  1. There is underreading and incorrect Illegal readings. A speedo that previously said 32 at a true 30 is still ok if it now reads 31 at 30. It’s not legal if it says 29. As the tyre wears speedo will read faster for same speed anyway. My car is about 73 at a true 70, and 75 with the winter tyres on as they are a touch smaller diameter.
  2. No my edition came with 225/45 R19 as well. Maybe they changed the Sportline later due to all the complaints about the ride on 40 aspect tyres as I thought it was originally on 235/40 and owners were complaining that they could not fit 45 aspect tyres to make the ride more acceptable as the speedo would have under read too much due to the tyre dia increase? Your planned change will also increase the dia slightly by 9mm or so and make the speedo under read slightly. Should still be legal though due to built in error but best checked? Something I have noticed though is that although the indicated speed is set to be higher than actually the measured distance traveled is spot on. Hence the car does actually know ts exact speed as well but displays a higher speed on the dash! Changing the tyre width at the same ratio will mean the car is travelling slightly further each wheel revolution than it thinks?
  3. The Yeti on 17” was a harsh ride really. I had two of them on these tyres and a greenline which came on 16”. The 16” suited the Yeti best which is why I fitted 16” winter wheels to my final Yeti. The 16” on the Karoq give a very comfortable ride but I would not push them too hard performance wise, which is fine in winter only. My standard 19” are back on now and surprisingly are much more comfortable than my previous Yeti on 17”. The cornering ability on the 19” is excellent. I may be in error but I think the 19” fitted to the top power sportline are wider and and lower profile than on my 190tdi Edition, and this caused a number of complaints about a too harsh ride?
  4. Yes but it is a so much more relaxing to drive with cruise engaged. I use it virtually all the time if road is reasonably clear to maintain an exact speed at the speed limit. (Allowing for speedo error and police allowance of slightly over- calibrated using a speed app on my phone. A true 70 is about 73 on dash so an indicated 75 or so is safe to do and is faster than most traffic) I find it quite hard to maintain a constant speed manually and you constantly need to look at the speedo. Worth any extra fuel used.
  5. This is my car on its 16” winter tyres . Please note that you can only officially use 16” with winter tyres fitted.
  6. And is always D after a restart from the button on the steering column (not after the car itself stops for stop/start) no matter what mode you set last time it was running.
  7. When you touch the brake in eco mode dsg clutch re-engages and gives braking, changing to lower gear if required.
  8. Yes that’s what I change. It reverts on next start to normal default mode
  9. I would like mine to stay in eco but it won’t, always back in drive after a restart. May stay in sport but haven’t bothered with that as still available instantly with gear selector when needed
  10. I thought the mode always reverts to standard when next restarted? My car does? If I select sport or eco mode the gear indicator goes to S or E. Turn off and restart and back to D again.
  11. The my20 car like mine is the same as yours. I can update the maps by connecting the car to house Wi-Fi and install the latest map. Takes ages though and you have to sit in the car with ignition on to do it.
  12. If you need sport it is instantly available by pulling back on the shifter. Then another pull a few seconds later once acceleration required is finished puts it back into eco mode. If I am driving say 170 miles to see our daughter why have it in sport mode for 4 hours driving on straight slow roads with little or no places to overtake? I may be in sport road for 10 mins at most!

If you fit a space saver to a 2wd car it uses the original boot floor and no spacers as the tyre fits into the recess in the metal. ifyou fit a full size spare you need foam spacers around the wheel and the raised boot floor which also has edges which fold up for access to items in the foam spacers voids such as tools. If you have a 4wd like mine it will only accept a space saver and uses the same foam spacers and raised floor. once the floor is raised you can no longer have a flat floor through if the seats are removable. In theory you can’t fit the raised floor if you have the removable rear seats as you can’t access the catches to release them. The kit fits the cars without this so should really stick with a space saver in 2wd cars and no spare or no full size on cars with varioflex seats. However some careful cutting of the relevant foam pad creates room for and access to the handles, so it will fit. I had to do this on mine when I added the spare.
  14. Yes, I had to have one when I bought my Edition. Avoided them in 3 Yetis due to reported issues. One of my neighbours has a 6 year old Yeti with sunroof though which has not had any issues so far. My Karoq sunroof does not create any noticeable wind noise when closed but I rarely open it as air con is better and quieter in use at speed. With the roof open noise is significant.
  15. Sounds similar to mine. Tdi but registered new after 4 -5 months in storage. Aug 2020 and good deal after lockdown and dealer needing to clear stock before registration change Car would not start next day. AA turned up and gave it a boost to get going. I blamed it on having the ignition on for some time with engine off learning and sorting settings. Did several reasonable trips over next few days, but noticed on a 40 mile trip for work that items were not working such as cruise control and stop start. Following day would not start on drive again despite 80 miles day before in August so no use of heated seats etc. AA again checked battery and it was virtually dead. New battery fitted at dealers and has been fine since.
  16. It’s not a standard lead acid battery. I have a suitable charger and it has to use a special mode when charging the fitted stop start battery. You must not use a conventional old style charger.
  17. There were a lot of cases of dud batteries around in 2019/20. Often caused by a manufacturing issue and allowing cars to stand for months due to Covid shutdown. This affected VW and Audi cars as well using the same one needed with stop start fitted. If the battery is allowed to go completely flat it may never recover completely. Some just failed anyway. My August, hence 20 reg car, had to have a new battery in the first week as it wouldn’t charge fully. You may have a less affected battery that has been able to charge slightly and hence it has managed to now.
  18. Like the Yeti had? A handbrake! However if you applied the handbrake and then released the footbrake before putting into N or P first it sat there slipping the clutch and trying to move!! I watched a curtesy driver from Skoda doing exactly that when giving us a lift whilst my Yeti was in for service - wouldn’t have wanted to buy that Octavia second hand! Personally I find the Karoq auto hold works perfectly and is a huge improvement to former Yeti, whilst it is easily disengaged when needed, so that it then works like the Yeti did and allows the car to start to move on brake release without applying any throttle. I often do that when in very slow traffic combined with selecting manual 1st gear so it doesn’t immediately select second when moving (and then goes too fast at engine idle speed for the queue movement)
  19. Yes go on eBay. Take a picture of your bolt close up then mirror image it. Compare the image to the numerous keys available on eBay from broken cars. You will almost certainly spot the right one as there are not that many actually used. All VW group use the same patterns as far a I know. I did this when I drove off in my Yeti with the key still on a wheel bolt and hence lost it. Found a replacement on eBay for far less than Skoda would have charged
  20. One thing though as the initial post included the need for a towbar? I have heard that towing a large caravan can more than halve the expected range? The other point is that no chargers I have seen to date would allow a car with a trailer still attached to park at it whilst charging. Trailer would have to be detached and parked elsewhere first. This was suggested to be the start of the demise of touring with a caravan. No such issues refuelling a normal car with a trailer attached! Not been thought through I think!
  21. How do I find out how many cars like mine were sold? 190ps tdi Edition registration Aug 20? Can you tell how many in a particular colour? As you did, I wanted a nice spec car but not at Audi or VW prices!
  22. That’s the whole point, car doesn’t know in D that you may need to floor the accelerator and go without warning, hence S is there and prewarns the car to be ready to accelerate away. I often select S in that situation or say braking for a tight bend where I will accelerate hard out of it
  23. The holes will be to let the air out when the seal is compressing as the door closes. Necessary or door will not close and seal correctly
  24. Possibly. My Karoq has 4x4 and a 190ps tdi and I have no issues at all with the gearbox and tight manoeuvring. This is the wet clutch version.
