  1. It’s about time you could input the three words that define every small square on the earths surface. I have an app to determine what they are and this is far more use than a postcode in a rural area where one can cover several square miles. We are all supposed to have this app in case we have an accident so you can tell the emergency services exactly where you are
  2. I have a sim card in my car now, and that is obviously connecting online correctly and working with the sat nav to improve the traffic incident reporting, and it seems to change how the PinP works when split screen is selected. I noticed today going though several motorway junctions., it changes to a schematic view of the road with all the lanes, with a motorway style gantry over it. The lanes to be in is quite clear, however the upper three quarters of the gantry is hidden so you can't actually see the complete text on it which presumably relates to the various routes for each lane? The bit that is visible has road designations on, just unreadable. Is this normal on others cars, or a fault with mine? Other displays use that area of the PinP box for text so perhaps a clash set up in the programming?
  3. I dont actually know unit what is in my Karoq edition, MY20, but I just enter the postcode into the search bar, with or without a space and a few seconds later it offers me a destination to choose. Much simpler than previous Yeti where it had a postcode button if you found the right screen and you had to cycle keyboard between letters and numbers to put it in. The Karoq has all the letters and numbers on the one keypad display on the screen.
  4. My car was 3 days old when I set off from parked and didnt see, and forgot about, a large heavy concrete planter just in front of car. I pushed it abour 1m along! Scratches to rubber bumper section which fortunately sprang more or less back to shape, and a very slight mark on a painted section above. I had to clip the black rubbery area back into place where it sprung off. The cars emergency brakes didn't work either, as they do sometimes when trying to manouver through tight gaps. No issues to any sensors, everything still works correctly. I think the part I have slightly scratched costs £400 alone!!! I can live with it, hardly notices when dirty. If the part above was damaged as well £1k plus??
  5. My new car picked up mid August was built in March or very late feb. It broke down on day 2 with a flat battery when I tried to start it. AA got me going and I have a smart charger so left it on that overnight. Week later after several long trips I was having issues with cruise control not working. Next day failed to start again with flat battery. Car returned to dealer and they had to fit a new battery, fine since. AA guy says if the battery goes completely flat it often won’t take a charge again above a very low level. He had dealt with a number of similar callouts to Skoda, VW, Audi, VW etc. Your battery may have the same issue but held enough charge it went unnoticed. As above if not kept charged in storage the battery just dies.
  6. We bought my wife’s pre reg car from a dealer at 5 months old and 25 miles on the clock for £8500. Colour edition with dab radio and spare wheel. Decided this year 15 months on to just manage with one car so p/x it and my Yeti towards new Karoq. Had an excellent valuation on both cars and the same dealer we bought the 68 req Citigo from managed to sell it for £9200!! Value seems to have gone up as no longer made now and no similar replacement if you want a very small car
  7. Surely that just a badly fitted trim, The windscreen should be fitted with a line of glue all aound its rear edge inside bonding to the bodywork. More likely to be a blocked sunroof drain, if fitted, or a blocked drain in the scuttle area under the bonnet causing a pond which has found a route to overflow into the car

Now thats interesting, garage register the car, pay the hugeinitial tax and take it off the road before the following month which you can do legally. Do they get 11/12's of tax back and new owner of 1 month old car pays the reduced amount, or is it a once and for all charge with no refund. They can't pass the paid for tax on to the new owner anyway as it has to be renewed on purchase? The owner pays the tax, it can't remain on the car now and this catches many out, buying a car and driving it home. They may have arranged insurance but it can't get taxed that quick! Theoretically could I take my 3 month old car off the road, get a refund of near £900, and then retax again at £155????

Yes mine cost £1305 on registration. However better than a few years ago when the Ford Mustang was £1150 a year, for ever. So buy a second hand pre April 2017 Ford Mustang and annual road tax stays at £1150 or so, can't recall exact amount Buy a post April 2017 Mustang or similar and after the pain of year 1 it is £150 like my car will be, plus annual inflation. I know which age I would buy! A pre April 150 Yeti was £185 every year.
  10. Why not just raise the seat up higher using adjuster? A cushion is a very bad idea as she could slide off the seat under the lap belt in an accident. Seat and belt designed to work together and not have a loose cushion in there as well.
  11. It fine in the rear. Very tall son fits. Ride on 19” wheels is far better than previous Yeti on 17”. Love the auto brake as well.
  12. I thought like that and have not had a spare wheel in Yetis for last 10 years. Had 4 punctures i that time, fortunatley 3 on drive noticed next day. Still a pain to get fixed. However have just fitted a space saver kit to my new Karoq 4x4 and it is nowhere near as bad for taking space as that in the Yeti. For a start it is a true spacesaver and much narrower than the Yeti standard spare which was still limited to 50 as different to other wheeels. Now if i have a flat out of hours the AA can fit the spare, you can only realistically get a wheel repaired or replaced during working hours. I did have a blow out on A38 once and AA took me and wheel to Kwik fit to get a new tyre. Don't know what would have happened out of hours. Very time consuming to be relayed home if no spare. I would also think twice before changin a wheel at side of road now.
  13. You have to connect the car to a wan source first via your phone, and then you can update the maps etc. Then next time it fails again to set up the wan!! To get Skoda connect to work reliably I bought a £10 sim card from 3 which gives 1gb for first month and then gives you 200mb free per month after that and set it set to mobile data only. This seems to work fine and 200mb should be all I ever need. You can use a sim card for phone as well and not have the car connect to your phone for that but it is expensive as you need to keep topping up the card. If you use it for calls the car will have its own phone number. When doing an online update remove this sim card and use your phone, or the house wifi if close enough otherwise it will more than use the data. A map update is multi gb of data and takes ages.
  14. I have the winter tyres on black steel wheels. Despite being told by the company who sold them to me for my Yeti that they are the wrong size, they are actually exactly correct size and offset and tyre size specified for Karoq and listed for pressure on the filler flap. Must have wanted to sell me a 17 or 18” winter wheel and tyre which may not even be type approved? These looked quite mean on a black Yeti with black wheels so should look ok on my black Karoq.
  15. In my Yeti I loaded the latest VW Tiguan update about 18 months ago and that had roads on still missing in latest skoda karoq map! With new car it seems to be official Skoda map or nothing? Unless there is a workaround.
  16. I have a 190ps edition model. Presumably this pointless sound pollution is omitted from my car? As an aside is there any way to get the car to default to E mode on start up rather than having to select this every time?
  17. Silly question maybe, but I have ordered a spare kit for my 4x4 with the space saver. If I ever use it does the cover still sit on the full size wheel which will need to go in the boot? In the Yeti the cover had a hinge arrangement to let it sit flat but higher. Slightly concerning as the car will regularly do long trips to Norfolk from Leeds and full of luggage. So with the normal punctured wheel in the boot will the floor not be supported properly to hold the luggage? Sitting on wheel in centre but sides not supported around wheel?
  18. I quite liked the sound if the 3 cylinder engine fitted to my wife's Citigo. Sounded like a turbine spinning up when accelerating hard yet smooth at the same time as a 3 cylinder makes more sense than 4 from a balancing point of view
  19. Why not find some thick polystyrene blocks used for packaging and stick them together to form spacers the right height. Place under the trays you have already to support at correct height. They can be filed to the correct thickness and should cost nothing. Then when you lift the floor it will look as though it was meant to be like that. Once correct stuck them to the tray underside so it all lifts out in one piece.
  20. My 190ps Edition was in the showroom when I took my Yeti in for a haldex and brake service. I ended up having this free and driving the Karoq home next day last month. 20 reg but useful saving to get it out of stock before reg change and hopefully I will keep it for some time.
  21. Is it don't by camera as many signs are damaged missing or hidden by veg. My car displays the speed limit on the dash but this is the same as in the satnav display when selected and is sometimes wrong if the speed limit has changed since last map update?
  22. I think there is a new 200ps diesel pending which meets incoming emissions requirements. No doubt range will expand again once available

Well as I live in Yorkshire my Black car must have been the right choice!
  24. The clutch is not in contact in this vehicle when stationary and hence is not slipping. It is completely disengaged until you apply some throttle as that is how the auto brake hold woks. It can be slipping in other cars such as my previous Yeti where you had to keep the footbrake applied when stationary or select neutral or park before releasing footbrake. I do agree though that wear can occur when in very slow traffic such that the clutch has to slip to prevent the engine stalling. I much prefer the wet clutch in my car though to dry clutch versions as wear is minimal to non existent in a wet clutch vehicle. I read about a taxi somewhere which was at a huge mileage, 540k I think, and still on original wet clutch and dsg. Dry clutch will wear, likely maximum life of 120k to150k if lucky.
  25. Done some further research and the heated windscreen and washers in my car are an extra cost option so you may not have that unless included in original order spec.
