  1. I have a pair of these on the front of my 1.9 tdi, done about 7k so far. Seem to grip well wet or dry and are really quiet compared to the budget (Primewells) I had on before
  2. Going back to the date code 21/11, this would be week 21 of 2011, so roughly end of May. So not quite two years old yet. Just fitted new fronts on my Octy two weeks ago, date code is 3312 on them. It would seem that they are already 6 months old when fitted.
  3. Thanks for the responses. Has been ok for the past few weeks but just been the usual work/local ish runs. Off to a christening in London tomorrow for the day so will see how it goes on another long journey
  4. Thanks for the reply Russ. Maybe it's just the current weather with being cold at night and getting warmer inside the car during the day with the sun. I've not known do this before though and I've had it nearly 3.5 years now.
  5. Hi all, my car seems to have developed a fault in the last few days. I have the heating set at 20 degrees and the climate control on auto. Engine temperature seems steady at 90 degrees when warm. I now find that on longer journeys the climate control varies from blowing hot to cold air and the fan speed seems to go up and down without changing any settings. Please can anyone advise is this likely to be related to climate control/air con system or is it an early warning on head gasket going ?? All fluid levels seem fine and there's no oil in the water or vice versa.
  6. I bought my ex fleet 105pd just over 3 yrs ago with 77k on it. Now up to 125k and still sweet as a nut. Averages 53/54 mpg, with well over 60 on a steady motorway run. In 48k apart from the usual servicable items, I 've had 2 x tyres, a battery and a brake caliper (seized). Still on original clutch and brake pads. You will not be disappointed
  7. Thanks once again to Paul and all the Mitchells staff for organising the event. I had a go in the Yeti 110 tdi which was very pleasant, seemed to have much more mid range punch than my 1.9tdi but there again it is a new car with 120k less miles The chinese & beer was nice too. Look forward to another meet next year for the launch of Octy 3, light nights and some dry weather would be a bonus. As others mentioned some interesting roads on the way home with water and mud pouring off the fields in places. No goody bag for me either, all gone when I left
  8. I take it that you don't have to have anything too flash to turn up................as I only run a 1.9 tdi Octy estate  I'm only in Northwich and nipped into Mitchells last weekend for some touch up paint, about 10 miles for me
  9. The classic is the base model which has steel wheels and you will find a lot of them have been used as taxis. I have a 56 plate elegance estate bought it at 3 yrs old with 77k on the clock, one owner ex lease car. Now up to 116k and sweet as a nut, changed from variable to fixed services and other than servicing and a couple of tyres I've not needed to replace anything else. Average mpg is 53/54 with anything from 46 to 65 possible. No dpf thank god, had a nasty experience on a Zafira with one. What out for rattly dual mass flywheel when starting off. Radio reception can be dodgy too. Hope this helps.
  10. Into 70's Jap bikes. Won't be doing the TT, but a few sunny days out and classic shows over the summer. Welcome to the forum :sun:
  11. + 1 for Michelin Primacys. 45k on front tyres, excellent grip in the dry and wet.
  12. Got 45k out of Michelin Primacy sports on the front. Just changed them for some Primewell budgets, grip seems really good in wet or dry but they are noisy buggers :S :S
  13. I tend to put in £30 at a time and run till light comes on and work out mpg that way. Divide cost per litre convert to gallons (cos I'm an old bugger). Computer does tend to be a bit over optimistic but not too far. In the two years I've had mine I've ranged between 47 and 65 mpg. Winter conditions and short journeys obviously don't help. It's done 105k now and seems just as economical as when I got it
  14. Octy 2 estate 1.9tdi Michelin Primacys on 41k now but due for changing very soon.........and I do drive like a vicar
  15. Hi all, just joined the forum. Have owned my Octy mk2 1.9 tdi pd elegance estate since last December. Ex Lloyds TSB Autolease car now approaching 90k. Only niggles are rattly suspension and the worst radio reception ever. Plus points are fantastic mpg 55ish, cheap to tax and insure. Interior space is great, I can get wife, kids, dogs the lot in there. Hope to attend a meet in the near future if you don't mind bog standard models turning up. regards
