  1. I was hoping this too, only just got my VRS when this group buy was ongoing and had a silly idea the car was fine standard.... a month or 2 later and now i understand what an STS is (lol) i'm kicking myself.
  2. Ok, i'll take a random batch of 10 different bands. How are you accepting payment? Paypal? I can send a gift payment now if you like. Jon
  3. Cool, cheers Baker took the plunge and ordered 1 from the Detailing World Group Buy last night anyway. Gonna need a bigger shed with all the detailing stuff i'm accumalating, damn that site, lol. Due to your detailing threads i've already bought 3 new detailing products the last 2 weeks, just need some dry weather to try them all out.
  4. How much for postage for say... 10 bracelets? Would you sell a random selection of 10 for £10 posted? Jon
  5. Silly question but do these lances require the high pressure of a pressure washer, i only ask as i'm looking to buy one but the mains water pressure in our house is very poor. Will this affect the foam in any way? Thanks, Jon
  6. I bought the connects2 one from eBay about a month ago, does the job. Can only change tracks on the iPod and be wary that the lead doesn't charge the iPod either. But for £32 ish delivered you can't complain. Jon
  7. Hi, after 1 months ownership I realised this weekend I have no boot light. After a bit of digging I found the bulb holder in my spare wheel well, but now can't for the life of me find where it's supposed to be mounted. Can some one point me in the right direction, pictures would be awesome. Thanks, Jon
  8. Without proof you'll never really know. Just looking at a belt like that won't reveal much. If your concerned at all then it's best to replace it. I know it's extra money but consider the alternative.
  9. I'll try and get along to this, being a newbie to VAG would be good to meet some fellow enthusiasts. Jon
  10. Awesome cars, i'm a massive fan. I've been an active user on www.pumapeople.com for the last 2 years from when i bought my Ford Racing Puma - basically a wide arched track ready edition of the Puma. There is a recent project post i've been following on Pumapeople where someone has recently bought a second Puma for a track car on 100k and still going strong, saw it going round the track at Ford Fair at Silverstone a couple of weeks ago and it did very well. I'm not sure how far you'd get with 1k budget, as said careful with rust on the rear arches, and bottom of doors. Budget for coilovers (AP's and Weitec are a popular choice) + a proper set up and corner weighting, polybushes all round will cost £200 ish and probs worth grabbing an exhaust system, manifold + de-cat/sports cat and cat back - miltek and Piper are popular, for brakes you can get a 300mm disc and pad set up cheaply enough from a mk3 Mondeo - again a common upgrade. All depends how far you want to go. You may also consider a Mk5 Fiesta Zetec S for a similar experience, i was impressed with the 2 i owned but the 1.7 in the Puma and VCT really do make a huge difference to the 1.6 in the Fiesta. If you consider the Fiesta Zetec S a popular engine conversion is infact the 1.7 from the Puma - keep an eye on eBay they can be bought cheap. I've also been an active member on www.zsoc.com for the past 6-7 years and both the mentioned sites are full of useful info and as the cars have become cheaper the last few years more and more project threads are popping up about "conversions" to track cars.
  11. I had this on one of my old cars (non VAG) i drained the washer bottle, rinsed through with hot soapy water and a hose for a bit of pressure, also there was a filter to clean out that was coated in slime. Perhaps there is a filter somewhere near the pump on your screen wash bottle that maybe needs a clean?
  12. I use a RedX treatment in my TDDI Mondeo on 116,000 miles, before use i would average 500 miles to a tank, after a few tanks with RedX included i managed to easily get 550 miles more leaning toward a 600 mile tank. I have only owned the Mondeo 9 months ish so can't comment on any engine damage, it runs fine at the moment though.
  13. Thanks for the pointers. I think i'll take the plastic arch liners and mud flaps off when we get some dry weather, give the arches and sills a clean and treat if necessary with a rust treatment then underseal, the underbody subframes etc can be done when i have access to a ramp. I only ask as i come from a long history of Ford ownership....... with a Ford it pays to prepare for these things.
  14. As per the title, just been browsing eBay sussing out what bits and bobs are supposed to be on my car and what isn't as it still seems to have a few left over bits from the police fitted, such as a round button either side of the centre console where the gearstick is?? Anyway i noticed a couple of Octavia's have a few bits of rust, my car has none that i know of and i was wondering if there are common areas which i could treat now to avoid future problems, i think i've found a car i'd like to keep for a few years with the VRS so want to look after it. Jon
  15. Don't think thats mad, seems perfectly sensible if your trying to save and £100 extra each month is a nice sum to tuck away. I've got a Y reg mk3 Mondeo 2.0 TDDI (earlier engine to the TDCI) ,which when i can be bothered i'll put up for sale now i've got the Vrs, which has been a great car to own, comfortable, spacious and quite nippy with good economy too. I'm a big fan of Mondeo's.
  16. I noticed last night you can the the tailpipe and a length of piping off eBay brand new for £26 which you would have to weld onto your existing backbox. I was wondering if this would be worth doing to tidy my Octavia up. My Vrs being ex police has not been cared for in terms of detailing and the exhaust has thick crusts of soot that im not confident autosol will remove, i'm planning to tackle it at the weekend anyway.
  17. Locking wheel nuts don't make much difference anyway, if someone wants your wheels that badly, they WILL get them. Took me less than 10 minutes to remove 4 locking nuts on my old car when my GF lost the key.
  18. For the seats i would recommend Autosmart dry foam upholstery cleaner.... http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Autosmart-Brisk-dry-foam-upholstery-fabric-cleaner-/150469786352?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM Its seriously great stuff, cleaned the delicate alcantara fabric on my steering wheel and seats in my Ford Racing Puma, also cleaned 10 years of heavy smoking off the headliner of my G/F's old Clio from an anthracite grey to an original light cream. Plus its a dry foam so no worries with damp seats. I need a vax for my carpets.
  19. Thanks guys, thats exactly what i thought the spacers were for. Gonna try and fit them in a sec without removing the bumper, should be nice and fiddly, lol. Found a nice rubber grommet to run the wires through.
  20. Hi, i've bought the same kit as the OP, this kit comes with some spacers for the sensors which when fitted will angle the sensors slightly towards the ground like so.... / The instruction manual seems to suggest they are needed, but i'm not sure they are as the rear bumper is a flat surface. Has anyone else used these spacers? Thanks, Jon
  21. Saw a new '10 reg clio today only saw the first part of the plate ..... CL10 *** - cool i thought.
  22. All done, 2.5 hours of fiddly hell, but 2 firm seat bases, my hands hurt alot now, lol. Recommend this to anyone though, as said simple enough job for a novice DIY-er and will save a fortune in the long run. Got a bit wet re-fitting the passenger side as it started raining. Found a weird box under the drivers seat, found to be a little speaker, must be left over police equipment - removed it anyway. Also found a square hole in my passenger rear mat and the carpet where more police equipment must have been fitted, annoyingly it was screwed to the floor plan...... now i have 2 screw holes where i can see through the car to the ground :-( Not sure how to sort this effectively to stop rust etc....mmm? Got to shampoo the carpets though! Next up all new badges.
  23. Know how you feel, bought mine on Wednesday, loving every minute of it. My girlfriend drove it to work yesterday and i found myself counting the hours til she came home so i could give it a clean and take it for a drive. Enjoy your purchase.
  24. I should be collecting my 2 seat bases from the dealership tomorrow, not looking forward to doing them one little bit. Mega downfall of buying an ex police octavia, both seats being worn.
