  1. Has it been repaired? Vcheck sometimes shows pre-repair pictures.
  2. Rory replied to pragmatix's topic in Skoda Karoq
Something like that. it's just a bit odd that it's gone now, after our fairly basic trim mk1 Tiguan had it.

Yes, that function. I did initially just tried to set it up in the same way as I did on mk1 Tiguan (no menu funtion, you just go through the mirror movement motions, then ignition off and it stores it) and I know it has to have the mirror switch in the L position. From a bit of reading of this forum It seems Karoq needs a different kind of mirror motor and for the option to be there in the convenience menu.

Old thread, I know, but I thought I was going mad not being able to set up passenger mirror dipping on our newly acquired Karoq. I can't quite believe the passenger mirror can't be set to dip - even the mk1 Tiguan we had before did it. You have to be so careful when changing cars that there isn't some function missing that you took for granted.
  5. I will do, but just wanted, as per the title, to see if they're all noisy. I hate dealing with dealer service departments - it's the kind of thing where they'll say no fault found, or want to charge me for diagnosis or regassing. Earlier in the week I emailed the sales guy we dealt with, more as a holding thing than anything else. Had nothing back although my wife thinks he was about to go on holiday. An OOTO message would have confirmed that though.
  6. Here's a very short sound clip - the click is me turning off the a/c. Karoq.mp4
  7. I wonder what percentage they go down to? I used to have a Merc (also with a swash plate compressor) and when the a/c was switched off it would drop the cooling somewhat, but not fully. Then about 15 mins later the car would suddenly and almost instantly, steam up, so it must go down to a pretty low level. There's no odd noise under the bonnet. The main cooling fan goes on and off with the a/c button but that's not particualrly noticable. The compressor did fail on daughter's Ateca at about 40K miles but I don't know what was wrong with it. As best I could see the drive "clutch" on the front looked OK.
  8. I just took the car out for a run around our village and the noise - I think heavy whirring is better than my initial description - is certainly still there. I also noticed that it's engine speed dependant, getting louder between idle and maybe 2500RPM - it's as if there's something horrible going on in the DSG, but the noise stops instantly when the a/c button is pressed. And starts instantly too. It's just as if there's an additional a/c specific blower in the dash, but I'm not aware that's the case.
  9. Thanks for that. Our car hasn't been used much since we got it. I was prompted to start this thread after a 40 mile round trip (that's a long trip for my wife!) last week and it was really pretty noisy. She had mentioned it before but, to be honest, I'd just shrugged and dismissed it, thinking it was just because the car is different, and, as you say, the engine is quiet so far all I know the diesel Tiguan we had could have been the same! I started the car over the weekend and ran it at idle for a bit and there's a trace of a noise coming and going, but nothing like as noticeable. So perhaps the system needs to be run for a while before it beomes more noticeable. I've pinged the dealer an email anyway. I'm thinking it might need regassing and I don't want to pay for that having only had the car a couple of weeks. The pollen filter is behind the glove box - bit fiddly to drop the glove box down. Pollen filter is supposed to be changed every 2yrs.
  10. Relating to daughter's SEAT Ateca, I got this by Twitter DM from SEAT UK (which is practice is VW Group's UK call centre staffed by some random 3rd party company): "We can confirm as of 1 July 2023, the cambelt intervals have been updated to remove the five-year intervals on all cars across the Volkswagen Group. The cambelt replacement will now be based on the mileage."
  11. Regarding the timing - it's designed around how long it would take to fill your car with fuel, and then check the oil. Like people used to do in the olden days. So a couple of mins or so is fine. My Merc showed the level on the dash and only needed 1 minute of engine off before it would display a reading. Hot oil runs back into the sump quickly. It also expands a bit so in practice I find the level is near-as-dammit the same if checking when hot after a couple of mins, or stone cold.
  12. Thanks for suggestions. It doesn't seem in any way related to the blower fan or flap positions or recirc. The odd thing is that the noise stops and starts instantly when the a/c button is pressed on and off. If it was low gas causing the system to be noisy I'd expect there'd be something of a delay. I wondered if it was "air care" related but it doesn't make any difference if that's on or off. My wife (it's her car, really) 'reported' it to me and it's really not like her to notice car stuff! I dismissed it at first but once you tune in to the the noise it's really quite obvious.
  13. The vents are open but it's not the blower fan - you can wind that up and down and the noise is separate. Once the blower fan is a few steps up it drowns out this other noise.
  14. As I get used to car I've become aware that when the a/c is on there's a kind of strangulated / straining fan noise coming from the behind the dash, that is very obvious when the car is at idle. It's not the blower fan - the noise in unrelated to blower fan speed - and it stops and starts immediately the a/c button is pressed. It's not the engine cooling fan either - I know that starts and stops with the a/c but it's barely audible even under the bonnet, and anyway the noise is instant when the a/c button is pressed and the cooling fan takes a while to spin and (especially) down. Obviously the TSi engine is quieter than our diesel was, but, with the radio off, this noise is quite dominant in the cabin when the car is stopped at junctions etc. Are they all like this?
  15. I don't follow what you mean by over/underpayment? You just pay the monthly amount, that it. If you got it for £25 you did well, although oddly the scheme varies across the VW Group brands and some don't include the major service items like spark plugs / fuel filter, and some do. Basically I think of the scheme as covering the cost of basic services and MOTs, and they throw in free roadside assistance and warranty. If you're going to stick with the dealer anyway and buy the extended warranty then it's a no-brainer. Some people think it's a bit of a scam as it isn't "All In" in terms of what it covers - on our Tiguan I had to pay quite a bit at the six year service as the scheme doesn't include brake fluid change, Haldex or a/c (I'd never had the a/c done and it was a bit weak) - so I still ended up paying £250 ish, and that was "cheap" as that car had the old a/c gas. it also gives the dealer the chance to upsell you extra stuff - brakes, tyres etc etc, where an idie is less pushy.
  16. I don't think it requires an inspection now - I haven't done it since that changed, but I reckon they'll just tell you to buy it online. On the Tiguan we just sold, it was all a bit iffy as it was 6yrs old on 2nd Sept 2021 and I had VW extended warranty on it, which expired 1st Sept. The car needs to be under 6yrs old to pul All In on it. Somehow the dealer (who were generally very good, I have to say) serviced and MOT'd and did the All In check on the 31st Aug, charging the cost to All In, but started the policy on 1st Sept. They were very laid back about it, but they must have done some fiddling of dates behind the scenes.
  17. I'm not aware they ever (at least since changing them became routine) inspected cambelts. Certainly it's a concern now they're leaving them so long - most won't be changed within the cars lifetime - which could be self-fulfilling if the belt breaks (or a tensioner fails).
  18. Have you checked if it's possible to buy in advance - ie with a start date in the future? I suspect not, but you never know. We missed out on the discount price for our SEAT - the discount appreared literally a couple of days after signing up. At the time the car had to have a check and they said we could cancel but the car would need another check. It dropped just after purchase on our VW too, but that was a general reduction in cost - I asked VWFS for the lower price and they said 'nope', they did offer to cancel it though, and it's not supposed to be cancelleable.
  19. Being new to Skoda, I'd hoped Skoda might be better than this - didn't they used to be similar to the little independent Honda dealers?
  20. The drill for a Tiguan is here, which might give some pointers: https://www.tiguanforums.co.uk/threads/iq-matrix-light-dazzling.8706/#post-94094
  21. Don't they lift at speed? If they're that low at speed, what are they like around town?
  22. Not long ago had the rears changed on the Tiguan we used to have - dealer described them as "leaking" so the All In warranty covered them at 7.5yrs old (only about 40K miles though). They noticed this on the VHC while it was having a glow plug changed. Looking at the VHC video they looked exactly the same as they did on service and MOT 6 mths earlier but they weren't even commented on. "Misting" has been a VW thing for years - there was a service bulletin about it against a 2011 Golf we had after the fronts were noted as "misting". After it was 3yrs old I got it indie serviced and he put "misting" on the first MOT he did at 4yrs/40K. I showed him the bulletin and he dimmissed it as a load of rubbish. Next year he didn't mention them, but they were back on the next two MOTs he did. To be fair, didn't have any noticeable issue with them in the 7yrs/70K miles we had the car. I just looked up the Golf's MOT hstory and "misiting" is there as an advisory every year from 2015 to 2021, apart from 2016. It's not mentioned on the Oct 2022 MOT.
  23. Yes, that does limit things - at a glance they're all metallic.
  24. If that suits your timing then fair enough, but the Skoda website shows 139 of 'em at dealers - pick one of those!
  25. Not an expert on this - we've only had our Karoq for a week - but I was aware of the kangerooing issue and it mainly affected manual's. I've seen some discussion about whether DSGs did it at all, or whether it was there but the DSG box masked the problem. I don't know the answer to that.
