  1. Does anyone know how to remove the rear seat squabs on a combi without breaking anything?.
  2. I had exactly the same issue with leds in the boot. Worked absolutely fine for 6 months then it all went pear shaped, and these were Superskoda ones. Took them out and all back to normal.
  3. I love my Citigo, the most fun I've had in a car since I had an old mini. The Up Gti must be an absolute hoot.
  4. I changed my 17" alloys for 16" steels with all seasons tyres, much more comfortable on bad roads, no difference in performance that I can tell.
  5. Are you getting any connection to the car? See this :-
  6. The water pump is on a different belt to the cam so there is no point in changing the water pump unless there is a problem with it.
  7. I'm all for changing the water pump on a diesel due to the extra cost of dismantling if it packs up but cannot see the point on a 1.2 or 1.4 tsi petrol. Are VW group water pumps really that bad?
  8. Worth looking at this:- robs12 Finding my Feet Members 22 1 77 posts Posted 23 March (edited) When the engine was introduced, VW made lots of noise about the belt lasting for the life of the engine - it did not have a replacement interval and the VW blurb said maintenance free - see page 13 of the VAG Service Training manual here: https://procarmanuals.com/vag-ssp-511-new-ea211-petrol-engine-family/ VW blurb here, about half way down about toothed belt: https://www.volkswagen-newsroom.com/en/the-new-golf-das-auto-international-driving-presentation-2797/the-new-golf-powertrain-structure-engines-and-gearboxes-2835 Inspection was at ~160k miles, then again every ~20K, change only if needed. But Skoda UK suggest change it every 5 years/50K miles: https://www.skoda.co.uk/_doc/8b70c541-726b-4996-9999-66ebc7ca520b Take your pick.... Edited 23 March by robs12
  9. Hijacking this slightly, based on the info above, could I use these https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/KYB-HEAVY-DUTY-REAR-COIL-SPRING-FOR-SKODA-OCTAVIA-COMBI-1Z5-SUPERB-ESTATE-3T5/324010753655?_trkparms=aid%3D111001%26algo%3DREC.SEED%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D20160727114228%26meid%3D7076dd06bac64b3d88ca0c7d407fb4a2%26pid%3D100290%26rk%3D1%26rkt%3D4%26sd%3D324010753655%26itm%3D324010753655%26pmt%3D1%26noa%3D1%26pg%3D2060778%26brand%3DKYB&_trksid=p2060778.c100290.m3507 instead of the standard springs on my 2016 1.4tsi combi?
  10. Got it coded this morning, was already coded as "fleece" even though the original was an EFB, 68amp/h where it was 59, no battery number at all or maker . Changed everything bar the maker but put 11 digits in the number field, will it matter? I think not but open to remarks on that. Skoda don't exactly worry too much how they code the battery originally.
  11. Thanks to all. Back to my man tomorrow morning.
  12. According to top of my Moll battery there are only 2 indicator colours, black and yellow. Black is good, yellow is knackered.
  13. So, from this. VCDS coding required From the Main screen:- Select Control Module [Select] [19-CAN Gateway] Advanced Functions screen:- [Adaptions-10] New value choice screen:- Change the following four channels, inputting the relevant data about the new battery. IDE03256-MAS06105-Battery adaptation-Rated battery capacity, IDE03256-MAS06106-Battery adaptation-Battery technology, IDE03256-MAS06107-Battery adaptation-Battery manufacturer, IDE03256-MAS06108-Battery adaptation-Battery Serial Number, Battery BEM codes are now redundant with the above separate channels. The most important channels are, Rated battery capacity, Battery technology, & Battery Serial Number. For the Battery Serial Number, just change one digit of the old one. This channel tells the BCM that a new battery has been installed & to relearn the new battery & forget any “learnt values” for the old battery! Is this correct for a 2016 Octavia and change the technology to "fleece".
  14. This is does not appear to be any help as it does not give any option for using non-original batteries and changing EFB to AGM.
  15. I am struggling to get my garage to do the coding for my change of battery from EFB to AGM. He cannot find the where the battery adaption is within VCDS. Could someone give me the procedure right from the beginning after opening up in VCDS, please?
  16. Can anyone tell me if that Yuasa battery is suitable for my 2016 1.4tsi sel?
  17. It sorted itself, gremlins in the electronics.
  18. Further update, shut the hatch properly, locked, back to normal.
  19. Further update, if the boot is not fully shut and then locked there are no flashing lights so at least I can lock the car up, but I have to shut the boot fully before driving off. Looks like a new boot catch in due course.
  20. This problem has started since I loaded a mattress in the back and had to shut the boot firmly to shut it. The mattress has been removed. When I lock the car the boot warning flashes on the dash and the hazards flash even though the boot is locked. Sometimes if you leave it unlocked it will lock up on its own then the flashing starts up and the alarm goes off. If you lock the car then unlock the boot with the remote the flashing will stop and there is no boot open message on the dash-the boot is unlocked all the rest is locked. If you then open the boot and shut it the flashing kicks off again. I do not have any form of scanner. So, at the moment I can lock the car but have to unlock the boot afterwards to stop the flashing but then it locks the boot again and off we go again. Now trying leaving the boot unlatched with the boot open warning on the dash, hopefully the alarm won't go off now. Any offers?
  21. I glued mine back on after knocking it off in a petrol station. Can't remember what I used but it lasted well over a year until I part exchanged the car, I was very careful opening the flap after the repair.
  22. Checked here-no but they do 2014 Golf manual. https://haynes.com/en-gb/car-manuals?gclid=Cj0KCQiA34OBBhCcARIsAG32uvPNlO-OUzYuInen8o7MyAL0gpPvCBvmOCpu7UHeqwfo4lU1LazaovgaAmtNEALw_wcB
  23. Have a browse of this which will give you a good idea of the specs etc by viewing the individual cars.. I have a 14 plate 60ps Greentech manual so have no experience of the ASG. https://usedcars.skoda.co.uk/en/used-cars/skoda/model-search?atDistancePos=47-12079-115473%3A2&limiter=dkey[47-12079-115473%3A6]&mkey=47-11988-60546&country=gb&lat=52.443321&lon=-0.83367002&unitSystem=imperial&currency=GBP&customer=&mcategory=all&zip=NN14+2LB&radius=8047&price_from=&price_to=&gears=1||7&km_ab=&km_bis=&gas=&manufacturer=54&reg_date_from=&reg_date_to=&doors_grouped=&consCombined_from=&emission_to=&cylinderCapacity_to=&kw_from=&trim=1628%3ABlack+Edition%3BColour+Edition%3BElegance%3BIV+SE+L%3BMonte+Carlo%3BSE%3BSE+L%3B!
