  1. Will be worth the wait and can't wait to see the pics.
  2. The black alloys with silver edging are the 16' optional ones (Serpens?) but not available on our UK configurator. The tires are quite a bit wider than the alloy wheels on the Citigo, so I don't think it should be a big problem. Have you looked at the different trims available on the SE L now?
  3. I think you will like the Citigo - practical and fun to drive. I guess it depends if you like the red interior of the Monte or not and how important its leather steering wheel is (with flattened-off bottom) and a piano black dash insert. They both look great on the same black alloys but the Monte does have the extra little piano black 'diffuser' at the back and spoiler extension. I like the interior of the Black - nice and understated - and it is the same as previous model year Elegance models - no grey insert like previous SE models. The Black does not have the lowered suspension so the ride will be a little more forgiving but I don't think you will loose much agility, especially with the bigger alloys and wider tires like the Monte. I would be tempted by the Black but I would miss the heated seats on my Elegance (which is also available with black alloys and piano black or metallic grey dash). Cruise control and parking sensors are an option on the Monte but not the Black. Good luck - I don't think you will regret either.
  4. That is definitely a good discount on the Fabia; how old and what mileage is the Citigo? We had a new Fabia 1.0 for 2 weeks on holiday and it was very nice - drove well and comparable performance to the Citigo - very comfortable. SEL spec is great too.
  5. If reading this thread has left you thoroughly DEPRESSED, then you may be interested to know how much less than list price a few cars are listed for sale today at the car supermarket Motorpoint: you can pick up a 63 plate Skoda Citigo S for £3721 less than list new; a 63 plate Dacia Sandero Stepway for £3836 less than new; a 63 plate MINI Cooper for £5388 less than new; a 14 plate Fiat 500L for £10,086, yes £10,086, less than the list price new (I wonder what discount the original, I would guess fleet, purchaser got); a 64 plate Ford Ka for £5091 less than new; or you might fancy a 15 plate delivery mileage DS3 for £6736 less than list price. Motorpoint tend to be pretty 'on trend' when pricing and are far closer to auction prices than anything on a dealer forecourt. It is interesting to note that, according to Motorpoint, I could have spent £35740 on a 3 series BMW estate before Christmas but pick a 64 plate example up today for £14441 less. Of course, having bought a Citigo for less than 10k last year, I could probably afford to give it way in 2-3 years, I appear to be saving so much money. It's no BMW, of course, but I am enjoying it very much and getting 50-60mpg, paying no road tax, insurance is peanuts, the tires have only lost about 1mm tread and they serviced it while I waited. In fact, I was so pleased, I bought my mum one. Well, I spent £150 and got it on PCP. Of course, that means I can just give it back after three years and I am insulated from 'trade-in values' altogether. I'm still happy.
  6. Very nice - like the red with black wheels and the interior. Were you able to order the black grill surround from them?
  7. Know what you mean about cruise control - I wouldn't want be without it. Mum finds the rear seats comfy in the Citigo but, honestly, we hardly ever use them. I can imagine you loading up the Octy. Sat in the back of a new Superb in the showroom when I went in for the service yesterday and it was massive - leather and a nice armrest too. I didn't look in the boot but it could probably take a Citigo. Styling was very sharp too. We have a new house and it definitely wouldn't go in the garage though!
  8. Sounds a tempting price. We had the l.0 on holiday and it was fine. Nice around town, fine on the motorway and did manage the steep hills. You will not be overtaking quickly and will need to change down on steep hills but depends how fast you want to drive! Nice car.
  9. I agree with these comments about long distances. We also have 2 Citigos and we are very impressed. Not just the expected fun, practicality and low running costs but good on long trips too. The seats make a big difference - better than the new Fabia for me - and the lack of intrusion on the legs compared with larger cars. I think it pulls well around town but the gearing means it is fine on the motorway too - better than many cars with 6 speeds but not too noisy either. I had mine serviced yesterday and was comparing the room and seats with a new Fabia - not noticeably roomier in the back. They also noticed there was an update to the power steering software and gave it a wash and vacuumed it inside too, so I am happy!
  10. Yes - air con, central locking, TPM, ESP plus traction control, two electric window switches on driver's side, boot light and the upholstery that used to be Elegance.
  11. I agree with VRS Mike that the Citigo is cheap to run compared to most cars - we are paying about £6k over the three years to drive a new car with minimal deposit and small payments and then hand it back - guaranteed. That's got to be a good thing. I understand that Recarouk may want to hand his back and buy second hand. You are always better off financially buying 1 year old cars than new. However, if you want virtually no deposit and 0% finance and to keep your own money in your bank and drive a new car, I think PCP has its advantages. I also agree with Tom_vRS about not worrying too much about negative equity. Dealers never want to offer too much, especially if your car is high mileage. If you pay a small deposit and monthly payments and then want to trade in early, the fact that the vast majority of depreciation is in the first year will always be a problem. This can typically be £4k in year 1, then just £1k in years 2 and 3. I don't know how the Citigo will turn out in all this over the next 3 years but it seems to be no worse than average and much less than a more expensive car anyway. Plus, if you can hold on to the end, you are at least guaranteed a future value by VW Finance and not a dealer you might then be trying to do a deal with. The excess charge for high mileage is also about a third of many manufacturers, as Neo_VR also mentioned.
  12. There is now a boot light and new seat trims - week 22 on? I think the gearbox is quieter too - hopefully it will not wear off with age!
  13. Congratulations mate - it looks stunning! I am jealous now. Love the interior and the white with black wheels. More pics please! Andy.
  14. Thanks for that wizzi. Sounds good. I am enjoying the cornering too. It will shift if you change down and keeps its speed pretty well on hills. The cruise control keeps speed better than my MINI did (both manual) but on the Citigo some of the steep hills do pose more of a challenge due to the smaller engine - you might try nudging the lever forward when you know it is a steep hill to pre-empt the changedown. I think with the ASG you can just nudge it to over-ride temporarily without changing to full manual which I believe is just knocking it to the left (I am assuming if springs back to the middle - in my DSG it stayed in a left plane for manual). Andy.
  15. glad you are happy with it. which citigo did you get - which dealer? I am in bridgwater.
  16. Thanks wizzi - good to know that it changes gear its-self getting back to speed - if slowly lol. Do you find it kicks down when you want or you prefer to use the manual mode? Andy.
  17. Glad you are liking your new car and would love to see pic of the interior. Interesting that you have the sunset glass - if you do not have the sunroof it must come with the dynamic pack so good choice! I think, as you say, you have the sports wheel which is flatter on the bottom but that makes no difference to the top of the wheel which obscures the instruments on all models, I am afraid - unless you set the wheel strangely high! As mentioned above, the mph is small on the sat nav and you only get mph readout on the instrument LCD if you have the trip computer/cruise control (that is what I use).
  18. Citigouk, have you tried using the resume button from low speed? I am guessing your ASG will change up through the gears to resume the set speed (my Fabia DSG did). I actually found it quite useful from hairpin bends or roundabouts. Andy.
  19. No - you would have the trip functions on the instrument readout ONLY if you had the trip computer but you only get that with the optional convenience pack (trip computer, cruise and reversing sensors) which you didn't have. It is controlled by the button on the right stalk like a Fabia etc etc. You can also get all the info at once on the screen of the PID (if attached!) even if you do not spec the trip computer. Hope that helps.
  20. I had dealer fit sensors on my previous car and the graphics did not show on the stereo (it was a fabia) - they do not generally work unless they are factory fit.
  21. The convenience pack is an option on SE, SE L and Monte Carlo (not S and probably not Black again). It contains trip computer (mpg, range, engine temp etc), cruise control and rear parking sensors. The PID offers sat nav, bluetooth and all trip computer functions (whether you have the trip computer or not) on any Citigo and is standard on all but S and SE models. An advantage of having the trip computer is being able to see the digital mph readout as the top part of the speedo can be obscured by the wheel (and, or course, all the trip computer functions on the instrument readout without getting out the PID). I am loving my Citigo and have gone all soft on the heated seats, too (standard on SE L or part of the Winter Pack option on SE). If you want alloy wheels and heated seats, you are better off going for SE L than SE but if you only want cruise and trip you can save money on an SE. If you like the black details of the Monte you can have cruise as an option but you can also get black alloys and the black dash on an SE L now for £100 and £150 respectively. So many choices. PS I am quite excited that it seems you can now get the black dash for free if you spec beige trim - it has now appeared in new SE L pattern on the configurator - if that makes any sense!! Good luck.
  22. motorpoint has a few with 8-11k miles 63 plate but only the S model in red.
  23. Thanks for that - will try it!
  24. What do you use mate? Shiny is the problem with reflections and I have found that some plastic trim is more shiny than it would be because of the kind of cleaner (polish?) a dealer has used on it - not a good look. Thanks.
  25. Good luck with that Trevor. Can't wait to see the pics. Love that colour and the new SE L trim looks great. Andy. PS Is the colour an exact match for the dashboard?
