Is any one happy with their Octavia?
Lornak replied to bono's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk II (2004 - 2013)
I'm very happy with my motor, it is probably the best car I have driven so far. -
21.5 both sides most of the time and on Auto.

My mistake, misread, and got carried away.

I got two sets from superskoda. I had to do a little modification to the 501 ends - bend the wire back on themselves, just like the original 501 bulbs. Works a treat.

I had this symptom when I was traveling in Florida a few weeks ago. It happened only at night too because of the humidity of the outside air, so I turned the temperature of the cabin up a couple of degrees and the problem dissipated

Holding DSG in 'D' or 'S' mode when stationary

My DSG gearbox has a wet clutch. -
Octy 2 Alarm, Can a fly set it off
Lornak replied to Stuart_J's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk II (2004 - 2013)
Mine went off early last week, to prevent it from doing again in the middle of the night I pushed the button on the B-pillar and then locked it. MInd you, it hasn't done it since. -
Holding DSG in 'D' or 'S' mode when stationary
Lornak replied to Deepjoy's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk II (2004 - 2013)
I think the case with me is that I don't want to have the inconvenience of waiting for the fluid to cool down 'cos I left it in D too long standing still. -

If you were in a manual, how long would you hold the clutch on the bite point sitting at traffic lights - or would you knock the gear stick into neutral? I knock mine into neutral when I'm coming up to a red light when the speed is below 20mph, it changes back in quick enough should I get the light timing wrong anyway. -
Climate Control - Engine Fan
Lornak replied to Tomdeswrig's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk II (2004 - 2013)
Normal. It has got to blow air over the evaporator somehow. When the car is traveling the air is being forced through it, so no need for the fan. I would however like to know what the small fan is for. -
Yes, didn`t even use a screwdriver to prise it out. There is a groove on the side panel near the bottom of the glove box.

I have had a similar squeak that sounded like it came from the glove box. It drove me mad so I did some investigating on the car around that area and found it. In my case it was the top of the dashboard so I unscrewed the bolt (arrowed) a couple of turns and pushed the dashboard - squeak gone. So, I retightened the bolt and not a squeak out of it since - three weeks of varying temperature and still no squeak, "sort'd". SA/\/\

Octavia 1.9tdi pd or 2.0 tdi pd?
Lornak replied to juanhenry's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk II (2004 - 2013)
I test drove a 1.9 dsg and thought it was quite impressive, but went for the 2.0 dsg instead, as it was about the same mpg and only a few more quid on the insurance - and a lot quicker. -
I tried it for two weeks once I got my motor and I can't stand it - I prefer the Vaux Astra system where you can cancel it by pushing the stalk in the same direction. I've been doing the three ticks for years anyway.

My Pug 406 1.9td did. It idled at 1000rpm and the turbo came in at 1200 - nice.

I like your post, yashicamat.

Upgrading Interior courtesy Lights
Lornak replied to Rockatansky's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk II (2004 - 2013)
I have got two sets of these. Bright and cool in colour, it makes the standard bulbs look dim. http://www.superskoda.com/skoda/octavia-ii/skoda-octavia-ii-interior-led-dome-light The replacement festoon for the middle is a dummy one attached to a 10 LED board. The W5W bulbs are replaced by a dummy bulb with a 4 LED board attached. -
I too wondered what that was.

Yo, Bought my current car from these people, traveled all the way there twice - was worth it. Paul with whom I was dealing with was unfortunately off the day I went to pick it up. Generally a nice bunch of people - shame they're too far away. I too will recommend them.
