  1. Old thread I know but apparently my 190ps edition has towbar prep fitted as an extra. Don't expect to definitely fit a towbar but just may buy a caravan in the future so happy it was already fitted. However does my car have any other changes apart from extra wiring, eg updated cooling fan as discussed above? Does the system need recoding if a tow bar is added or was this programmed at build?
  2. Plus as it is a dual shaft gearbox with a clutch on each, one clutch is always ”slipping” all the time it is not in neutral or park. I read a long discussion about thrust bearing wear and if it should be reduced, and this was the clinching argument in that one or other thrust bearing is always engaged and sometimes both when car is coasting with gears disengaged and engine at tickover
  3. You should have a heated screen? Mine does although I am still not certain which features were extras as bought out of the showroom. The wires are very fine and I only notice them occasionally when there is bright sun and you sometimes see the light rainbowing slightly as it comes through. After about 11 years without a heated windscreen after many years with it in prior Ford card I had it in my last Yeti and now in new Karoq and it is a feature I consider essential now like the dsg gearbox.
  4. I turn it on and off as needed on trip, often multiple times. It easy to reach and press the button. Off at junctions and roundabouts and slow moving queue. On at traffic lights and in stop start traffic.
  5. I presume my car is an my20 edition, built March but registered August. It does not have wireless charging and the phone has to be connected by wire for carplay
  6. Not sure when you would actually need to use this button as it all seems to work automatically to me?
  7. Finally managed to get it to do an online update linked to my phone, using link in satnav menu. Strangely my daughters street still doesn't exist although it was on the updated map I used last year for the yeti I had then. (I used a vw tiguan map to update it as the official skoda map was showing two speed limits at the time) However the skoda services link in the menu which was confusing me doesn't work and won't update after showing a brief invalid licence notice? Does this not work in the uk?
  8. I remember that. Happy days
  9. None that I know of. I would want the brakes on in case hit from behind or start to roll on a slope. If going to the trouble of shifting out of drive for a longer stop I would put in Park and possibly even apply the handbrake. The only reason I can see to have neutral is for the mechanic during a service, or possibly towing? Incidentally what do you do if broken down. I would think you can't get out of park so the vehicle can be moved?
  10. I have tried again. Wlan active, services activated etc. Update online command briefly flashes licence invalid and nothing happens. Yet I have the email from soda saying I have successfully activated service etc. As I don't have a spare 32gb sd card at the moment I am stuck. Can I use a USB Drive instead
  11. The map in my car is nowhere near as up to date as on my last yeti update. There is no map dedicated sd card that I can find and I can't seem to get the wan function to work properly with my phone. Can I just download the updated map to any sd card and load it? We went on a road yesterday missing in the karoq map and my daughters postcode does not exist even though they were on the Yeti map. Karoq map is 19/20 installed. Is there a link to the site for latest map if doing it manually, and does it matter which sd card slot to use? Thanks
  12. It took a few weeks for my left foot to stop twitching to do something after going dsg in my 2017 yeti, and to learn to have confidence in it. No going back now, will never have another manual car again by choice. I now drive a dsg Karoq where it is combined with auto handbrake and is even easier to drive. Unlike the Yeti now no need to keep my foot on the brake when stationary to stop the car trying to engage the clutch. I now know that was a feature sadly missed on the Yeti dsg.
  13. This is the only position the alloys will accept these days, as the outside of the rim will not accept them and anyway would look awful if used there like they did with clip on weights to steel rims. They just stick on and anyone with a balancing machine will use these now. Any existing weights are removed when tyres are replaced before balancing anew.
  14. Built March probably as components with late Feb dates in places
  15. Who knows, it was hidden inside an insulating cover which I didn't disturb, and is now gone. Indeed it is only the AA so far who have opened the bonnet.
  16. My new car two weeks ago had a flat battery next day. I put it down to playing around with the settings for some time with ignition on. AA boosted the car and I put it on charge for 4 hours with my smart charger. Ten the following week after two long trips totaling 150 miles, flat again. AAboosted and tested, said alternator was fine, car battery only charging at 10 amps when it should take 70. I drove the car 20 miles back to the dealer last Saturday, with AA following to make sure I got there. He explained the issue at the dealer, and the car was "fixed" yesterday, with a new battery fitted. AA guy says he has had a number of similar call outs to new Skodas, Audis and VW, all with the same battery fitted. Hopefully ok when I collect today.
  17. You must fit winter tyres to all 4 wheels for safety
  18. It takes at least 3 weeks to get from the factory to UK, so it must have been a dealer ordered car intercepted to meet your requirements. Dealers often swap cars amongst themselves if a customer wants a particular colour and options and someone has one coming. When you get a car built it takes at least a month or more to start on the production line from date of order as the various components have to be ordered so they arrive on time.
  19. My last Yeti was changed to fixed on delivery, despite my saying I wanted the mileage/use based interval that I had had on previous cars. I had to drop into the garage, some 40 miles from where I live a few months later when passing to get them to change it back. They just seem to assume all the cars should be supplied on fixed service intervals.
  20. I think my first Yeti took over 22 weeks to come back in 2010!
  21. 8 years worth of Yetis sold, Kodiaq was out in 2017 so 3 years worth, Karoq 2018 so there won’t be that many about yet. I had a 2010 yeti and you could go weeks back then without seeing another. Now they are all over the place.
  22. Didn’t stop me driving forward after parking and hitting a concrete planter which I could not see from the drivers seat. Scratched the bumper rubber bottom
  23. If there is a front facing camera in my car, it is ashame it doesn't also record like a dashcam and do two jobs at once
  24. I have checked and my Yeti winter wheels are 215/60R16 with 6j steel rims, offset et43, so exactly correct to use on the Karoq. Indeed it lists this wheel and tyre size on the filler flap as an option. All the tyres still have 8mm tread left after 2 winters use so should last a few more winters. How deep would the tread have been when new? I know they are supposed to be replaced at 4mm left.
