  1. You must be absolutely gutted! I know I would be but, at the end of the day, the Yeti is just a piece of machinery and we can all be very thankful that noone was hurt. I would seriously look into any possibility of getting a replacement vehicle, the damage sounds very extensive with the core structure having been affected. I know if the chassis had been distorted in any way, you would be eligible for a replacement car.
  2. Very early in the day for me, only done 300 miles but my ears have not led me to any noises that shouldn't be there thus far.
  3. Just thought it would be interesting, being as it's a hot topic at the moment, to get an idea of the proportion of Yeti owners out there who are suffering from abnormal noises and rattles from their Yeti.
  4. I am inclined to agree with Agerbundsen here that the root cause of these problems are more to do with management of Quality Standards & Control rather than quality of the parts themselves. Don't forget, the likes of Toyota have highly automated assembly plants too that employ a far higher level of robotic and computerised machinery in contrast to the manually intensive Czech plants with more margin for error on an increased production rate. Hopefully, with all the Yetis and Superbs Skoda are selling, some of the money will be reinvested into addressing weaknesses in Quality control that may be developing though increased production.
  5. Your former username wouldn't be Y4Yeti by any chance? Whilst a few unfortunate owners have been beset by the much vaunted squeaks and rattles, I think it would be fair to say that there are as many, if not more who are enjoying their Yeti devoid of such unwanted noises - me included. As is always the case with automotive forums, it is the niggles and complaints that tend to get posted and discussed much more so than the positive attributes. Granted, I have done not much more than around 300 miles so far in mine, plenty of time for things to change but, hand on heart, I have not yet noticed any noise that shouldn't be there. In fact, I am marvelling at just how smooth and quiet the engine is and what relatively little wind noise I'm hearing considering I have the roof bars and luggage basket attached. It would be unfair and silly of me to expect the same standard of interior quality I experienced with the Audi TT (a car I paid £31K for) but the car I had before that was a VW Golf GTI Mk V and the Yeti's interior seems definitely on a par with that. As noted by Octy888 himself, exterior quality even seems to be on a par with the premium German brands. I too considered a Land Rover Freelander, worthy of all the praise that is bestowed upon them. However, unlike yourself, I didn't feel that paying an extra £10K for a vehicle providing a very similar spec, higher tax, higher insurance, higher maintenance costs, lower mpg, lower overall performance and nowhere near the seating/storage flexibility was simply worth it. I'm not a "badge snob" either although I do have to have a giggle to myself when you notice other drivers and pedestrians take a good look at the beast who are obviously thinking to themselves, "What's that? Oh!... it's a Skoda." I'm pretty sure too that for every "loyal customer" Skoda are currently losing, they are gaining hundreds, if not thousands of new customers. Else we wouldn't be seeing the 4 - 5 month waiting list that currently exists for the Yeti.

    SM Ordered

Congrats on the purchase! Only had mine less than a week but absolutely lovin' it. It will be worth the wait.
  7. Nice bike! As part of a personal aim toward a more leisure oriented lifestyle and to prise myself away from those dreaded computers that have so much dominated my life (professionally and personally) over the last 20 years, I have acquired two other modes of transport to indulge myself in from time to time. The first is a full suspension mountain bike - a Trek Top Fuel 9. The second is a Zodiac Cadet Fastroller Acti-V Inflatable Boat with Mercury 8 hp Outboard. Both will fit nicely into the back of the Yeti with one rear seat taken out and the other two folded up.
  8. One of the reasons why I got rid of the Audi TT... honest! No matter how I adjusted it, it always seemed to dig into my back and never give enough support at the top. I'm convinced this was the primary cause of some serious back problems for 12 months after having the car. I find the Yeti seats far more comfortable. Not quite as comfortable as the ones I had in my Golf GTI Mk V - they were the best I've ever had.
  9. Nice to hear you sounding more positive about the monster. Fit and finish do seem well up there in the quality stakes. Having had an Audi for a couple of years, I can't say I could point out anything about the exterior that's significantly lower quality. It would be fair to say the interior materials did seem higher quality in the Audi but then that's probably just because there was more of an abundance of leather. I hope a pattern to the niggly rattles can be established so they can be pinpointed and addressed by Skoda although so far, like Trevorminor, I'm not aware of any in mine yet (only done 100 miles so far though).
  10. I've had a few different cars in my time but, with the Yeti, comes a few toys I've never had before in a car; 1.) Panoramic Sunroof (although I've had sunroofs before). 2.) Sat Nav 3.) Cornering Fog Lights 4.) "Intelligent" four-wheel drive (had a Land Rover Defender 10 years back). 5.) Heated Front Seats 6.) Rear Parking Sensors 7.) Cruise Control 8.) Wonderfully flexible rear seating system 9.) Internal Bike Holder
  11. Only been driving mine for a couple of days but I have to fully concur with Octy888. I can't and don't expect it to handle, in the dry, as well as my previous TT but, I'll tell you what, it might give it a run for its money in more adverse conditions. It feels surprisingly nimble and nippy and I haven't even bothered opening her up much yet (still believe in running new cars in for about 1000 miles). You can feel the car's eagerness as you run through the lower gears. I have the 170 hp diesel.
  12. The Off Road Button is standard with the Elegance 4x4. The Tyre Pressure Monitor accounts for another button and there is another (the function of which escapes me at the moment). So, I do have 3 of the 5 available buttons (Park Assist and Front Parking Sensors being the ones missing). Would have been nice to have had the full compliment but I've never been too bad at parking so I didn't feel that the options were worth the expense.
  13. Pics of my Yeti Elegance 2.0L CR170 4x4 in Pearlescent Metallic Black. Options and accessories fitted are; Panoramic Sunroof Annapurna Alloys Rough Road Pack Mud Flaps Decorative Front Bumper Trim Cobra Stainless Steel Side Steps & Chrome Front Grille Polished Stainless Steel Wing Mirror Caps Polished Stainless Steel Rear Bumper Guard Roof Bars & Luggage Basket Columbus Sat Nav Tyre Pressure Monitor Internal Bike Holder Rubber Boot Mat
  14. Cheers Octy888! I do hope you get the problems with yours sorted out. Just goes to show that Friday afternoon jobbys still exist eh? A big pity when something like this happens to spoil what should be such a good experience with an otherwise fabulous car.
  15. I think you might need to get your monitor calibrated (or your eyes tested! ). It has the Black Onyx interior. I will try and get some detailed interior shots done soon.
  16. Traded my Audi TT Mk 2 in for the Yeti I picked up yesterday. Like yours, a very different kind of car to the one you were used to. For me; I will miss: The nice smug feeling a posy upmarket sports coupe gave me. Never getting tired of just looking at the car - such a beautiful sleek and sexy design. I won't miss: Never really finding a comfortable position in the seat. I'm convinced this gave me the serious back problems I experienced shortly after getting the car. Steering was too light and far too much travel on the clutch pedal. Spending half an hour thawing out the door locking mechanism every time we had a good frost before I could get in the car. Slipping and sliding all over the place on our estate over the long hard winter.
  17. Hope everyone has a great time! Shame I can't be there with my "day old" Yeti.
  18. Great! Exactly what I wanted to hear. Got the internal bike holder for mine. It was a key selling point as I wanted to be able to transport my £2.5K mountain bike securely and efficiciently. Thanks for sharing the info.
  19. There does seem to be a very slight bluish tinge in the photos but the colour is actual the Pearlescent Metallic Black.
  20. Just blanked off the first part of the plate with Photoshopso that's not the whole reg. Bought it from the DVLC quite a few years back now. It cost £500 originally but it's now worth around £2K.
  21. The side steps aren't a Skoda option. They're from a German company called Cobra. There's another thread somewhere with all the details. Yes, I think Aerofurb will have some competition now.
  22. Wow! Can't wait till she's properly broken in then.
  23. I can't I'm afraid Lady P as I have other arrangements. Would love to meet up with you lot at some point pretty soon though (we must organise another meet maybe in the Autumn). Thanks for the complements.
  24. Well Folks! Picked her up at 11:00 am this morning. The bad news was that, for some reason, some of the trim accessories were unavailable to order, namely; Stainless Steel Door Sill Covers Stainless Steel Foot Pedal Covers Lateral Side Protectors with Aluminium inserts Dealer is going to update me why this is the case. The good news was that, she looked stunning anyway!!! An interesting (and quite surprising) fact, the dealer told me, was that mine was in the top 5 most expensive Skodas ever sold in the UK. Although I got a reasonable discount for paying cash, the list price with all the options and accessories was getting close to £28,000. The most expensive has been a fully loaded Superb at about £30,000. So! Here are a few pics as promised. Quick First Impressions are; Just how nimble and quick she is. This machine is NOT slow. Love the elevated driving position with good all round visibility. Sunroof and Sat Nav is great! Was expecting a fair bit of noise from the Roof Bars / Luggage Basket but it's not bad at all. There is some (obviously!) but nothing terribly intrusive. No squeaks and rattles yet but too early to tell what she'll be like once run in. Will post more pics as I get the chance Regards to all from one very happy Snow Monster owner.
  25. Neither have I! Even my brand new Audi TT (last car) only took 3 months. The Yeti has taken 4 months and 1 week. Some poor B's are even having to wait longer.
