  1. Enjoy the mild weather with a spot of cleaning the dirty diesel
  2. That looks great - any change of a rear diagonal shot to see how the wheels sit in the arches. One of my biggest gripes about my estate is that the wheels look a little lost in the arches
  3. I've got the Canton and TBH its still a little bit of a let down. The lows are very good but the punchy mid bass tones tend to overwhelm the system. There was a post on here a while back where someone replaced the Canton sub with a better dual coil unit. I love my sound so I'll be looking at the possibility of replacing the sub and / or tapping into the rear outputs and running a low pass filter to another sub in the boot.
  4. I keep mine in Eco mode all the time. I get the extra economy and also the throttle response, it's much more relaxed which suits my commute. I also prefer the extra lightness of the steering too. If I'm at a difficult junction or need to overtake I simply pull the shiftier back to pop it into S - the when I'm done it goes back to E. Not sure about the Eco and normal mode but I think its a compromise between E and S.
  5. I've seen lots on the DPF removal services but I also understand that the MOT tests will soon change to catch out those people who have had their filter removed. It could add up to some expensive times for people "forced" into after buying an older diesel that doesn't deal with DPF regeneration effectively. Think I'll just enjoy my RS for what it is - the risk of borking something mechanical or my DPF out balances the extra performance. Maybe I'll just get my bike license instead
  6. What's the score when it comes to tuning boxes / mapping. Its my understanding that the tuning is going to produce more soot which could shorten the life of the DPF. Has anyone seen any issues so far with this? I'm tempted with a DTUK tuning box but don't want to end up doing any damage to it and I.m concerned that the lack of a proper tuned "map" will cause issues going forward. Does that sound about right?
  7. I had no end of problems with a previous car so DPF issues were high on my list when I was looking for another diesel. I found a couple of link that might be helpful - one of which is for the Octavia http://www.hypermiler.co.uk/dpf-diesel-particulate-filter/skoda-octavia-iii-2013-diesel-particulate-filter-dpf-owners-manual-regeneration-faq http://www.hypermiler.co.uk/technical/the-diesel-particulate-filter-dpf-faq
  8. Love the stance on that with the 19s. Anyone got a pic of a white estate thats been tastefully dropped on 18s?
  9. http://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/287072-diy-black-upgrade-kit/ Looking at around £100 from Superskoda
  10. if you have the driving mode set to Eco the gearbox will drop into neutral if you lift off the throttle. Its caught be out a couple of times as when you get back on it the revs can drag the car a little as the revs match your speed.
  11. It really does take some careful and smooth driving to get good results from the tdi. Did a round trip of over 50 miles last night and managed 54 on the FCD. I've done the same route without my Hypermiling head on and it's easy to see less than 40. Keep your speed down, revs low and make the very most of the eco coasting mode.
  12. I find that it entirely depends on the track. The bass lacks a lot of midrange punch but can be well OTT with the lower bass tones. Wonder if it's something thats restricting the sounds like when you reverse for the sensor noise.
  13. Had mine for a couple of months now after having a 2013 C220 AMG Sport+. It's not built as well as the Merc but I love it! I really struggled with the saloon.
  14. I've got the first two and I'll be looking at booking mine in for the new year. Its the rattle in the B pillar that's really paining me. I'll be discussing with the dealer before it goes in to make sure it's not a wasted visit.
  15. Any chance of a picture of it sat in your boot? Cheers
  16. Last tank averaged 52MPG on both the FCD and using a proper fill to fill method. The car can be very efficient - just depends on how you drive it.
  17. I'm really happy with mine. Its very quick off the line and more than enough poke for normal driving. I certainly wouldn't want one with any less power. Only gripe for me is road noise but thats pretty much across the entire model.
  18. How does the DSG box cope with the extra power from the DTUK box? I understand that it surpasses the torque limit in lower gears? I'd love the extra overtaking shove but I really don't want to break anything
  19. Thats great news - does it extend the frequency range of the unit? Shame you're quite far away or I'd have asked for a listen before I go out and buy one!
  20. Did a fill to fill tank today - seems that for me at least the FCD is near enough spot on!
  21. Great news! can't wait to hear how you get on Some images of the canton wiring and how you extended it would be great. Cheers
  22. If your wife drives anything like mine then that's probably about right! She has no concept of the accelerator having any travel - it's either on or off. Then its hard on the brakes to stop - rinse and repeat.
  23. Maybe try some Hypermiling, some of the tips can make a bit difference however some a well OTT! http://www.hypermiler.co.uk/hypermiling/hypermiling-techniques
