  1. hi there, 05 superb water issues again. damp smell ? steamed up windows front courtesy lights not working boot light not working dash irregularities ? drivers seat not moving about electrically new battery going flat, something not shut down all fuses intact hmmmmmmm there be water in there , and possibly whales too given the amount of water! but the top of the carpet is dry !! sure enough, there is. so i checked about a bit and now..... im doing this exact operation on my 05 superb as we speak, although its having to be done in stages because of work commitments removal of scuttle panel and check pollen filter housing and check drain bungs removal of nearside seat and carpets to expose wiring loom there was a link i saw that got me into looking in to the rear foot well as well as the usual front one. again i thought it was only the fronts that needed attention, but when the carpets are up you can see that the water can slosh about into the rear with no problem. the pollen seal was broken, deteriorated so that was cleaned out and sealed with a thick bead of sealant the seat and carpet have been taken up and now drip drying i have bailed out the foot wells over three days now and still the carpets aren't dry or stopped dripping there were large puddles in the foot wells and the wiring is sodden. other than the systems not functioning you could be fooled into thinking theres nothing wrong and theres no water leaks, dont be fooled ! its amazing just how much water can be absorbed into the under lay with no obvious signs on the surface. wiring will be done when interior is dry, im hoping that even though there is a lot of water in the car the ecu will be fine, and that when the wires are stripped back and repaired the circuits will all be working again thanks to everyone who has posted the invaluable info hope these help you out
  2. hi there im doing this exact operation on my 05 superb this link got me into looking into the rear footwell to find the wiring faults, again i thought it was only in the front, pollen housing is now sorted cleaned and sealed with a good sealer carpets are drip drying wiring will be done when interior is dry thanks everyone, .
  3. hi there , yes you are correct, i have removed the seat, the trims, and the rear seat base, pulled up the carpet to expose the sodden floor and wiring. the carpet is propped up by a couple of lengths of wood and the carpet and underlay is now drip drying! the wiring on first inspection is together but i know its slightly green , which means oxidization and poor conductivity, hense many circuits failing. i have looked at the pollen housing and the seal had failed , it was hard and brittle and fell to pieces the inner one was pristine, so everywhere was cleaned thoroughly and sealed with a very thick bead of silicone sealer, and was then fitted, once in place there was evidence of the sealer pushed out around the housing.lovely jubbly. so when the carpets are dry i will repair and solder the wires i will keep everyone posted thanks so far
  4. does anyone know if there any crimped nodes in the nsr foot well on the superb???? i saw a picture of someone with rear carpet up aswel as the usual front issue, with taped up loom that seemed to be repaired. yes there are more crimped nodes in the nsr foot well hi its 25 march and im still drying out and repair the car im at 13 broken wires in the nsr foot well and counting!! its now the 26th and ive finished the repairs here are photos of all the rotten wires i hope this helps
  5. hi there im a new superb owner mine is a tale of woe also i thought there was no leak because the carpets were dry ON TOP but they will be damp, if not soaked underneath even if they are slightly damp, the wiring will deteriorate and possibly ruin the ccm there are several wiring joints taped to the ns footwell loom and as iv found they cause trouble even if they are still crimped mine are greenish but crimped, but ive been told this can still cause lack off items working, green is bad. but i have found someone else who has posted pics and destructions on this site showing the rear carpets up also, with what looks like repairs too, im trying to contact that member for an answer. i will be cutting out the crimps and soldering in, then insulating then repairing the pollen housing where the leaks start from.
  6. hi my 2005 superb has the big satnag/stero fitted to the centre console, is there a tv option for this car ? if so what bit do i need to make it work if its at all possible?
  7. hi there im looking at your repairs to wiring mine will start soon, as ive the same issues, but i havent seen or read about the rear footwell on the ns causing issues was there a problem in the raar footwell aswell? or was it a check, are there these crimped nodes in the back? i thought it was just confined to the front, so ive checked mine there only but ive just read and seen your account and now im concerned
  8. hi , follow the guides on where?? i clicked a very feint link about hovercrafts?
  9. ah the superb and its water issues, the loom is wet, the floor is a pond, the underlay stinks like a cat has been peeing in it,the crimped connectors are a bit green, how green do the wires in the connectors in the nsf footwell need to be before they are faulty? what i mean is they are a bit green but all still in the crimped connector will this cause electrical faults or does it need to be worse they are feint signs of corrosion, iv seen worse on the info page describing this sort of fault and was wondering weather to bother cutting and refitting? no wires seem to be broken the ccm is dry, but there are no courtesy lights in the boot or front, but do work when switched manually, i thought that the contacts in the door switches were knack-ed, but it registers doors open on the dotty matrix, that seems to have a mind of its own, or is possessed! so can anyone advise before i don my doctors outfit and try and breath some life into this mechanical headache? the other faults were elecy seat not working on drivers side, but that now works since the brand new battery went flat all on its own,god knows what caused it , im thinking something didn't switch off or shut down, so was recharged and it started working, but that was one day ago and an eternity in the the traumatic life of one of these vehicles so it may have packed up again and the dotty matrix is just that, dotty! sometimes it works sometimes it doesn't its kind of working now
  10. i there , hmm, you got issues like me! always nice to know im not the only one, i bought a superb( questionable name) approx 3 weeks ago , a 130 elygonce, seemed good, then the stephen king horror story started! it hasnt turned a wheel since i left it on the driveway, well not really left, more like dumped in a great big huff, and i havent bothered with it since. primarily because i cannot squeeze into the front seat because only a dwarf could get in,as the electric seat on the drivers side has run out of electricity! why ? because it can!! then theres the lack of display on the dot matrix, its a bit secretive, like the kgb, commrade. it did work, but then it decided to pack up, all in the space of covering no miles sitting on the drive! then theres the front interior lights or lack of light then theres the boot light light , again lack of illumination, the car is in self destruct mode. if i ever get round to getting enthusiasm to get it fixed , i wonder what else would have gone wrong in the meantime? terminal rust, car disolving, engine gearbox faults , who knows!!!! then i find that the cd boot changer was robbed along with the brolly no first aide kit but i did get sodden underlay under the carpets with knackered wiring , BONUS ! hmm im actually working out its value against an insurance claim, lol ! but it could be worse....... i have never been part of a online community with anything,i always thought it was a bit anoraky, this was until last week (not actually a week yet) when i joined and have had great help and insight from the poor unfortunates like us, giving helpful info on there findings and experience. dont give up hope just yet even though i have , for now anyway!
  11. on a different topic has anyone put on one of those super chips and what type and what were the results? the sales folk say wondrous things but i here customers saying not to bother didnt notice difference apart from higher fuel useage
  12. does anyone know what fuses im looking at to check or if there are others hiding and where are the relays, can you probe with a test light on a 05 car or is it can bus and need to use a test meter, before i possibly do any damage?
  13. nah, i assumed that ze germans built good cars! to date no problems with the passat but i did check the history and it did have this mod done and wiring issues before i owned it.makes you wonder what fritz was on the day they dreamed up this opening! lol i never really looked at forums before i just bought a car cos it looked ok! but thats all changed now, thanks to all that have posted the info, i'll be looking at the wiring soon and reporting the findings.
  14. hi there, im going to try and look at this as a soon as the weather warms a bit ,but ive noticed the windows are getting steamed up a bit but carpet is dry under the mats?, so i assume the the underlay is soaking then? i will drop into vw dealer and get the upgraded seal kit and give it a go, do you think this has caused the dot matrix to go insane? or do you know of similar faults?, and my passat , i checked its history before i owned it and low and behold its had a wiring job and a seal under the scuttle ect ect, but thats up 4sale at moment, kind of wished i hadnt bought the skoda as i hadnt had an issue with the vw.( touch wood) are there any other nasties on the superb, its a 05 elegonce manual 1.9 130, and done 124k, presumably on the back of a recovery truck!
  15. hi there i have this fault too drivers electric seat not working no front courtesy lights when door opened but red lights and switch works them and finally dot matrix has given up the ghost just yellow haze
  16. hi there im new to this, but after owning a vw passat b5.5,with little to complain about i thought i'd get the bigger and better superb(stop laughing, they are superb aren't they) even though this seems like a job for the trade descriptions act! well where do you start with such wonderful vehicle, the advert said no faults, drives superb, hmmm i'll stop there , which is exactly what the car did, it just stopped working! no interior front courtesy lights , just annoying! no electric drivers seat (although the waffle iron they build into the seat base strangely works fine) no memory to the drivers seat.... Alzheimer's ! and now after not using it since i bought it, due to the fact that the pygmy who sold it to me with the seat touching the windscreen, i cant actually get in and drive it, unless i change gear with door open !the digital dot matrix has gone bandit and is just as useless as the rest of it. what they at skoda/ borat industries have to understand is that we have expectations, when we buy a car we want it to work or when it doesn't, a trip the arches to see phil and grant where they kick and shout at it and jobs a gooden! not some drawn out vehicular autopsy with the cars innards strewn across the workshop connected to some form of electronic life support and a tech looking dazed! this type of air inlet under the bonnet is the same on the passat and other cars, including the uber expensive mercedes benz, shame that the fatherland didnt adopt this technical approach and build their u boats the same way! any suggs????
  17. skoda superb, sounds like a court case for misrepresentation to me!
