  1. That's exactly what they are saying - although, of course, they could introduce a replacement offer at any time, but in the meantime you can't even guess what you are going to pay for your car if you don't win the delivery time lottery. The fact is that with the offer a Skoda is a decent buy - without it it is not - seemples!
  2. Check out post #8 Here I reckon this is a bit of a (self-made) mess on SUK's part.
  3. Sounds to me as though the only change they had to make was to actually place the order
  4. He might be right - but that ain't what it says on SUK website PS - if it was me I would get that in writing before ordering
  5. The way I read it is that you don't know what extra you will have to pay. Strict interpretation of the SUK offer is that if delivery is after 31 Dec 2010 the current 'no VAT' offer doesn't apply - that means that the actual price to be paid would be subject to whatever 'offer' replaces the current one - if any - regardless of the VAT rate at the time (which we know will be 20% if the Finance Bill gets through). As I said, Marketing Department haven't thought this one through (no surprise there then). Uncertainty big style from beginning of September
  6. Note that the VAT-free offer (at present) only extends to cars delivered before 31 December. So who's going to order a new car after, say, beginning of September then? Marketing Department haven't really thought this one through, have they?
  7. Thanks - no more questions now from me (on this topic at least) until I get the car
  8. Thanks for this. Does it play one file after another, but within the same folder (album), or does it start 'hunting' other folders (albums)?
  9. I had a look at "playlists" and it strikes me that it is a workaround to a problem that only arises with thumping great cards with zillions of tracks (maybe I exaggerate a little). I have ripped a couple of CDs and it looks as though I can get about 20 albums on a 2GB card (at 256Kbps - not sure that the sound system or the ambient noise in a car will justify using 320Kbps - maybe 192Kbps would be enough (or 25 albums)). So I can carry 1 postage-stamp sized card rather than 20 CDs - looks like a 'win' to me. When the card is full I can get another for about a fiver, and however I value my time this makes more sense to me than messing about with playlists - especially if they need altering whenever new albums are added. Can I ask a further question (and don't forget - I haven't got the car yet)? If I adopt the folder structure in post #1 and I play Hendrix\album1\track1 , what happens when it finishes? Does it move on to track2, then track3 etc? That is - can I just choose an album and play it from start to finish, or does it do something else?
  10. I have had a RGM Rearguard on my X-Trail for a while now - to avoid 'the dog problem'. I absolutely recommend it. Will fit one to my new Octy estate as soon as it arrives.
  11. Thanks everyone - just what I was looking for PS - what a helpful place this is
  12. I haven't got my new car yet (Elegance 1.8 TSi estate - due Sept) but I have downloaded the manuals, including for the Bolero. Having noticed that a 1GB SD card will hold something like 350 tracks in *.wma format (better quality than *.mp3, I believe), plus of course podcasts, this is a faciltiy that I may wish to use. However I have never had this facility on a car 'radio' before and the manual is not especially helpful. Has anyone used it? For example, what file structure can you use? Can you adopt a folder hierarchy like this - Hendrix - Album 1 - track 1 - track 2 - ... etc - Album 2 - track 1 - track 2 - ... etc - Led Zeppelin - Album 1 - track 1 - track 2 - ... etc - Album 2 - track 1 - track 2 - ... etc If so - How can you select the album you want? What appears on the screen? (pics would be good if you can manage). Any guidance will be helpful.
  13. This is what the current manual says Single-trip memory (memory 1) The single-trip memory collates the driving information from the moment the ignition is switched on until it is switched off. New data will also flow into the calculation of the current driving information if the trip is continued within 2 hours after switching off the ignition. The memory will be is automatically erased, on the other hand, if the trip is interrupted for more than 2 hours. Total-trip memory (memory 2) The total distance driven memory gathers data from any number of individual journeys up to a total of 19 hours and 59 minutes driving or 1.999 kilometres driven and on vehicles which are fitted with information display* up to a total of 99 hours and 59 minutes driving or 9.999 kilometres driven. The memory is deleted when either of these limits is reached and the calculation starts from anew.
