  1. the time is getting closer for me to swap my company vehicle which is on a lease scheme Currently I have an '08 L&K Octy, 2L TDI PD 140bhp... and I've been very happy with it - if I was being picky I would complain about rear leg room and road noise, but other than that I have been well happy. Its actually my second octy in a row. So for my new vehicle it looks like I can get a new Superb saloon at a comparable cost...the Elegance model at 140bhp The 170bhp is going to cost me about another £30 a month and I'm trying to keep the cost down as much as I can really so I can afford to include a few extras (metallic paint, upgraded sound, hill hold & KESSY) Considering the extra physical size/weight of the Superb compared to my octy, will I be dissapointed in the 140bhp CR engine? I have to admit I have not test deriven one yet, but as I only get a restricted number of tests before ordering a new car I'd rather try the engine I'm most likely to purchase ..so everyones opinions here would be greatly appreciated. cheers
  2. they could add... metallic paint auto-dimming rear view mirror front and rear parking sensors (park assist) hill hold rear side air bags Upgraded stereo (10 speakers) nets in the boot Heated washer nozzles ipod interface choice of 17" or 18" wheels mats I'd buy it!
  3. so why don't they do an L&K version of the superb?
  4. absolutely, that's exactly the case with me as I have it on the Octy L&K....I often forget I don;t have it when I jump into SWMBO's car!
  5. So is it possible to spec an SE up to the elegance level? Would It make finamcial sense to do so? The Columbus and bluetooth is a must - if not only for work, but Also for the great stereo with the hard disk which I've really got used to! I listen to A LOT of music on the go. May even consider uprading to the 10 speaker system. Also does the superb have the hill hold start thingy? Thanks for opinions so far
  6. hi all not been aroudn on here in what seems like ages. I currently drive an Octavia 2L TDI PD L&K 08 plate. Its a brilaliant car and I have nothing negative to say about it. Practically speaking abit more room in the back would be useful and if I'm being picky the PD engine is a tad noisy at times ANyway, its on a lease due for renewal next year and I'm therefore already thinking about the next car. A superb is on my list, but I'm totally out of date with the latest specs. So the questions to you all are what spec would I not be disspointed with and would be closest to or better than my current Octy L&K (which also has columbus satnav and bluetooth)? thanks all!
  7. Hi all sorry for the cross post, but it was suggested I might get a better response here rather than in the styling and car care forum so my leased Octavia's horrid car mats that the lease company provided have been finally binned after I wore a hole through with my heel just got an original skoda set from rainworth motors eBay store and was considering how I might protect them and stop them from going the same way so quickly. They've already had an application of chemical guys fabric protection stuff So has anyone added heel plates/pads to their mats? What would you recommend? I spotted these http://www.modworld.co.uk/aluminium-heel-plate-for-car-mats---black-7019-p.asp they do a black one, but can't help thinking they are a bit too chavvy for me! But perhaps they look better it the flesh? Has anyonye used these? Thanks chris
  8. 9. really sorry to hear that, I think I was the one who posted the K750i worked - for me it did no hassle at all my OEM BT kit is less than a year old - if there is a newer version of it I would be surpised if they made it less compatible it could well be a phone firmware incompatability I'm sorry I can;t check my K750i now becasue I have a new phone and passed it on to someone else perhpas some other members here have that phoen working OK and can help?
  10. nice one smstext I'm also a fan of AG products from new about 12months ago I had only washed and waxed my octy it has been in the body shop twice, once to repair a scratch that was there upon delivery and then after an accident new bumper and bonnet had to be knocked out and resprayed - they did a real bad machine polish that gave very visible swirls in sunlight (more like a haze actually) Anyway, so last weekend I did a more thorough job, but didn't feel a need to clay I'm not thread hijacking but just wanted to follow-up the Autoglym comments and give them a thumbs up too! I snow foamed the car with presure washer, hadn washed (2BM) with turtleWax shampoo. I then used by hand SRP and EGP combo plus collonite 476S, then finally meguilars last touch detailing spray and am VERY happy with the result - even managed to sort oout those swirls At first you may not think you need the EGP, but it really does make a difference. SRP and EGP are not only designed to go together but the EGP gives the wax something to bond to I think this combo is very good for dark paintwork - my octy is storm blue jamjar - I don't seem to have the greasy/smearing issue you mentioned. Is perhaps the polish pad contaminated somehow? or maybe you let a bit of shampoo into the wax tin by accident or something? I think cleaning your polish pads, wash mitts, cloths etc is equally important as cleaning the car - I use non-bio powder and bung them all in the washing machine after each time I use them hth
  11. thanks - pearl 8120 is already on the list above, but note minor incompatability when using with the columbus satnav cheers mf
  12. I'm surprised there do not seem to be more good quality options in the third-party mats arena surely not everyone is using skoda brand mats? or actually does this thread confirm that they're the best to stick with?....
  13. thanks all - I think I'll drop the lease company a line to check on this seeing as they instruct the dealer to replace with the lease branded mats at the mo I'm going through the process of having some paint finish repaired and its been a bit of a nightmare to sort out with the supllying dealer, I don't want to start banging on about mats and upset things further so may just decide to go and buy some myself! so any recommendations for third-party mats or would you stick with skoda ones?
  14. in terms of floor mats what should you get ast standard with the current 2.0L TDI L&K? reason I'm asking is I think I may have been skanked out of them because my car is a lease....I ended up with lease company branded grey floormats, which on the drivers side haven't lasted five mins :( if there should have been some L&K mats then I'm going to contact the delivery dealer direct and see if I can get some gratis
  15. as of yesterday I am now a happy v3 DVD owner Big thumbs-up to farmers again
  16. there are a few main carparks off the main road (A6), you are unlikey to be able to park on the main road itself As the meet suggests the station car park for Matlock Bath (not "Matlock") is probably best Matlock Bath Rail Station Car Park on Google Maps
  17. d'oh!! Matlock is 10/15 mins down the road for me but I don;t think I'll be able to make it Have a good day and make sure you sample the fish & chips....the illuminations are now on also, so worth staying around to early evening at least Matlock Bath Illuminations 2008 plenty of great pubs and real ales too, but not much use since everyone will be driving! cheers mf
  18. Ish!!! How come you;re still waiting?!?! I have not had the greatest success talking to my dealer (they are t'other end of the country becasue car ordered via leasing company) but they finally came back to me and said it woudl be easier if I were to deal directly with my local dealer So I called Farmers' Nottingham on Monday - they said OK, but without proof of purcahse they coudn't sort it. Rang back original pain in the a***e dealer, who agreed to provide necesary details to Farmers' by fax. Spoke with Farmer's this morning and its all sorted, they are expecting a new v3 DVD for me to arrive tomorrow so I just have to drop by with the v2 one....that's 4 days!!! Seriously, give Farmers a call and ask to speak to Steve in the service department......he's "the man", sure he will be able to sort it for you. good luck mf
  19. I think baker21 would be a bit of a trek from Derbyhire although I'm sure would do a great job look up Long Eaton Valeting Mobile Car Valeting Long Eaton Derby and also superior shine at stoke who may be in range depending on where in derby you are www.superiorshine.co.uk - Home
  20. I did mine by hand last weekend, and probably it will get a second coat this weekend if the rain holds off (which I doubt!) ...by hand it was probably one of the easier waxes I've used. I also finished it off with meg's last touch E-Commerce
  21. I have previously used autobritedirect and the more recently CleanYourCar Just the fact that there was a handwritten note thanking me for my order signed by whoever had dispatched it will make me return there again. Prices are so competitive on the internet nowadays its little things like this that differentiate - so thumbs up to CleanYourCar
  22. I asked the same question a while back and in the end plumped for the 476S over the 915 for my storm blue octy briefly, 476S is more durable; 915 is harder to buff off, is less durable but gives a more "wet" look been impressed so far with the 476S, I think it has bought out the blue more than previous that's probably an odd thing to say and most would not notice the difference, but as I'm looking at it every day I do notice the difference it was suggested to me that you could use the 476S and then a coat of 915 to get the combination of durability and the wet look
  23. 122.9 round nottingham now and I have some 5p off a litre vouchers Wonder how long this will go on for before it starts to creep back up again?....
