  1. I can't help with pictures, but magnetic brown looks really smart in the flesh. The brochures and my imagination don't do it justice at all. (we ended up with petrol blue which is also very smart)
  2. nor the water freezing in the pipes themselves. water freezing on the screen we can solve by turning on our heated screen which is a truly wonderful thing - no more scraping in the morning (except the side windows that is). J
  3. Ours were an optional extra on our 2014 MkII L&K.
  4. are you saying that the columbus GPS shows the current position of the car in germany, or simply that your saved home address is in germany? if it's the latter, then the home address can be set in: navigation -> function -> manage memory -> define home address -> edit
  5. Sure. Let me know if you'd like any other angles! You can't see anything from behind unless you're on your hands and knees under the bumper itself. Interestingly the electric socket cover has Westfalia stamped on it so I assume the towball itself is the same in spite of no obvious maker's marks that I could find. It attaches by simplying inserting and pushing upwards until the big lever clicks up where it can then be locked in place. Removal is done by simply pushing down on the big lever.
  6. As previously mentioned, the Skoda OEM detachable bit has a storage space inside the spare wheel insert - which is quite convenient. Not sure who the manufacturer is though I'm afraid.
  7. Yes, when reverse is engaged which shows that the reverse sensors are disabled.... along with all the other things that Blackray listed above. We went for the easy-for-us dealer fit option as we were buying from new.
  8. £760 inc VAT for the Skoda dealer to do the electric prep, supply and fit a "Skoda" towbar.
  9. we declined the factory prep as it only provides enough for 7 pin electrics, the dealer fit will give you 13 pin for charging etc. we'd never previously towed, but we didn't really notice having a caravan on the back of our 170 DSG. One thing I noticed was the gearbox seemed happy to stick in a higher gear than was necessary which a manual upshift fixed. This helped on fuel consumption.
  10. FWIW our FL CR170 L&K does this. It's only noticeable on really cold days when the glow plugs need longer to do their business. I've assumed that it's linked to our car having stop-start so there's more control over when the engine is running (or not).
  11. Like others have said, our L&K with the ventilated seats does take a little while to get hot, but when it's going it's really toasty on "3". I've not tried the heated seats in the back so can't comment on their warm up time. Do check that the seat fan button hasn't been knocked so it's actually on - you'll hear the fan noise if the ignition is on and the engine is off.
  12. indeed. I wonder how "good" the DPF is at catching burnt oil particles too? and actually being a diesel, will engine oil get more completely burnt anyways? A faulty oil level sensor is supposed to flag a warning (flashing oil can) in the maxidot too.
  13. I'm following this thread with interest but somewhat confused. The handbook suggests that there is an orange oil level warning (oil can with waves underneath) and a flashing red oil pressure warning (oil can). I'm surprised that the orange warning didn't come on sooner especially as the quoted oil capacity is only 4.3 litres?
  14. I've not got KESSY, but did notice in the manual something about the sensors in the door handles deactivating after 60 and 90 hrs (2.5 and 3.75 days). On the longer of the two, you must use the unlock button on the keyfob to reactivate the system??? Check "parking the vehicle" on page 51. Could that be it?
  15. You should be able to set this in the maxidot (see page 45 and 52 in the user guide). Select comfort - central locking. At a guess, you probably want to disable "single door" and "one side" to always unlock everything.
  16. and in fact even beyond 5 years as I experienced when yet another reverse parking sensor failed on our Mk 1 Superb after 6-7 years of ownership.
  17. heh - we randomly popped into the Bentley dealer for a play and my 10yr old complained that most of the models only had "a little" space in the back. He settled on the Flying Spur which had sufficient (but not ample) leg room in the back.....
  18. I thought the DPF should regen if it needs it even in slow stop-start traffic - however it will burn more fuel whilst doing this. I guess the problem is if you always finish your journey before the regen has finished then you're supposed to take it out for a longer "manual regen".
  19. no - the car was brand new in July. I guess if it happens again, I'll drop it in to the dealers who can have a poke around.....
  20. I'm quite certain that the L&K uses the LED DRLs as parking lights (they're awfully bright!) but I'll go double check tonight.
  21. So I got a check bulb orange warning and "check front right side light" on the MFD this morning on our L&K CR170. I'd just driven 15 miles with no warning and turned off for a couple of mins. On re-starting I got the warning. By the time I stopped to check the front lights, both DRLs looked to be working fine and another turn off and on cleared the warning. AFAIK the side lights on our L&K are the DRLs which use LEDs? what else should I be looking out for?
  22. You might want to read this thread though: http://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/319180-crushed-jacking-points/?hl=%2Bjack#entry3860952
  23. Hmmm, not noticed a freewheel option on out 2014 Superb, but I'll take another look.
  24. Silly question: should I decide to coast in neutral on a DSG, what happens if I'm dumb enough to accidently select reverse instead of drive? Are the electronics smart enough to ignore me?
  25. I'm guessing the extra sensors are in the wheel arches? That's where we have additional on our FL L&K.
