  1. I ment instead of cutting the plunger and filling hole all. What's the benefit of doing this rather than a metal blanking plate on both egr and manifold
  2. Why didn't you just blank it with plates instead of all of the above?
  3. Just another update. I took my egr and inlet manifold off the car and I can honestly say it wasn't worth cleaning both had sludge on but literally a covering no build up at all. Car done 145k. I can only assume many the liquimoly has dissolved or help clean inlet somehow? Anyways blanked off egr and manifold using plates. Also noticed a slight leak from bottom of egr valve where flexi pipe goes from exhaust and side of inlet manifold the gasket had had it from looks of it so had no choice but to instant gasket it all the ori gasket both sides. Cars back together so will see how car is performing in the next few days
  4. It will be limited in neutral or in gear. It will pass mot at most places but the mot guy could fail if he wanted to be picky
  5. See I see Toyota as a brilliant manufacturer and very reliable. Why? Because there quick to act when they know of potential issues wrong with there cars. And they make it public. Unlike Vauxhall, ford ect which have had lots of major issues which never triggered a recall they just did the work if you was to call them and book it in with symptoms to that of an issue they know about.
  6. I figured the gearbox area is so dirty anyways you wouldn't notice and different lol
  7. Only egr deleted in software so it doesn't operate. Haven't replaced for a pipe thou. But I am considering
  8. As above really. Just did the elephant mod to Hopfully reduce the oily sludge that builds up in egr, intake ect. I have routed pipe down near gearbox and put a slit in it to stop it freezing. Does it look okay?
  9. Also quirk way to kill your clutch and have potential issues come mot time when they can't get a proper smoke test ect due to your car not revving all the way
  10. What's the asv? I did clean egr but I'm just wondering why it's still dripping oily substance from the holes? And also if the noise I'm getting is normal? So Egr should be open when engine is off?
  11. Just an update. I did a vcds log of boost and boost seems to be fine so I am not sure if it is a leak as such however one thing that I have noticed is a releasing air pressure sound which occurs straight after turning engine off. Also the egr is seeping so much. I can clean it and with in a day or two it's leaking oil again out of the two vent holes. Another thing should the valve always be closed or should it be open I.e when engine I switched off? Last thing I noticed the bottom boost hose is leaking oil slightly. No turbo whine or police siren noise however I do think the cars boost sound is louder than it should be I.e I hear airy noise more than the actual turbo whistle. Egr has been mapped out but I still just have this feeling something is just not right. Even thou the egr is mapped out if egr was faulty to begin with could that potentially cause the above issues.
  12. I would say maybe get the battery checked and alternator. I have seen similar symptoms on another car and it turned out to be the battery had a bad cell
  13. Probably the warm weather. Warm weather = poor combustion as the air isn't very dense
  14. As above anyone got a spare set of wheels I could borrow for a week whilst mine get refurbed? I'm in oxford
  15. Best way is to calculate brim to brim. I bet all those but a small few who manually calculated would show that there not getting 60mpg average
  16. It may say 60mpg on some trip computers but that's not to say there getting that. I did 63mph on a journey from Oxford to slough and I was doing 58mpg according trip. And I think that's excellent. Especially when my last car was a skoda octavia vrs 2.0TFSI stg2+ averaging around 28-33mpg
  17. Maybe. Although I do think the boost pipe to egr was leaking as I had oil all under connection which I have now sealed with instant gasket
  18. Since cleaning out egr valve and getting it switched off in software along with cleaning my maf sensor I think I may have sorted my mpg. I'm now getting around 47-55mpg doing a 10mile drive to work at 70mph. Only other thing I changed is the fuel now using shell instead of sainsburys ect.
  19. Also managed to clean maf sensor and clay the car...
  20. Spent the last 3 1/2 hours cleaning engine bay sealing pipes that were mucky and cleaning egr. I have to say the egr was pretty clean considering mileage I'm wondering if the diesel purge I did yesterday cleared some of it somehow. Don't get me wrong it was still oily ect bt wasn't caked up and flap could still freely move
  21. It was leaking from the hole at the front top of egr valve as I cleaned the outside yesterday and today it was doing the same. I have sealed the plastic and rubber pipe to egr with instant rubber gasket so if there was any leaks that should solve them in that area. Any idea thou why the egr leaks from that hole? I see it's a common problem and usually to do with ccv
