  1. i am really liking this colour dont see many of them in this colour either which adds to my liking of it, white ones are becoming as common as a cold.
  2. I've thought about having one of these also, but my main sticking point is the warranty thing, some (including dtuk) will tell you its 'warranty safe' as easily removed and no permanent coding there is other information on a previous thread via a vw forum (tenuous i know but skoda engines are VAG engines) that any modification to the engine results in a code being stored in the ecu and that when undertaking any warranty work dealers are required to send this information to the manufacturer, of course a claim for a dodgy stereo or faulty rain sensor shouldn't be affected by a tuning box but it could be that your 'marked' from then on. Its an emotive subject as there are all sorts of moral implications too not only from the supplier who actively sells them as 'warranty safe' to the individual and the possibility of committing warranty fraud in the very unlikely event something happens. i wouldn't like to be the first one to find out they aren't warranty safe and that through the ecu they can tell you've had mods done which caused a turbo failure for example which wrecked your engine and your left with a bill for several thousands to replace. yes with modern oils and components you could argue a part that vital shouldn't fail but hands will undoubtedly be washed on your claim at any hint of modification, I wonder then if the supplier of said 'warranty safe' tuning box will then come through for you?
  3. its a nightmare to keep clean but when its all polished and gleaming it looks amazing thanks for all the nice comments, im only a weekend warrior just getting to grips with it all
  4. My VRS TDI DSG had a much needed clean today. Car chem citrus then snow foam followed by two bucket method Valet Pro Bilberry used on the wheels Poorboys Black hole followed by Nattys Paste Wax and AG Glass polish
  5. there 215/40/17 87v xl told by kwik fit and ats there unusual sizes that they don't stock (probably sales waffle) leaving mrs b to do some research with other places tomorrow
  6. Karcher K2 compact with dirt blaster lance and patio cleaner attachment, approx 1 year old in full working order. £50 collected
  7. I have a load/tonneau cover from a mk3 octavia vrs estate for sale, unused as came out the car when brought back from the dealer to enable my dog cage to fit. The load cover could also be suitable for any dark coloured mk3 octavia estate interior. £60 collected, can arrange delivery at extra cost.
  8. Went to treat the wife's car to a wash this morning to find she has left me an easter present of not one but two eggs! After ringing round the few tyres places that are open today I'm told the tyre size is unusual (thanks Skoda) and a like for like replacement will be around £100! As a result i'm now cheesed off and her car can wait for another weekend!
  9. love the lakes been going there many years to see family, although take care in Windermere there is a young lad there who takes such a dislike to race blue vrs estates he drives straight into them!
  10. That's a very good dealer if they will change perfectly good tyres just because you don't like the brand, there's no promise in the literature of a certain brand being supplied, out of goodwill as a valued customer maybe.......
  11. Should have clarified I believe that was for a uk car in France presumably on holiday something to do with a timing chain I think
  12. Your first two years warranty are from the manufacturer with the third year being supplied by Skoda uk. (Well that's how it normally works) so any Skoda dealer certainly in Europe should be able to handle warranty for first two years. Although whether in reality this is the case I don't know. Have heard from yeti forum of French Skoda dealers charging for warranty work and owner having to chase Skoda for refund
  13. i was offered a 2.0 tdi 177 s tronic black edition a4 avant with a 6k discount when looking at alternates after my first mk3 vrs was written off, liked the car but did not fall in love with it, yes it was an audi but at the time you couldn't get heated seats (dealer told me i could get it fitted aftermarket for about 300 quid) and the tech felt average for a supposed premium brand and when i got into my current vrs it felt no worse a place to be and i could have a full winter pack etc. plus on my daily commute most of the aggressive, poor and dangerous drivers on the a roads and motorways are either mid level bm 3 or 5 series or mid level a4 or a6 and I was pleased with my decision not to be tarred with the same brush as these specimens
  14. Get your three services, I think 12months is a good length for servicing and won't do the car any harm to be serviced more frequently.
  15. look at trans k9 dog cages I think they make one for the yeti.....you will probably need the variable boot floor though
  16. thanks for this just need to go to the bureau de change for currency conversion..... :p
  17. So I had to go under the bonnet of the wife's spaceback 1.6 Tdi to fill up her washers and was shocked to see no engine cover, she contacted our salesman at the supplying dealer who confirmed no cover is supplied, apart from being a tad mean on the part of skoda trying to save a few bucks, is it better to have one? If it is I take it you can buy one as this engine is in many models with engine cover supplied? I know it isn't going to affect the cars performance or value but it just seems 'incomplete' or backwards as most cars i've owned have had them apart from the first two (both ford escorts)
  18. I am also having to use a work car at the moment which is a 4 year old fabia estate 1.2 TDi i think it sound like a sewing machine and its only redeeming feature is cruise control Its a big step down from my TDi VRS DSG or even swmbo's rapid...... condolences on the corsa btw.....
  19. hello, have been reading your posts and see you have sourced an engine cover as Skoda decided not to fit one as cost saving measure. they have also not fitted them here in the uk. would you happen to have the part number for the cover to hand? if so could you let me know what it was? thanks
  20. My black vrs TDi dsg with sunset glass and silver roof rails Does show road salt and dirt but looks brill when all clean and polished I also use poorboys black hole
  21. i do a similar journey on a mix of dual carriageway, motorway and single carriageway and average mid 40's from a TDi VRS DSG, more on long motorway journeys
  22. Curtain airbags deployed when I was hit at speed in the side the car was fitted with standard airbags no added ones. Appears as if curtain airbags are also in rear not just front
  23. I had them fitted front and rear to both my mk3 vrs estates to try and reduce the amount of crud that gets blown up on the back window was finding without them even a short drive in wet roads and the back would be covered and also to help with mud splatter etc as inlaws have a farm which you have to use a track to get to and they help. Still got salt/dirt along the sides but you always will as other cars will spray it as they go past you
