  1. Could the failed parts already replaced have caused strain on the clutch prematurely wearing it, if so then surely that's a warranty issue?
  2. Recently on a long journey my car told me to take a break as I was approaching services I guess it picked up my location from the sat nav
  3. Most of my commute is motorway and dual carriageway all usually under cruise and this has never happened to me and I assume (and hope) the DPF has regenerated a few times whilst I'm driving. As the cruise should stay active even when gears changed I would lean towards a faulty switch maybe on the stalk?
  4. Will keep an eye out for you I'm only down the road in Raunds....
  5. As I've had two race blue and now a black vrs Octavia does that make me a menacing geek? Lol
  6. I use poor boys black hole on mine with a coat of nattys paste wax after
  7. Must admit was really sceptical about them but the sports seats are nearly on a par with those in my vrs, the panoramic roof makes the car feel really bright inside and the sat nav, maxi dot, climate and mfsw make it a pleasant drive.
  8. Have had the rapid a few weeks now and swmbo is really pleased with it and its even had a positive reception from the mother in law. Just waiting to get the ray alloys now and some sill protectors too.
  9. Here's my replacement for my first mk3 VRS which was written off by a young chav in a focus.
  10. I contacted them after my accident and was pretty much told 'as its a total loss your better off dealing with your insurance company direct, we only really help people who have had a repairable accident' So my belief was ring them they will do it for me as the blurb eludes too, my experience of them was not so positive.
  11. Collected my VRS here from Tim in August after ordering in December last year. He and Wayne were brilliant and chased Skoda UK for us on numerous occasions due to the delay, excellent customer service throughout. Returned this month to replace my wifes fabia with a rapid spaceback, and again fantastic service from Tim! Will definately return again in the future.
  12. thanks for the heads up re: Hortons will show the boss
  13. we've gone for the 1.6 TDi 90 having been in a 1.2 TSi 86 in the Fabia. Gone for the diesel due to the distance we both drive to work and the saving (although not much) on the tax.
  14. maybe try something like poorboys black hole which can help cover light marks
  15. Went and had a look at a Spaceback SE Sport today and was pleasantly surprised with it so have agreed a deal to swap SWMBO's Fabia Monte Carlo for a new one, Having heard mixed reports and not seen many flattering pictures I was sceptical but can honestly say that apart from a slight reservation that the rear suspension looks a tad high that I was won over by the car, felt it was well spec'd, the sport seats were very comfy, IMO it drove and rode nicely too was certainly not as harsh as the Monte Fabia we have and we both loved the light from the big panoramic roof. Now I'm on the hunt for some nice black and chrome 'ray' alloys that some of the first dealer models came with which when matched to the corrida red and the black 'sport' pack roof IMO will finish the car off.
  16. If only if only, I am with Admiral and they don't offer this they just get a figure for what the car is worth at the time of the crash and pay out, which has left me without gap around 5k short back to the finance amount owed as I'd only made two payment but of course lost 20% due to the vat as I drove it away.
  17. I wouldn't bother with life shine its a way overpriced product and you can buy the products and apply yourself for around 10-20% of the price a dealer charges for it. I would always have gap and after a recent experience with my 9 week old car being written off the £199 I paid was well worth it as I would be around 5k short otherwise. You can get gap from many providers on the net I have found it from as little as £97 for 3 years RTI gap.
  18. you are absolutely spot on the intrusion on the rear door is severe were a very thankful we had no rear seat passenger or that the impact wasn't on the front door.
  19. speeding car hit us side impact just past the b pillar on the drivers side rear spun the car 180 degrees the fire service did a full roof removal to get my wife out due to back and neck pain
  20. both side airbags deployed, I didn't add any extra airbags to my spec so its whatever is standard for the vrs
  21. Yes we did thankfully otherwise would be around £5,000 short.......
  22. So a bit sooner than we had thought and hoped, we have been left shopping for another VRS :-( Last week we were involved in a nasty RTC in my 9 week old Race Blue Mk 3 VRS. We only collected it on the 9th August after having ordered it at the start of December last year. Absolutely gutted, the car was a write off from the impact it endured but the fire brigade then needed to cut it up to get my wife out. Have added a piccy to this post, as you can see, it was quite a mess and quite an impact! So, we are now shopping for a new one and have been struggling because of the things I wanted. I had a race blue 2.0 tdi estate with variable boot floor, sunset glass, cruise, winter pack and spare wheel. Because the 0% deal isnt there now, we've been really struggling but today, we have found a new one! And I would say we've actually done better (apart from the 0% finance part!) So I've settled for a ex demo at the dealership in Black, 64 plate, its a DSG, and has all we had + Nav and silver roof rails! Just got to wait till December for it to be released to us!
  23. some interesting points to consider especially regarding excess mileage, thanks for the info its always nice to get pros and cons from those who've 'worn the t shirt'
  24. Thanks for the replies, all useful info With regards to ExpatHotspur, I see your point but I'm looking at contract hire monthlies some up to £80 per month cheaper than im getting on pcp as we change cars 2 - 3 years it looks an attractive way to get a new motor, yes I don't get free servicing deals but that is sort of offset by the fact im not having tax the vehicle either so one balances the other there (well nearly)
