  1. Heck of a price tag to the VW vans though. I've been looking at the PSA stuff, vauxhall and even mercs, which also have a price tag. One that drops like a rock! Got close to 40% off a new pug van... Bonkers.
  2. I'm likely to have the race on, keeping one eye open. Whilst no lmp1 action, beyond Toyota not winning which has to be worth a bet, I'll be doing briskoda server, software upgrades. What are you hoping for from the race weekend ?
  3. See my post above, contact Jordan directly now. I'm going to be in and out this weekend. I think you'll be in sight of the car, so I don't think they will be driven quite like that... Typically if it's a new car, the press office will supply it. But for 'older' cars they have to turn to communities like ours. I don't think they'd be daft enough to rag a real persons car...not unless a suitcase of case was present re estates @67Mark they have not said no, the latest mail was a mlII so not necessarily the year restriction planned.
  4. ok slight bump, it's now not the BMM, but the Haynes museum @LGM I'd say as close to standard as looks go... probably not if it's radically different visually. Drop Jordan an email jordan.livermore [at] northonetv.com
  5. There will be more! I've been musing with a 'car' or a converted van for camping/living in. Weekend warrior or long road trip. Reckoning a kodiaq to rs to whiz down to spain/france then kip on the roof.... https://www.ikamper.com Might actually work with the load space... But a transit is only 38seconds slower Don't even need to pack my bed away for 80% of the experience. ( Don't have children, just me and the other me's to transport )
  6. No, true, however he can do noise and babble very well I dare say the transit had less arch room too I am always intrigued by marketing departments. Sister brought a XC90, I said how amazing the hill control was... she's had it 6months and does not know where it is. I had one for 5 minutes, admittedly had an instructor and ex f1 driver next to me too fun days seeing what 99.8% of these SUV's will never do and what they can do... Quite surprised they are holding on to the diesel line too. Actually very surprised given the swing of late. SWMBO has had the inside track for 20years on diesels being worse for air pollution...
  7. Not from here. It's all relative. I seem to recall Jon doing 8min something's in his diesel octavia when people were amazed Clarkson was doing 8min somethings in a funky big Jag...
  8. Mladá Boleslav, 14 June 2018 – Emotion, dynamism and passion – ŠKODA combines all of these qualities with the ‘vRS’ initials. Even before its market launch, the Czech car manufacturer’s first high performance SUV, the ŠKODA Kodiaq vRS, proves that it can hold its own on the most challenging race track in the world. Racing driver Sabine Schmitz set the lap record for a seven-seater SUV at the Nürburgring’s legendary Nordschleife in the ŠKODA KODIAQ vRS, highlighting the car’s performance qualities. The Kodiaq vRS extends the range of vRS models in the ŠKODA line up. Sabine Schmitz achieves the fastest time for a seven-seater SUV around the Nürburgring’s legendary Nordschleife in the ŠKODA Kodiaq vRS With the sporty version of its large SUV, ŠKODA is rigorously continuing the tradition of its performance models ŠKODA Kodiaq vRS will make its debut at the 2018 Paris Motor Show Fuchsröhre, Schwedenkreuz and Karussell – these sections of track on the Nürburgring’s legendary Nordschleife are well-known to motorsport fans all over the world. No other race track is more challenging and nowhere else are drivers and vehicles pushed to their limits like they are on the 20.832-km-long circuit in the Eifel region. The ŠKODA Kodiaq vRS withstood the track conditions in the ‘Green Hell’ and, at 9:29.84 minutes, set the Nordschleife record for a seven-seater SUV. Sabine Schmitz was at the wheel of the ŠKODA Kodiaq vRS during the record-breaking lap. Schmitz regularly participates in the long-distance championship (VLN) and the 24-hour race at the Nürburgring and in 1996, she became the first woman to win the 24-hour race and won again the following year. Having long been a ‘Ring Taxi’ driver and as a presenter on various car shows, she has become well-known to a wide audience. Schmitz estimates she has driven more than 30,000 laps on the Nordschleife to date. František Drábek, Head of Compact Models at ŠKODA AUTO and responsible for the development of the Kodiaq vRS, was also present at the successful record attempt. He points out that, “The Kodiaq vRS equally embodies the versatility and spaciousness of a family SUV as well as emotion and dynamism.” The new 2.0 BiTDI engine produces 239 PS. This allows for dynamic power delivery and excellent responsive qualities, even at low engine speed. Exhaust gases are purified by an SCR catalytic converter. In the Kodiaq model range, the 2.0-litre BiTDI diesel engine is exclusively reserved for the vRS, and thanks to Dynamic Sound Boost, the high-torque diesel engine’s power is immediately apparent. With adaptive Dynamic Chassis Control (DCC) including Driving Mode Select and progressive steering, the all-wheel-drive vehicle – which was still in its camouflage wrap during its appearance in the Eifel region – was perfectly equipped for its record-breaking lap at the Nordschleife. The ŠKODA Kodiaq vRS will celebrate its world premiere in October of this year. It will be presented to the public for the first time at the 2018 Paris Motor Show Pictures
  9. Ok all, stay tuned Details to appear in the shop shortly. I'm having a chat with myself and expect to overhaul the whole sticker thing now Two updates: 1. retro is coming. 2. retro is coming in two forms, a mono and a 'tri colour' or original retro I guess. The mono's might look a lot like this or this or even this chrome magic I'm going to see if I can make it work that the as the others will be free for a bit. Still awaiting final pricing on the 'printed tri colour'. When I say free, there will be some postage, because you know, royal mail, don't work for free Right over to you, what colours do you like the look of? Or are you holding out for the printed tri colour update?
  10. Hi all, Had a request from Fifth Gear for an owner and car for some filming. The shoot is at the Haynes Motor Museum, the date is the Friday, 22nd of June. The details and if you can make it, please contact me for more info and of course, who to actually contact Is that you and your car?
  11. Hi all, not mad keen into cycling, so not going to spend weeks reading up on chainsets! ( They all say that right ) I'm after ( I think ) a new bike to get me out the door and up a few trails/bridleways. My use case is probably more road, peak so hills (strines etc), tracks, like made trails, scottish estate tracks, occasionally grass, mud. Possibly weekend tour, again scotland remote long walkins that can be biked. I presently have a marin california which was gifted to me by someone shorter, flatty handlebars, pedals etc... I'm not certain it's the right size for me, getting that checked soon-ish. Of course if it's 'ok' I'll likely persevere... or not now the worm is in my head. I'm not into mad fast downhill, i.e. body armour. But I might tackle some of the trails, like the mountain bike founders of old more than a full suspension thing. I want the bike to try and get some cardio, and avoid running, because knees. I'm after one bike in the garage/car! I've been advised a 'grit' bike might be a good call, but then also just a hardtail mtn bike. I intend to gift the marin as it was gifted to me. Finally, there is a new-ish 'trek' shop near us in sheffield. Now some nice kit in there! Including a thing called a checkpoint ALR5. Now my gut says own brand shop, must be something about them, but also must be a good wedge of profit too! Which leads me to, are these like the mclaren/porsche etc of the bike world and is there actually something representing far better value? Like an alpkit sonder camino. Welcome thought and advice for use cases outlined above Budget wise, as much as I baulk at the 1700figure, I'd hope not to spend more for a few years (It's not a mainline hobby (yet))
  12. That's one I sort of hovered over, except I was trying to find the rocking horse poo ones in estate form The engine and general overalls should be ok in this sort of car. Not like the 3.6's are ragged, becuause the superb was/is such a sleeper. Shame it's gone, prob not much to sort and a good stick to bash the price down, if you have the patience to do so and undertake remedials.
  13. 1) Dave Ash And Rose (Friday, sat, sun night) 2) Bryand 3) Pete (skud vrs) 4) Jason (Devenutopia) 5) Alan 6) Phillip 7) LGM 8) ColinD Missed last years due to being in the alps.
  14. It depends which bit is red. Is there a message as well or is it just the signature box that is red? You should be ok to add images, links to your signature. If it's the exact same code it might fail. I'd grab the latest code from spirit monitor to be sure. *copy the old one to a text file first *
  15. Welcome to the site, that reg does ring a bell. Pics would be great, still miss my MK1 vrs.
  16. On paper there is a difference. Now many years ago, like 2002 era. Insurance spotted run out with friends, so we knew each other and where to back off. Anyhow the point, on paper the octy was down a good bit to a Subaru or Evo, not just in power! On normal road's pushing on, rarely would they be that far up the road. No much more the octys smaller turbo, was quicker to spool only when the road was long did the big top end grunt power kick in. No not the same, not equal but not so big a gap as one would think. Good luck on the hunt... I went from 200+ to 75 and enjoyed having to think some more. I'm going up next time though. Although I have heard the 330d as unholy, when it came to overtaking. That owner traded for a Suzuki Swift...
  17. Oh I do like a challenge. I've no idea what this is, let's say it's Humphreys fusebox. Welcome.
  18. From the man himself, a very interesting and good talk from the man, Fred Abagnale.
  19. So I didn't have any beer last night... but was so sleepy I was a nodding keyboard donkey. I opened my laptop to a set of tabs I don't remember opening. No nothing like from russia with love, but a load of van sites... I guess my subconscious is pulling me towards been stuck behind caravans It's a really interesting journey @Chris those jags look amazing...
  20. Stop drinking beer, no way Well it has crossed miming, I stick to one or two a night at the most... Choices choices choices, a 2009 3.6 superb falls well below 10k Appreciating classic could work, forgot to say I think, I'm after something fairly boot / bike / walking kit friendly. The TVR, MX5; had one, is mighty appealing. I think its' the 'renting' it, and never seeing anything for the cash. If the box of spanners I do buy for 8k ends up costing me 2k over 2 years, then there is a chance I'll still get 5k for it... so still 'quids' in. SWMBO made a good suggestion, just hire a car/van when you want to go away. Then you have to bring in the insurance, for some crazy reason, premiums on a 10k 'old' car are more than a 38k new one... the reason I was given... you're more likely to look after a new car. pfft...
  21. Hi Con, welcome to the site. We're running a trial on approving first posts after a bit of manual spam. There is a bit of lag some nights if the team isn't about. You'll be ok now. Re the aux, my citigo does similar, I happen to know my cable is suspect. If the cable for you is ok, it may well be the socket, either debris in it, or a dry joint. Something the garage should sort, if it was acquired that way.
  22. Hi Garry72, welcome to the site. Other than your diesel leak all good with your octavia? Friend of mine finally retired her's eventually 230k+ on the clock
  23. Hi and welcome, Quite a transformation. What prompted the change away from Audi or away from 500hp... ?
  24. Welcome, For a moment there I thought you'd bagged your karoq... I was going to say cool, an air bagged karoq, would be lovely and smooth. Then I used both eyes and my glasses. Keep sharing and posting too, there is nothing that is daft or silly, we all find new things out in some way or another.
  25. Very nice. I was looking a red sportline, superb, yesterday and the red didn't work... This does... Umm maybe it's the estate format.
