  1. the d15 is 610CCA and 63Ah This is much better than the one I had fitted from the dealer when I got it 60Ah and 400CCA
  2. varta d15 - around £55 on ebay - same as bosch silver s5 but much cheaper replaced mine in spring - starting is now superb
  3. yes for me too I think it is the interior door seal behind the door card I have sealed and replaced stuff on roof channel drain and the drivers door rubber seal to no avail let me know if you manage to solve it
  4. always fit decent quality spares - the labour costs are usually the largest component of the bill!
  5. just buy some second hand ones off the 'bay
  6. although I have no personal experience, I've yet to hear a bad word about r-tech
  7. access to this is what makes the job difficult - I got my mechanic to do it as I didn't have tools that allowed em to get a grip on the housing bolts
  8. service when reqd, put the rest to repairs/upgrades (do when old stuff wears out) and quality rubber
  9. various ways of doing the job - look up mk4 golf rear spring howto
  10. kyb do a vrs specific rear spring which you should be able to get for well under £100 to fit is really easy, esp if you have spring compressors - otherwise a garage can easily do it in an hour
  11. I got new shocks all round for £160 so it is doable Bilstein B4 22-145550 front 19-029177 rear
  12. I'll stick with my Goodyear Eagle F1 Aysmmetric 2 which I have recently been picking up for around £55 a corner, but then I can get cheap fitting. NEVER willing to trust cheap rubber, it's all that keep you on the road
  13. Hi, I'll take them - happy to send a paypal
  14. go to dealer for VAG fluid - many tales of crunchy VW gearboxes after using non-genuine fluid
  15. not close enough to physically help but happy to give advice
  16. I have one for sale with an o ring on the 'bay pm me if you want more info
  17. just buy a set of vw ones off ebay, fit them then do the recall, simples
  18. I can currently find decent quality stuff for ~£73 thats a full set of discs and pads all round absolute bargain I think! last time I did either front or rear it was nearly £100 each end!
  19. Hi, you can get bilstein B4 stuff that fits fine use these for the front BLS22-145550 and these for the rear BLS19-029177
  20. just a note on this when I gopt my plug in kit I bought a golf mk4 one as it was a fraction of the price for an octavia one and is physically identical HOWEVER the way the rear light plug on the wiring kit will need to be reconfigured as the golf rear lights are wired up to the same pins as the octavia ones if you are electrically handy and have a meter this will be a simple job with a wiring loom pick - it saved me over £80 at the time
  21. I took mine off, fixed it and greased the internals, the disconnected washer line at tank end rear wiper still works perfectly several years later
  22. have a look at the westfalia website - I'm sure my fitting instructions mentioned a length
  23. The 027 sized Varta D15 I put in has been superb so far - I'd not hesitate to recommend it. It is 600CCA and replaced the old one which was 420CCA - no wonder starting is now instant bearing in mind the old one was getting long in the tooth. I got mine cheapest at battery megastore - discount codes are out there too.
  24. I would assume it has not been done - go to a dealer and find out how much fluid you need - then purchase it, these gearboxes generally need the right kind of VW fluid, GL4 or GL5 will not cut it
  25. mine just felt like it was struggling to start some times - especially in colder weather, when the first second or so of starting seemed noticeably slower
