Columbus sat/nav (with 30GB hard drive) AC Heated mirrors Heated seats Maxidot display Large centre armrest/ storage bin with 3.5mm aux socket Rear parking sensors NZ models get even more they get as standard everything above except heated seats and Columbus (they get Bolero) plus Xenon lights Electric folding mirrors with auto dim and boarding spot lights Front parking sensors 12 speakers Bluetooth phone prep.
