key fob battery
Sorry to revive an old thread, but we also are having problems with the key fob battery life. It’s around 3 months for both fobs. While the car was in for service,in January, the dealer changed the Battery in my fob. This lasted just over 3 months. The response from the dealer was that according to Skoda this is acceptable and they would only do something if it lasted under 3 months🤬 I’ve just sent off a complaint to Skoda customer services. Has anyone had their key fob replaced under warranty? Mark

National chains offering Tyre Geo checks/adjustments
The last time I had 4 wheel alignment, I used Kwik-fits 2 year 4 wheel alignment which cost £99 and allowed up to 8 checks and adjustments during that period. I was recommended the particular branch and had been happy with their previous work. Mark

Haldex replacement cost
You really need a scan with VCDS to pinpoint the problem. When you had the Haldex oil changed did they change the hidden filter (not listed on the Skoda parts diagram🙃) lots of useful info and prices here https://www.haldexrepairs.co.uk/product-tag/Skoda/ Mark

Is having gearbox opened and condition assessed financially worth it?
It may help to bleed the clutch - it’s often a neglected maintenance job. Mark

ŠKODA finance settlement
I settled our Fabia’s finance within the 14 day right of withdrawal period earlier this year, using the bank transfer as described above. The only difference was that I agreed with Skoda finance that I could send a small sum first to confirm that I had the correct account details. Mark

Scout Haladex fault?
If it’s a gen4 Haldex make sure the hidden filter (not shown on Skoda’s parts diagram) has been changed. This was mine after 8 years and only 33k miles.

Thinking about Carista .
works fine on mine😀

Apologies in advance! 2008 2.0 PD 140 Scout Questions?
The pd Scout is an excellent car. If the DPF has been removed you will see smoke when you floor it. If you end up buying it use a friendly local MOT garage that are ok with a DPF delete. In addition to the above issues make sure you have the Haldex serviced, including the hidden filter which is not shown on the Skoda parts diagram. Mark

Help please… misfire detected
The dealer is responsible for any faults within 6 months of purchase. You also have the right to reject the car. I suggest getting advice from trading standards or through any legal cover eg home insurance etc. Mark.

Thinking about Carista .
Carista is excellent for doing simple adaptions, but as stated it lacks more advanced functionality. When you purchase Carista you get 1 months free trial of the advanced functions, by electing for for the 1 year subscription. This is via your App Store. You can cancel the subscription 1 day before the month ends and you have nothing more to pay. You can revive the subscription at any time you need it. Mark

Is this a good oil for the Octavia Scout Rear Diff?
The Haldex fluid is G 055 175 A2 and as stated above is a different fluid to that used in the rear diff. I suggest finding a mechanic with experience of the Haldex. I definitely recommend changing the filter. Below is the filter from my old pd scout (gen 4 Haldex) 8 years old approx 35k miles, fluid changed at 4 years.

Fabia 1.0 TSI 110hp - What are they like to live with?
I’m really impressed with our 1.0tsi 110 Estate. It very much has the feel of our old Octy Scout. A keen driver wouldn’t be very impressed with the handling, I don’t find it quite sharp enough - but it’s safe and predictable. The ride is good and once loaded it’s very impressive. On the performance front I still miss the torque of the diesel, but as the engine is loosening up it’s getting much more flexible. The best recommendation is an extended test drive - which you’ve effectively got with the 14 day money back guarantee. Hope this helps. Mark

New scout owner need information about gearbox/front diff
Not sure about the drain plugs, but if you have the 6 speed manual box the correct oil is VAG part no G052171A2

Filters
Don’t forget to note down the make and part number printed on the filter, for next time😀

Fabia Estate - 95 vs 110 psi?
I test drove and found the 95 a bit sluggish, so went for the 110 and am delighted with it. The main differences are:- The 110 has a 6 speed gearbox and 16” wheels compared with the 95s 5 speed box and 15” wheels. Mark

Considering Fabia Estate1.0 tsi purchase. Advice please.
Hi, hope you are all keeping well. I’m really impressed with the Fabia. Despite being much smaller than the Octavia it has the feel of a much bigger car. like JandB I only have a few hundred miles on the clock, but very pleased with how lively it is. I do miss the torque of the diesel but I’m sure it’s just a matter of getting used to it. The boot space is excellent, only 60L down on the Scout. Once loaded the car seems to ride and handle really well. I can thoroughly recommend the car. We test drive the 95ps version, which seemed a bit underpowered - if you want a 110 they are only available from stock. Mark

Coming/leaving home lights (I do I activate them) Octavia VRS 2010 2.0 ltr (FL)
I remember disabling the coming home lights through the infotainment system on my old FL scout, as you say it probably needs activating first through VCDS. The Carista website mentions enabling/disabling coming home lights on the mk2 Fl Octavia IN Customisations.I’ve used it to activate auto locking for my Fabia , which wasn’t available according to the convenience Menu. Mark.

Coming/leaving home lights (I do I activate them) Octavia VRS 2010 2.0 ltr (FL)
IIRC you can activate the coming home lights through the infotainment system. Probably under convenience settings. Alternatively you can use a Bluetooth OBD2 Adapter such as Carista. Mark

Upgrades
Which engine do you have? There’s not too much you can do with the non turbo units, but the turbocharged engines can be remapped or you can install a tuning box. Before doing anything though make sure the car is performing as it should - does it just need a good service. Mark
