Snow chains - two wheels or four?
meta55 replied to toonfan66's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk II (2004 - 2013)
I dont see what harm harm it would do fitting all 4 wheels with chains in bad weather, as all 4 wheels will be in action in the snow and ice, so you will have all wheels breaking and driving. -

Is it such a bad thing to have the lights on in bright sunlight, bikers do it all the time. -

Octavia II manual or electric seats
meta55 replied to Chris_55's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk II (2004 - 2013)
if you have the volvo v70 take the skoda for a long drive before you decide, the seats in the volvo are like sitting on a couch and i dont think any car on the road apart from a rover 75 that can match the volvo for comfort -
When driving home today they the death bell ping sounded, saying engine fault. when i got home i put the code reader on it and it came up with code P2103 throttle actuator control motor circuit high. According to tinternet it means the throttle position sensor or loom, if i had the petrol vrs i would know were to look as i have the diesel i have no idea were it is, or is the throttle peddal itself. The car is a 2008 vrs disel.

I once saw a skoda with the old french type lights fitted in the fog lamps, i have no idea as to how, were the lamps came from but they would be great in the fog.

Heard a wee tale that the vag group delays are due to the sales boom in china. the number of sales in china far outstrips the sales total of alot of european countries together, so it looks like who buys more wins, and not careing about the people who got you there.

Special metallic paints, anyone?
meta55 replied to tomasis1's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk II (2004 - 2013)
thats how we should be choosing colours any way, with the amount of money we pay for our car's. And not getting charged another 25% for it. -
Manual or 6 speed tiptronic
meta55 replied to Wayne Kerr's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk II (2004 - 2013)
I would never buy a vag group car with a dsg till they stop all the problems they have with them, and no im not saying the manuals don't have problems. The only motor i have driven is a tranporter that has the dsg, and yes it changes fast, smooth. The repair cost of the dsg boxes are thruogh the roof with some media mags reporting charges up to 6k for a box, how can than be cost effective to a car thats 3 years old. -
Octavia drivers we need your votes!
meta55 replied to BriskodaCalendar's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk II (2004 - 2013)

Was the mazda 6 the mps model that has the 2.3 turbo, and was it mapped. as i said in a other post my car kept up with a r32 doing a overtake, would have it's ass kicked from a stand still, so it looks like when the wheels are turning theres nothing much between any car with a bit of power until you start going crazy power.
-
Has anyone seen the topic in auto express about the strip down of a seat, the part that cought my eye was the bit about the wear and damage to the clutch plate springs and the diff bearings. Not looking to good for us who are running these gearbox's

when people on here keep on saying the petrol is a far better car than the diesel, why do they always keep on refering to a tuned petrol. how can you make a call like that, pitching a std diesel against a tuned petrol. yes the petrol is faster to 60 and higher top end, but in real life how many people race to 60 from a standing start and take there car to full speed, most races are done on the open road at speed.
-
can a petrol match a golf r32 from doing 40mph upto 95mph when we both overtake a car on the A9. and the driver of the golf was not happy, think it was more to do with the skoda badge rather what engine i was running lol. Who cares what engine that car just enjoy it.

the std bumper on the mk11 f/l looks the same as the mk11 vrs pre f/l bumper so the would the later ones fit on a early mk11 vrs ??? as they look better.
-
the control box for the locking must be on a constant positive, as you said you pulled out the fuses with no change to amps, so does that mean there is no fuse for the box. not good if there is no safe guard.
-
does that also work for the pre f/l model 2008 cars also.

i meant with the head lamps lol. just read my comment again, god it sounds so creepy.
