  1. Å koda UK will continue its support of British rallying when it becomes the Official Vehicle Partner to Rallye Sunseeker (February 25-26), the opening round of the 2011 Dulux Trade MSA British Rally Championship.
  2. Production has moved out of Kvasiny to Vrchlabi...

  4. @coopers Really good pics, shows the whole experience. The Gobi sand interior looks terrific with the black coachwork. Excellent choice
  5. Millers may have been a good idea in the past but with modern high-tech diesels it is totally unnecessary and save your money
  6. "Rumour has it that VW might axe the twincharger engine line-up. The company’s 1.4-litre engine, which mixes turbocharging and supercharging, is said to be too complex and expensive to produce. Instead, VW engineers now believe that new turbocharging technology can achieve similar results at a much-reduced cost." From the German Car blog.

    Diesel

VW optimize their engines for proven durability. The ECU will always seek the optimal setting for this parameter, anyone who alters the ECU is running a huge risk and really is quite daft. As for the fuel it is the additives that are important Shell being the best. It is also worth noting that VW do not recommend the use of bio-fuels as they can have a detrimental effect on the engine....they have done exhaustive testing with thousands of hours on test beds.

    Diesel

@apOgee " Forget stuff about increased cetane numbers etc. though - ECUs these days alter the timing to make engines run pretty much the same, whatever fuel is used" True, a valid point....
  9. The reason that the Golf V1 was hurried to production is that the Golf V was too expensive to manufacture. One of these expenses was the complex front and rear suspension setup. I imagine that the Yeti now uses the more simple version from the Golf V1.
  10. I think the silver roof rails really set the Yeti off... :p
  11. These flaps are common to most VW Group cars, there is one on each side at the rear and I'm not sure what they are made of but they do make quite a bang over speed bumps. I don't think they are accessible either. The noise on the front on full lock is most likely to be the rack and again nothing to worry about..
  12. That colour really suits the Yeti well...
  13. @kenfowler3966 The metallic clatter/rattle from the rear over speedbumps etc. is nothing more than the expelling airflaps moving. Normal..

    A long wait

There is now a long waiting list for all VW Group Products. The reason for this seems to be the fact that Stirling has fallen by nearly half against the Euro so they get far more for their products in the Eurozone than in the UK.
  15. Great post. Loved the way everyone looked so serious including the sheep. Very amusing and the best test of a Yeti I've seen.
  16. There was recently a lead article in the Autocar Magazine relating to the concept of the premium automotive brand. I quote the last paragraph: " But as Premium car volumes continue to soar and premium customers become ever more demanding, upmarket manufacturers will have to be much more careful about allowing sophisticated technology to 'leak' downwards to more humble brands and lower price points. No surprise, then, that VW has already started to 'de-content' Skoda models (xenon lights are now off the Fabia menu) as the Czechs start to steal serious numbers of VW and Audi customers. Premium brands are going to move fast and ruthlessly to protect their profitable territory." Can we add DAB Radios and Panoramic Sunroofs to that list?
