I used to be able to update my my20 car but it no longer works. I download the files and expand them onto an SD card but it tells me there is no valid update or similar

Fit the floor riser kit and a full size spare if you don’t have it already? (Or a space saver and riser kit if 2wd)

Best is to have the wheel off and push hub cover out from the rear, no damage that way

Personally I think it is too small to bother with so has never been used in anger. I kept the umbrella from my 55reg Superb company car as it is a large size and still use it. Kept under raised floor in boot next to spare.

I always rotate wheels front to rear each time I change from winter to summer tyres and back. As I take each wheel off I label it to go back next time at other end of that side of car. They should all last about the same time in each set and avoid this issue.

The dsg will not downshift in manual mode if the increase in engine revs required would exceed set limits

If you ever do lose one like above, and I did on previous Yeti, photo the wheel nut, mirror image the photo on a computer and then compare the inverted photo to pictures of those for sale on eBay from wrecked car breakers. I easily found one to match my locking bolts and purchased it, but not that cheap!

I am not certain but recall something about this as my car came with towbar prep fitted. (Bought from showroom, and one of fitted extras, but I will not ever use this myself) It depends on the engine fitted as to what changes are needed. In my 190ps tdi it was only some wiring additions to allow future towbar addition. For other variants it needs a different radiator possibly and/ or additional cooling fans as part of towbar prep, plus as above changes to various other parts. So it seems that some engines will need expensive modifications to allow towing whilst maintaining a warranty. I must admit that for many years I towed and just had towbars fitted by a specialist. In hindsight if I had had a warranty issue this might have prevented my claim if those vehicles should have had modifications to allow fitting?

My yeti had a load net option. It used a frame and net which folded away into a bag when not in use. Bottom fixings like these but you had to have it from factory to get top fixings in the headlining. used to stop loads moving forward and coul be either from roof to floor behind rear seats or behind front seats. Quite useful and I would have specified it for Karoq but you only get it with a factory order. ( I csuppose some may have retrofitted it but it would be difficult to modify the headlining even if the metal brackets were in place behind?)

My edition is fine like yours with 45 ratio tyres. However the Sportline used even wider tyres at 40 ratio. Apparently they have a very firm ride

The adblu tank is a good thing as it means your car is not barred from an increasing number of city centres. Going to a diesel without means older and not Euro 6 compliant.

The “full size spare” if fitted is not usually the same size as the other 4 tyres so as you say wasteful but can’t swap this in easily to even out wear. Beware as both my summer and winter tyres are directionally marke so can only be swapped front to rear , not diagonally.

225/69, Dunlop winter sports I think, I only use these in Winter season. Now in sixth winter and still plenty of tread left. ( I bought them for Yeti in 2017

The 19” wheels with 225/45 tyres on my car are much more comfortable than the 17” wheels I had on previous Yeti, so I suppose it is all relative to what you had before. When designing the spec for UK cars it seems they assume top spec cars have to have low profile wheels unfortunately, so if you want a decent spec you have to put up with it. If you want ultimate comfort you can run on 16” wheels! I am using 16” wheels at the moment as my winter tyres fitted but grip in the dry is definitely reduced in tight corners.

My unit doesn’t use an sd card for the navigation, it is stored internally.

I built a tandem double garage, extra wide when we moved into our house in 1990. It was used as such for a rew years but is a pain to open and close door etc. I also came to the conclusion that a wet car put into a garage corroded faster than one outside free to dry off in moving air. Garage is now a workshop, store etc and no chance of getting a car in. Most garages are anyway too small for modern cars, better suited to smaller cars built in the past, as the thread starter has found.

Who still puts a car in a garage? Yes the Karoq is bigger than Kamiq, but not sure how either compare to Yeti. I like the high up driving position of both Yeti and Karoq. Getting into a Kamiq is like stepping down into a conventional car. If size was the governing factor I would personally have a Fabia. We have had several of these as my wife’s car since they were first released and my daughter is using one at the moment. A Fabia would be more economical to run than a Kamiq.

I loved my 3 yetis but having moved on to Karoq it is a generation newer in design and much better in almost every way in how it works, drives and technology installed. I always found the Yeti accelerator a little uncomfortable to use and the seats a little too narrow, no such problem in Karoq. You have gone back to a car that is now at least 5 years old and getting left further behind all the time.

My car has sd slots in the glovebox and a normal usb in the central console. However mib3 units look like the large square touch screen display in the dash. Could the early mib3 units have had this or is it mib2 then. The download had two folders, mib1 and mib2. If mine is mib2 I presume I just put all the files from the mib2 folder onto the drive?

My 2020 car has a mib3 system as far as I can tell? The whole touchscreen one with no buttons on it. I have updated it before by connecting to house Wi-Fi and then downloaded the update but it no longer seems to work. Searching for how to do it manually you go to Skoda update site and enter vin number then download the update. Extract files and put on usb stick to upload into car. Problem is the example gives mib3 file names to use in the update. With my vin number I only get mib1 and mib2 update files downloaded? I don’t subscribe to the Skoda portal as not worth having following trial that only ever worked for last month of free year.
