  1. at my last service (20k) I was advised of corrosion on my rear discs and that i should every so often perform a hard braking manoeuvre from around 40 mph to stop and that this is mentioned in the owners handbook (i haven't checked), I am nearing my 30k service soon so will see what they say, I did as instructed a few times, but after this forgot as its not something you think about doing as you drive around.
  2. Your roof rails wont be gloss black though if it doesn't have the black pack they will be just standard black plastic style
  3. hope so i was really looking at ordering one next year and will be really disappointed if not available it could help me convince SWMBO into a superb sportline as a plan b, although don't need a car that size. The scout doesn't interest me and neither does anything from Bavaria.
  4. VRS 4x4 removed from the configurator as so popular production for the current year is full - got this from Skoda UK after tweeting them about it
  5. I have tweeted Skoda UK about the VRS 4x4 no longer on the configurator they have replied that 'this is due to the VRS 4x4 being so popular that production is currently full for the year.'
  6. a quick look at the brochure online (july 2016 version) p23 shows that stainless steel pedals are standard on the vrs and option on the scout.
  7. When I worked in a service department courtesy cars were free but customers had to arrange their own insurance and couldn't take the car unless we had the insurance certificate, it was a proper ball ache, customers would kick off, management would kick off, I used to loathe having to explain the reasons why and what we needed daily to people. However refreshingly my local skoda dealer don't charge anything for use of their vehicles.
  8. At my 20k service was advised the rear discs were corroded, when queried this service person informed me that it is in the handbook that every so often to prevent corrosion whilst on a quiet road at 30-40 mph several hard braking manoeuvres should be undertaken to remove and help prevent this, could only find the reference below in the manual to corrosion and as my car is used daily for a round trip of approx. 80 miles I'm sceptical that this was just stealer waffle. Corrosion Corrosion on the brake discs and dirt on the bake pads occur if the vehicle has been parked for a long period and if you do not make much use of the braking system. The brakes are cleaned and dried by applying the brakes several times.
  9. I have had two mk2 Octavia's and 2 mk3 Octavia's and have only ever had need of warranty work on 1 which was for a faulty gps aerial. (in the first one) I worked at a Renault dealer for a while some years back and although I believe they have much improved I still wouldn't have one now as I saw the amount of stuff including major components that we changed regularly under warranty. I've seen some on the forum have had a car with many issues proper so called Friday afternoon cars, however as another person has stated as with all manufacturers sometime there will be issues, go to merc, audi, bmw, ford, Nissan, etc forums and there will be a few poor souls who have that car that spends more time in the air then an Airbus to Sydney. In the grand scheme a model that must now have 10's of thousands units globally there will sadly be a few runts, its sadly the quality or lack of at your dealers aftersales that will make the difference I am lucky I have what I think is a good one, others I have heard have not, check the dealer review bit of the site to see what people have said on yours.
  10. I find this to be a regular occurrence on my daily commute, I can be minding my own business with cruise set at 70, and it seems that 8 out of 10 times if I should pass any mid level variant of 1/3/5 series bmw, a class merc or a3/a4 audi plus the odd vw golf or passat, ranging from 10+ year old models to new reg, this produces a response from them where they need to come roaring past me at 80+, it baffles me why drive at 60-65 and then because I've had the tenacity to pass you suddenly go into warp drive.
  11. looks really smart, the chrome window surrounds imo add a bit of extra class to it.
  12. i have had this on occasion too where it turns over for some seconds before firing, usual enough time for me and the wife to look at each other with that look of 'is it going to start?' having recently had a service I shall mention it next time I go in and see what the service dept. have to say.
  13. thanks for the pictures, must say imo that looks really smart, much nicer than acres of boring black rubber
  14. Guess I'm not gonna get a more in the know answer than than yours. Oh well worth asking I guess.
  15. yep it certainly was a heart breaking time, and we can only be grateful that the car did its job for us both. Plus we had gap cover so weren't left with a massive lump to still keep paying on a car that was destined to be stripped for bits somewhere.
  16. there must be more out there than this surely? has anyone got a vrs or scout with them fitted?
  17. The car was written off as total loss after nine weeks of ownership after having the roof removed following an accident and was taken away with the key I was using at the time by the recovery service. However I still have the spare (its never been asked for by the insurance), is this worth anything? Can they be recoded? Of course the key blade is no good. Should I try ebay or the sales pages on this fine forum? Or is it only worth binning?
  18. i had my first mk3 vrs on the 0% deal free servicing etc and my friend who worked at the dealer said he would expect that skoda uk would need to bring back at least 0% if not an equivalent deal 3 years later once all those on the 0% deal came close to an end to enable them to roll over into a new car, otherwise all those handing in a good spec vrs would either have a hefty increase in payments or would need to opt for an alternative model to keep the same payment per month. i am waiting with anticipation to see if his prophecy comes true......
  19. Think skoda are overpricing the options, don't think Ferrari charge as much for some of the options!
  20. A rare sight I'm sure given the fashion for blacking everything these days however after seeing a picture of a VRS with the chrome window surrounds on the metal grey thread and really liking the look of it, I wondered if anyone else has ticked this option and would be willing to put a picture on this thread. I have built a few colours on the skoda builder but it doesn't beat an actual pic to give an impression of what its like I'm sure this won't be to everyone's taste but imo it looks nice in certain colours, the same as black packs suit other colours and personal tastes.
  21. I like the alloys on the l&k and it has a good spec the only issues putting me off are the engine range, I think you should be able to get the 184 TDi not just the 150 as you can in the scout, and the worst part is brown leather...imo its ewwww to look at and combined with brown interior trim doesn't attract me to the model, a black option should be available. If there was no VRS model I would spec a SE-L (elegance?) to get a decent colour interior over the L&K
  22. wife says the auto lights are great however the auto wipers not as good as the octavia too be fair it was more the auto lights we wanted as when i got to use the previous spaceback found it frustrating to have to actually turn the lights on! (first world problems eh!)
  23. should have checked those options more closely having an octavia vrs with xenons that have washers as standard just took it that ordering xenons on the spaceback would include the washers. well it means ive learnt more about lumens and the legalities etc for the future.
  24. if you have lane assist which i would guess the l & k does ensure they code the trailer control module correctly as the company that fitted mine didn't and couldn't work it on there general coding device, had to get a kind person with vcds to sort it for me.
  25. Found this on another thread I hadn't noticed they were not fitted till you mentioned it this could explain why. 'Skoda have just added the option of factory fit xenon headlights to the Rapid. They claim that they are much less expensive than on other models because their light output (being less than 2,000 lumens) is reduced compared with normal xenon's, so there is no legal requirement to fit the self levelling and headlight wash system. http://new.skoda-aut...013-07-04-rapid "As an option, the ŠKODA Rapid received xenon headlights. The xenon lamp has a luminous flux up to 2,000 lumen. This system requires no headlamp leveling and headlamp cleaning system yet. Advantage: a lower price compared to xenon headlamps with higher lumen output at roughly comparable intensity."'
