  1. To add, no rolling road for me. Avon Tuning (and others) are very experienced with the EA888 and assure me the map is well within the DQ381 ‘box and the turbo’s parameters.
  2. I have my 272 booked in for a remap with Avon Tuning on 1st March. 272 is great but, as you say, 350 with AWD will increase drivability somewhat! My last car had 365bhp and I miss that. I have decided not to do anything else at this point. So no DSG map and no hardwear changes. Happy with the DSG as is. Changes are super fast and smooth. I want to keep the family bus just as it is, but with a little more power when needed. Will either start a thread or post up in ‘what have you done to your Superb today’ once done and driven a bit.

  5. Exactly the same with Kia with my Stinger. No lack of willing to fix the roof rattle, just no idea how to sort it. A design fault ultimately.
  6. A sunroof is great, but can cause grief. The pano on my 2014 Octy vRS estate was faultless, but the pano (really a wide sunroof) on my 2019 Kia Stinger GTS was a rattly nightmare. I doubt I will buy a car with a sunroof again.
  7. I have recently bought a 272 L&K hatch. As a Q car, the spec beats the SportLine IMO. I love the interior and the toys. 4x heated, 2x cooled, heated screen, Canton, etc etc. Very happy so far. Planning adding a Stage 1 remap in the next few weeks, so will be at about 340-350bhp. Won’t change anything else on the car. So, it will look like a taxi and go like a Golf R. Happy hunting!

  10. Hi all, update. The Superb is home. New windscreen ( @ApertureS no damage caused ), new gear lever, all four Pirellis now the same tyre, in dash aircon vents replaced (thanks @ApertureS ), tracking now spot on, two umbrellas now in place, rear isofix covers properly seated. My faith in Skoda’s used approved scheme restored. Yes, it would have been great if all this had been spot on first time round, especially as I paid top ££ for the car, but their response (eventually) to my complaints was really good. BTW, the Octy vRS 245 that I had for three weeks is a great car. Loved the virtual cockpit, tight seats and throttle response. Didn’t like the central screen controlling everything, especially as one touch often wasn’t enough, the fake noise (very wearing after a day or two of Subaru 5-pot burble - thankfully easily turned off), and the significant tyre and wind noise. Was I pleased do have the 272 Superb back? You bet. More refined, quicker, proper controls and much better screen, and I love the simplicity of the real dials in the binnacle. Finally, my daughter and I are delighted to be listening to Canton sounds again.
  11. Well, seems I’ll have the Octy a little longer. Skoda called to say the windscreen had developed a large crack. There was a small crack at the base of the driver’s A pillar when I got the car. It seems that, in taking off the trim to re-fit the broken ticket holder, they have disturbed the screen and developed the crack! 🤦‍♂️ They have ordered a new screen. The other issues are almost all dealt with, but the lane-keep assist and other gubbins will need resetting again after they had already sorted (we’ll see!) the tracking. So, the vRS will be with me deep into next week or even longer. Thing is, I am really enjoying the Octy. A lot. Fast enough, well enough equipped and just the right size! Mmmmm. I really hope the Superb is sorted to my satisfaction. It’s becoming a bit of a saga this one!
  12. Quick review. Initial impressions of the vRS are good. It feels taught and sporty, mainly because of the firm steering, fake (Impreza-like) noise and the firm suspension. Only Individual mode lets you turn these fake noise off. I like it, but I think the constant burble would get tiring after a while. It is torquey and quite quick, probably quick enough for UK roads. I like the interior too. Modern and looks and feels good in places - see negatives below. Stereo okay too, but lacking punch, so I would always have Canton. Wireless CarPlay is great too. Also really like the digital cockpit. It feels like a positive evolution from the Mk2 and Mk3, and almost different enough to be two generations on (Mk5). Negatives - fake noise (as above), needs DCC, well-specced but no reverse camera. Feels a little plasticky inside - door cards and fake carbon on dash feel cheap. Doesn’t feel quite as well put together as my Mk2 did. The fake noise in sport mode makes the left front speaker / door card vibrate badly - in a 22 ‘plate car. Not a good sign regarding build quality. The stubby gear lever is a nice touch, but should have been metal, not plastic. Wind and tyre noise suggest minimal sound deadening. Compared to my Superb, the slightly smaller Octy is nicer to thread around my local country roads, but the Superb really isn’t much wider. The Superb 272 feels quicker (it should as it is more powerful and has AWD) and more refined inside to touch and in terms of noise. Overall though, the vRS is a lovely thing and perfect for a nippy family hold-all. For me, a Superb is the right car, but if I was in my 30s again, the vRS would probably be the one.
  13. Skoda picked the Superb up this morning and have left me with a Petrol Octy vRS DSG for a few days. I had mk 2 and mk3 versions of this very car, so it will be interesting to compare it to both of those and the Superb 272 too. More pics…..
  14. Hi @mr93 the car is going back to Skoda on Wednesday under the used approved warranty for this issue and a few other niggles. They are providing an Octy estate and I won’t take the Superb back until satisfied it is sorted. 🤞🤞 I’ll update with what they find / say on here.
  15. Tried the reset / recalibration. Worked as per the YouTube video. But, didn’t solve it, in fact it clarified that the aircon flaps are the issue. The selling dealer has now agreed to take the car back and resolve the issues (quite a few) that the car has. He has also agreed to provide a courtesy car in the interim. We agreed Octy or above. I guess it’s not just the issues that a second hand car from a franchised dealership has, although their 1001 (or similar) multi-point checks are seemingly a joke, but how they subsequently deal with those issues that should define them and their customer service. I await the next chapter……….

  17. Hi guys, As per title, on a cold start, I have a noise behind the dash that sounds like a vent or similar opening but it sounds like it’s catching or insufficiently lubricated. Lasts about 10 seconds at most. Doesn’t happen when starting a warm car later. Air con related? Any thoughts gratefully received. 2018 272 L&K. Thanks!
  18. What car are you in? In mine (2018 L&K) the top button on the right side of the steering wheel takes you directly to the driver assist systems. You can then easily select what to have on or off.

  20. First motorway run out, down to Taunton with the lad. Now, this is a brilliant motorway car!! >40mpg too.
