  1. Quick question. My reason for asking is I can't get hold of a combi local to me to test out. Has anyone done any back to back driving or a VRS hatch and combi, or perhaps owned both? I'm considering swapping to a combi at the moment. My concerns are extra noise and ride quality. I know they're not exactly whisper quiet anyway but is the combi noticeably worse compared to the hatch?
  2. They're actually paying something now?!? Wish google maps was supported on CarPlay! Not too likely I'd imagine.
  3. With mine when I pressed the voice button it kept saying something along the lines of "sorry, I didn't catch that". Came close to catching a fist through the monitor[emoji35] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  4. I had issues with it recently too. Thought it might have been the ROM on my phone but sadly not. Might be worth checking for an update maybe. Switched to an iPhone 6s Plus last weekend and CarPlay is a hell of a lot better for connecting. Doesn't matter when you plug it in - it always just works. Finding Apple Maps very iffy compared to google maps though, to the point where I'm tempted to just wire up the Note 4 and leave it in the glovebox.
  5. Money would be better spent sending to a detailer for a ceramic coating. Probably be cheaper too.
  6. Plenty of videos on you tube showing it, works the same in any car. There's a few octavia ones popping up too.
  7. Have you android auto installed on the 5x? You need smartlink for android auto to work too - I'm guessing that may be your issue?
  8. As much as its annoying its a characteristic of the gearbox.
  9. Individual Profile: Steering - Sport Engine - Sport Headlights - Sport Air Con - Normal Sound - Normal I find the normal steering a little too light for my liking, even at times I think Sport is too light.
  10. My FR and VRS 184s were both driven normally from day dot. Didn't get thrashed when they were cold but extended when needed otherwise. I didn't take it to any extremes of the rev range for the first thousand or so but above 3500 was done regularly. I think one thing with the running in is that it's not clocking it up at one part of the rev range - like doing a motorway cruise in top gear. Vary the revs and it will be fine.
  11. Any more pics of what you did to the lights? I kind of like them. Is it just vinyl on the outside?
  12. Yeah, LED units that replace the existing ones. Didn't see anything about them doing damage, so far so good although I'm going to put a layer of very light tint on them to dull the light slightly as they're a bit on the bright side.
  13. They're the super Skoda replacement units, they've got the resistors on three inside to trick the car.Sent from my SM-N910F using Tapatalk
  14. It's an on/off switch just like anything else with a heating element?
  15. I'm a fan too, makes life easier at 6 in the morning when the cars parked way down the back of your garden. Sent from my SM-N910F using Tapatalk
  16. My opinion... 1. Nowhere near as bad...if I'm honest there's a buzz from my drivers side one on rough surfaces. Did the dealer apply the fix? 2. Nothing yet, can't see why it wouldnt happen as its the same part. 3. A VAG favourite. Didn't have it and don't in the current one. 4. As the brakes wear I find hill hold does this. 5. I've found MIB2 more buggy than the MIB1 in the Leon, once ever I had it freeze. Firmware upgrade maybe? 6. Never had it, should be fixable. 7. Seems to be common on MQB cars, gummi pfledge is your friend here. 8. As above. 9. Is this in the cold weather or all the time? If all the time get them replaced. I did 60k km on the FR184 in the year I had it, only have 13k on the VRS. I don't think there is a noticable gap in build. I'd wager some of the above will happen with the Skoda too.
  17. I traded in a year old FR and you're not going to notice much of a difference in terms of build. Different materials yes (no better or worse tbh on the whole) but I would say they are equally well screwed together. I'm guessing you've got the door card and door seal issues with the Leon? Smartlink is worth it if you're not getting nav, bargain for the functionality.
  18. I agree. No problems or error codes. Probably cost neutral to compared to getting LEDs and getting someone to code them if you don't have vdcs.
  19. Mines always been like that 1st to 2nd when the gearbox is cold, just like the FR184 before it and my MK2 CR170.
  20. The phone should work in the meantime when wired - at least it does with an android phone. Can't recall if it did with Car Play. Call the dealer - its definitely standard so it might just be a coding error.
  21. There should be, its standard on all Octavias. I'm getting the pop up that Bluetooth has disconnected when I connect to smartlink but I can still use the cars own phone interface which is strange. I wonder if there's a problem - it should be very straightforward to connect and you should not be getting the unavailable screen on the radio or MFD.
  22. Thr headunit takes a few seconds to boot up. I normally turn the key to on, put on the seatbelt, start the car, turn off stop/start and then plug it in. Works 90% of the time.
  23. Had MIB1 on a Leon FR last year and the MIB2 on the VRS is a noticable improvement. Definitely louder and the speakers don't rattle as much too!
  24. People are different but if that was me I'd let them know that if the detailer failed to remove them I would be rejecting the car. It looks like someone washed it with a very dirty brush. Thats not acceptable on a new car, he'll if it was a used car I'd think twice about buying it with paint damage like that. The last thing I'd want is for them to go painting a brand new car too - it will never be as good as a factory finish.
  25. One of the reasons I sold my MK2 VRS was the seats became unbearable. Early days with the MK3 but I have no complaints yet.
