Diesel or Petrol
4x4 is very useful for traction on wet, snowy or icy roads. Its not an off road car by any means, but the extra traction/grip comes in handy very often.

iPhone 11 won't charge or connect to Apple CarPlay via USB A port on 2019 Kodiaq
Quick question @RichTea (apologies if I missed the info), but have you tried deleting the car from the iPhone? i.e. Settings - General - CarPlay? I don't think Apple have changed the CarPlay API in a way that would stop it working on older cars. My wife has a 19 plate Fabia Colour Edition, and both our phones work fine on that (old iPhone 7 or 8 and my 14 Pro Max), bot running the latest iOS for each model.

iPhone 11 won't charge or connect to Apple CarPlay via USB A port on 2019 Kodiaq
Yeah I used the USB A port first time I tried as this is how my Land Rover's were updated. Then after reading the map update installation guide... used the SD card slot. Assume system updates would use same method as maps.

Automatic Kodiaq Issue
Also if you tug the steering wheel a touch, the engine restarts so the car should pull away easily (lets not talk about the gearbox lag that can happen though 😡) and the auto hold brake will release without you noticing a thing. I nearly always do this when I stop at a junction or island so the car is as ready as it can be (again lets not go there worth the random gearbox lag when puling way) to pull away quickly.

Are you using the SD card slots in the glove box or USB-A in the centre console? I have to us the glove box one to update maps, is the SD card slot used for system updates also?

Surface of brake discs rust quickly
And next morning rusty and noisy again

Surface of brake discs rust quickly
Well I'll for sure be looking for coated ones when they need changing - which will be soon I think. Callipers also look like they been at the bottom of the sea for 200 years!

Surface of brake discs rust quickly
Getting towards the 5 year old Kodiaq rear (Mintex "uncoated" disc level by morning. Disc hubs are not as rusty. 2 year old car so perhaps standard fit is not coated?

Surface of brake discs rust quickly
Thanks or all the replies folks. I guess it's just the crappy weather. Discs (the area not touched by pads) are really rusty and make the Sportline wheels look rubbish. Callipers are also very rusty - more than I'd expect on a MY20 car!! Pads are 50% worn front, 40% rear. Just has an oil service and this is what the dealer stated. No measurements for the discs at all. Mileage is 22,890 - so not that much for a MY20.

Surface of brake discs rust quickly
Hi, noticed that recently my discs are rusting on the surface much more quickly these days - causes them to make a horrible scraping noise for a few miles. Is this just due to the wet weather or does it mean my discs are needing replacing soon?

Data only sim recommendation
Usually head rot Amazon and find Three have a deal on 20GB or more for 12 months. For us Three is best where we live as it seems to have more rural coverage than EE, Vodafone, O2 etc

Frimare update FOR KODIAQ 2021 2.0 TDI 200HP
Anyway I can find the gearbox software version and then see if it has latest mapping? My DSG is dumb as a brick re changing up and down - seems try and keep me in high gears unless I mash the peddle to kick down. MY20 2.0L Diesel 180.

Looks like I'll soon be in the market for new brake pads.
Very useful thread!! Thank you.

Reset DSG ‘learning’
Yes, as you haven't changed the Drive Mode using the Mode button or menu item, so it will still show as being in Normal, the the car will effectively be in Sport Mode though by using the gear lever and change the gearbox, steering and adaptive suspension settings (if you have that fitted).
-
Reset DSG ‘learning’
My steering gets heavier when I flick to Sports mode using the gearbox. The driving mode settings allow you to select the different options, i.e. sportier gearbox, but no change in steering response etc. Would make no sense to have Sport selected by gearbox just do one change and not all of the Sport mode changes.
-
Reset DSG ‘learning’
Flicking gear lever to go into Sport mode - stiffer steering and a 'more responsive' gear box. The driving modes allow me to select the options that are the same as when flicking into Sport, but would leave them permanently on... so not sure it's actually any different to just using the gear lever to flip between Sport and Drive.

Reset DSG ‘learning’
This all makes sense sir, many thanks. I too have looked around (after recommends here) at peddle boxes and gearbox mapping options. If the car was out of warranty and my insurer was OK with it, then I would go for one for sure. I will probably start looking to change the car (maybe a newer MY Kodiaq) in about a years time in any case - but we'll see.

Reset DSG ‘learning’
@roottoot Yeah I think that’s a plan. Need to work out a route to drive too and try and replicated some of last weeks roads. My previous was a 68 plate Velar and prior to that all LR’s - Disco 3,4,5 and a Disco Sport. So new the VAG stable TBH.

Reset DSG ‘learning’
Deffo either the gearbox or engine mapping, the auto hold was not active and even when it is, it causes no appreciable delay in pulling away to be honest. The engine just appears to have no power at all and then suddenly it does, in D or S. Leaves you hanging wondering when it will actually pull the car away.
-
Reset DSG ‘learning’
Maybe so and maybe it needs a dealer to fully reset? I will ask of course. But the brochure does say this... DIRECT SHIFT GEARBOX (DSG) DSG automatically adapts to your driving style, whilst taking road conditions into account. It reduces the strain on the engine and stress to the driver, by deciding when to change gear, leaving you free to concentrate on the journey. ...so it would suggest the gearbox adapts constantly. If it does and retains settings, it can be reset I assume?

Reset DSG ‘learning’
True, its just that all my previous autos never exhibited these issues.

Anyone got access to Skoda TPI's ?
They have sorted it with Skoda thankfully so its now being repaired for free under the extended warranty. The kit wasn't used last time it went in (even though the TPI stated that the kit should be fitted) for some reason.
