  1. My bar wasn't 19mm. I think you can use that Option Code lookup tool (http://igorweb.org/equidec/), or whip out your micrometer J
  2. Fuel gauges are notoriously rubbish. The best thing to do is to brim the car - wait until the pump cuts out, let the fuel settle and fill again until the pump cuts out the second time. Reset your trip and drive around. When it's nearly empty (it doesn't matter exactly when), go back to the same fuel pump and do exactly the same thing as before. The fuel you put in the second time is the fuel you used driving the distance shown on the trip. I write the trip distance on the fuel receipt and collect them all up. You'll get an even better average (eventually cancelling out randomness in the pump cut-off level) over a couple of tank-fulls. FWIW, my Octavia just about meets the Combined Cycle figure (54 mpg) and my driving is a mix of town, country and Motorway. The indicated mpg is about 10% too high and the miles-til-empty figure always falls faster than I'm driving (it starts off at about 700 miles, but the tank is empty after 550). J
  3. You can clearly see the bush, the bracket around it and the bar running through it in the second shot. J
  4. I'm glad I drive a Skoda, not a Corsa - some of those comments on CorsaWorld are  :thumbdwn: The guy has obviously planned what he wants to do with his new car and probably took a great deal of enjoyment in doing it. All credit to him for having the determination. I wouldn't go to those extremes, nor would most people, but that doesn't mean we should make derogatory comments. Why is it this country always kicks people for making an effort?! I think I'll go wash my car now... J
  5. Mmm, two tone. I've got the beige/black interior in my Octy Mk1 and I don't think I could have anything else. Black/gray is just too drab but beige really lightens the interior up nicely (ooh, beige, how old do I sound! ) In the picture on the 'Upholstery' selector on the website, spec-1 only has a single-DIN stereo, thus making it stick out less. But on the equipment page, it says all specs come with the double-DIN Dance unit. Oh well. Maybe that's a European thing. I wonder if they'll put the MFD2 in there as an option? On the whole I think the new Fabia looks quite smart. I'd be interested in a test drive, with a mind to picking up one of the earliest examples in a years time or so. J
  6. Perhaps SUK should chip in for some vRS hats to wear to GTi International J
  7. Škoda Accessories Cool! The MFD for the Octavia A4 is
  8. It's the start of my girlfriend's final degree show that weekend, so I can only do Sunday. If lots of people are staying in Hotels in the area, how about a (short) run down from Leicester on Sunday morning? 1) JASON. 2) Stu & Chrissi (Travel Lodge Liecester Central) 3) 51OctyTDi (Jon) - Sunday only J PS: Is it me, or is that form broken? The 'Submit' button has a link around it, which goes to a page that doesn't exist!
  9. I know it quite well. It's just down the line from Peterborough, where you can change for trains to the Midlands (Leicester, Nottingham, Birmingham, etc). St Neots station is right on the edge of town though, so you'll probably want change for a Taxi. Where are you coming from? PDF map of the rail network: http://www.nationalrail.co.uk/system/galleries/download/print_maps/uk.pdf Google map of St Neots station: Google Maps J
  10. Wow. Was it really that long ago? This'll bring back (painful) memories... Good to here it's back up and running again. Perhaps it deserves another trip to Mallory Park, right back where it left off J
  11. I've got myself a weekend ticket for Rockingham (21/22 April). Anyone else going? J
  12. Sounds right to me. On my 2001 Elegance, the temperature on the left is the outside temperature. The temperature on the right is what it is trying to maintain inside. The two sensors on the unit are reading internal temperature, but that's not displayed - unless it's just been started, or you've just adjusted it, desired and actual cabin temperature should be pretty close! The temperature in the dash pod is also outside temperature. It switches to that mode automatically when it hits 4 degrees C as an ice warning, which is quite annoying because if the temperature drops as you're driving along, it's a bit confusing when you glance down at what you usually have it set on. "3.5 mpg? Bloody hell ... no, wait ...". J
  13. I managed this today without even trying! I filled it up last night, resetting the trip on the right hand side when I did so, and then did a fairly typical round trip today, 60% motorway, 20% town, 20% B-roads. The figure on the left is from the return journey - it wasn't nearly that good this morning Look how much is left in the tank too. Sometimes heavy traffic on the motorway (steady 55 amongst all the big lorries) is a blessing. Increase congestion (slightly) and save the planet! J
  14. I usually change up at 3000rpm, but if I'm in a hurry I'll double my speed going from 2000 to 4000. Let it go to the red line every couple of days to keep the variable vanes nice and free. Lasts 27,000 miles between services! J
  15. Well the other day I received my refund from paypal. I also received the genuine map disk from NavShop.com and the difference is like night and day. On this copy, for starters it's a pressed disc. Secondly, the print quality on the disk and the casing doesn't look like pants! Watch out for anyone selling Tele Atlas CDs on ebay for silly prices. If they're doing "Or Best Offer", check out what they're actually letting them go for on previous auctions. Do you think you can get the real thing, brand new, for £30? Yeah, right! In my opinion, the pirate copy is worthless. FWIW, bluespot.co.uk sell the discs for about a tenner less than Navshop, plus they include free postage and navshop charge about £8, but they don't do the combined UK + MRE pack (which is a bargain). Rant over! J
  16. Fabia 12v: Maybe TeleAtlas will do you an exchange? What year disk is it?
  17. Eddy: I don't want to say in public until I've got my refund.
  18. The guy I bought it off is claiming he thought they were genuine and will return the CD to his supplier in Italy. He's offering me a full refund. I think I'll just go to navshop.com, TeleAtlas's own online store J
  19. My Octavia TDi 110 is group 11! No wonder it's expensive to insure :( The TDi 90 is only Group 7. Anyway, it's only going up to 23 so that's not too bad. J
  20. How can you tell if you have a genuine satnav disc? I've bought one off eBay but it's a CD-R. You can tell by shining it in the light, and by checking the discinfo on your PC. My Tele Atlas 06/07 DX map disc show: Type: CD-R Size: 50:33:47 444.4MB Sessions: 1 System id: Solaris Volume ID: cd1-2394 v2 Publisher ID: TELEATLAS_DEUTSCHLAND_GMBH Preparer ID: TELEATLAS_DEUTSCHLAND_GMBH Application ID: MKISOFS ISO 9660/HFS FILESYSTEM ... (there's more here, but I'm typing this out by hand...) 1 track, 0-227521 sectors, 227522 sectors total (50:33:47) The print on the disc also looks suspect. It's slightly fuzzy around the edges. Has anyone got a genuine disc (purchased from navshop.com or possibly satnavsystems.com) they can run up and check? I'd be surprised if TeleAtlas were shipping CD-Rs, but you never know. Not called fleabay for nowt :( J Edit: Checking on navshop.com, the EAN on the back of of the CD case is for this item: United Kingdom - Ireland 2006/2007 - ITIS - Blaupunkt TravelPilot DX So why do I have a double CD package with Major Roads of Europe included as well?
  21. I think these are the right maps. 2007 edition. United Kingdom - Ireland 2007 - Blaupunkt TravelPilot J
  22. Best I've managed is an indicated 72mpg, but mine reads around 10% over. An indicated 55-65 is typical (50-60 actual). J
  23. Agreed, Cruise Control doesn't really slow you down. It sets your minimum speed, not maximum! I wish it had a speed limiter on it because that would be really useful. Maybe I should just wait until the turbo blows up, that'll slow it down a bit J
