  1. As the above have said, it means Skoda don't get sued for infringing Ford's RS copyright. I know at the time they were introducing vRS versions, they did try and use the RS badge, but swiftly got told where to shove it by Ford.
  2. The 1.0 was available from the launch of the Fabia in the UK in Feb 2000, but withdrawn 9 months later in Nov 2000.
  3. Prices & Specs have now been published by Skoda UK.
  4. Nahh I didn't think so. But for those few who are interested, I guess I'll just say
  5. Stop using your cruise control, if you want better fuel economy. Cruise contol cannot anticipate traffic or road conditions, so it's always less efficient. I can usually do 10-15% better with my right foot compared to cruise control.
  6. It has since been established that regardless of what Lummox says (this is not meant to reflect on him), Skoda UK do not share the same opinion. The annual service is seperate from an oil change and cannot be ignored. If you have an early oil change you still need to have the annual check done.
  7. If you read that little seperate booklet more closely, you will notice that it mentions that the Fabia is excluded from variable servicing. I forget where exactly, but its in there.
  8. Laguna GT205, Mondeo ST220, Vectra 3.2V6 and VXR, Thing is about the Octavia is it doesn't fit into either the C or D segment. its got a Golf chassis so has poor rear legroom, but it has the fat bum of a Passat so you can transport the everything including the sink, and thus its a bit of compromise. So you can really pull in competitors out of the C and D segment. That being the case, you can add all the hot hatches in as competitors including the new Leon 2.0T FSI Sport 185 when its launched, aswell as the cars above from the D segment. PS The Leon is going to be cheap too, Seat confirmed the price to the dealers at
  9. The car needs an annual check regardless of mileage or if its previously had a lube service, so says Skoda UK and three dealers I spoke to. I have just dropped my car off for an annual check at 10k miles having done this in 7 months. I could have had a oil change and then had the annual check without an oil change later if I wanted, but my mileage will only be 12k pa from now on, so I have chosen to have the annual check done early. For any of the annual checks you don't need to have the oil change done (provided the oil change was done every 10k), but you do still need to have the check completed.
  10. Cod = filthy **** eating sludge slurper Haddock = best fish and chips provided its not cooked in veggie oil either.
  11. I'm a fairly longstanding member on Scoobynet, and I like some of the very things you complain about. People without a subscription (like me) can still post cars for sale in the General for sale forum, just not the seperate cars for sale bit. So if you have something to sell you are still able to. The no-ebay links is a good idea IMHO. If you want to sell something and advertise it for free, stick a price on it and make it available for everyone to see. You shouldn't be able to use the forum as free advertising for a sale/auction elsewhere, otherwise the for sale forum on scoobynet would get swamped with links to eBay. Remember Scoobynet has over 51,000 members now, and I'll bet a fair few of them buy and sell on eBay.
  12. Got the filters this morning, bit of bargain really. Did anyone else buy one, as the seller had a few for sale.
  13. The Leon 2.0 TFSi Sport 185 is going to be 15,995otr, when it goes on sale. As for other versions of the same engine, its used at 197bhp in the Golf Gti, Audi A4, plus the DTM A4 special edition has a 220hp version of the engine. The Leon Sport is going to be followed up by FR and Cupra versions on sale next summer.
  14. Best I have driven is the Honda i-CDTI used in the Accord, CR-V and FRV. BMW's engines are certainly powerful but they are not the smoothest. The PSA/Ford 2.7 V6 diesel is supposed to be a real smoothy also.
  15. No it will be 7 months old, but based on what will be my annual mileage (12k pa) and type of use, I want to have the annual service early. I will also be changing to 5k mile oil changes, as at least half of that driving is a 7 mile 20-30mins stop/start commute in London, which hammers the oil. The car was registered 15th Jan, so if I do the annual service now, I also avoid having the cost of it falling in the New Year, which is when I be most skint...... It all sounds a bit backwards but it make sense to me.
  16. I'm taking my vRS into Willis for an early 10K annual service, and its
  17. I've been prompted to make my first post here. I've just bought a 2005 Fabia VRS, and having read good things about this forum on Scoobynet, thought I'd sign up. My car is at the moment completely standard, and will stay that way for now, but I am going to be looking into getting Cruise Control retro-fitted, as it wasn't specified new.
