  1. Hi all, I just saw Yeti man's post regarding chrome window surrounds and I too have a query! I was looking at an Octavia 3 in a dealership a couple of days ago (1.6 tdi Elegance) and noticed that there was no ESP or TPS switch. I'm pretty sure that looking at the spec/brochure pictures for this model that they are standard. It had the Start/Stop switch and the driving mode switch, can anyone shed any light on this? Regards Richie
  2. I can't believe the Golf won - you would be paying 3-4 grand more in most instances. Its a no brainer, the Octavia should win by a country mile. A question, does anyone know what 'Golus' alloys look like? Regards Richie
  3. Hi all, As it happens! I was walking past my local Skoda garage this morning and noticed an Octy 3 TSI (don't know engine) around the back 'just delivered' - got quite excited! Looks like a lot of kit on it: Columbus, Bi xenons, park assist, heated seats etc. I will try to go back later and get some pics (do I need to be a paying member on here to upload pics?) cause tried to upload my own car a couple of weeks ago and couldn't do it! Regards Richie
  4. Hello there I've got winters on my VRS Alloys (18's) and I've seen the Octavia 3 wheel dimensions for the new 18 inch alloys (golus) and they match mine so I would guess the 17's do too - one on the Sennelager strip the beers alright in winter garden but the barmaids are better....Regards Richie
  5. I was scanning the Skoda Germany website today and they talk of the 1.8T 180Bhp coming in soon - why cant we be the same as the rest of Europe!! If they bring it over the water to UK I might be interested as soon I wont be doing as many miles and wont need my diesel. I think the 1.4T will be to small although its pretty pokey 0-60, 8.1 secs. Regards Richie
  6. Hello, difficult to compare at the moment but the new system will be better - the new Columbus will be available but in a different guise, A new Amundsen system will be available and standard on Elegance models. Columbus will be available as an option but for £800. Both will be DAB and be touch screen, you will be able to impress your friends as the screen will activate be you actually touch it - 'the force is strong in this one!' Hope this helps. Regards Richie
  7. Hi all, I've got a Steel Grey vRS which is apparently the equivalent to Platin Grey - nice colour. Regards
  8. Having a look through a load of Octavia 3 images online and found this one, don't know if its made up but looks very nice! Regards Richie
  9. I ran my previous car a Scout FL 1.8T on E10 for a couple fuel ups with no problems, only because it was cheaper!! I can't see it being a problem with the 2.0T but clearly don't take my word for it!!! Regards Richie
  10. Have a safe and pleasant trip - very jealous!! Regards Richie
  11. Hi all, i've got a 1 year old Manual Diesel VRS, i have recently noticed the service warning in the info display, its done about 19,000 miles (must be variable servicing?). I live in Germany and have recently got a quote from a local skoda stealer which was huge (much more expensive over here!) I'm back in the UK next week and think i'd be better off getting it done there, anyone know what its likely to cost - so i can compare. Regards Richie
  12. Hi all! I've returned home from work this evening and discovered a nice 2 inch long scuff by about 3 mm wide (thru to grey primer!) on the drivers side rear bumper, its right on the corner below the rear light on the middle crease. Its accompanied by another small scratch just below the light which is insignifigant in comparison to the big one! My colour is Race Blue and the catch is i get rid of the car in 2 months, otherwise i'd probably bodge it myself! Its too minor to claim for clearly, but i need to get it back to its former glory - the rest of car is in excellent condition. Do i fix it myself with some good advice from yourselves or go thru a minor repair company i.e. 'Chips away' or something, who, i don't know much about, i'm trying to keep the cost down! I live in Germany but i'm over to the UK in Aug for 3 weeks where i would be happier to get it fixed. P.S. The wife drives the car 90% of the time and was 'suprised' when i showed her it this evening, mmmmm..... Regards Richie
  13. Another thing (apologies i've not read all posts on this topic, so it may have been already mentioned!!) when driving in Austria you need your headlights on at all times, i've been pulled over for that one.... Regards
  14. I would probably go for a Diesel if I were you - 2.0 Ltr CR 140 Diesel.Regards.
  15. Another indicator if you have Maxidot is when you open your car and get in the display will show a car with the relevant door open, also on starting your car you will be presented with the message 'Skoda Information System' Although i do have a question, on my last car (Scout 1.8T FL) I had maxidot with MFSW, on my current car i don't, but on my next i have Maxidot ordered on its own without the MFSW (annoyingly!) How do you operate/scroll through the menu without MFSW? Regards
  16. I completely agree with you, in the 12 months i had with my 1.8T FL Scout i never saw another - now i see loads, i must say i thoroughly enjoyed my time with it apart from its thirst for fuel. Regards
  17. Thanks Andy - very happy with Vrs. As with Vrs on order not sure at the stage of build - may ring up next week for an update Richie
  18. i'm in a similar situation to yourself my previous car (scout 1.8t FL) had its rear fog light changed at a local stealers at a cost of 70 euros!!!! My current car (VRS Diesel) i got a mate to wire up from one fog light to another - which worked and powered up both lights but did give me an error code, however the car did pass the roadworthy inspection. I have another diesel on order (sept) and i'm interested like yourself if there's any easier option to switching the fogs over... Regards
  19. Cars owned: (H) Rover 216 GSI (box shape) ® Rover 216 SI (newer shape) (T) Golf GTI (1.8 20v) (W) Golf 1.6 SE (Y) Passat 2.0 Sport (T) Bora 1.6 SE (A bad buy) (54) Octavia 1.6 Elegance (Early Octy II - Let me down a few times) (10) Octavia Scout (1.8t) (11) Octavia VRS Diesel (Best car so far!) Current Car (62) Octavia VRS Diesel - on order due September Regards
  20. White out of the two - although i'd personally go for Steel Grey! Regards
  21. I'm getting 14.5 K as a trade in for a Diesel VRS hatch for September time (12 months old, approx 16k on clock) - this is thru Canterbury Skoda - i've been told the market at the minute is pretty poor, but is likely to pick up - i'll believe it when i see it... The options thing annoys me especially if you have sat nav, leather, xenons etc, as you get nothing for it - and the stealer will always price the car to the options fitted when selling it on . Regards
