  1. can you smell diesel in the oil, if you take the dip stick out and smell it. If there is diesel in the in the oil there must be a badly worn seal or ring. the issue with the belt, the car would run like a bag of nails all the time with no power. if the dealer is still not getting any joy take the car to a diesel specialist.
  2. dont think that car has the dimming mirror, does it not come as a pac with the auto lights, wipers.
  3. I got 30'000 out of the michelin tyres i had on the front of my diesel vrs.
  4. There is a easy and cheap way to get calls through the stereo, plug the phone ito the aux jack point in the arm rest and put the phone in a cradle around the dash area, problem solved. the sound from the phone will come through the speakers and the mic on the phone will pick you up.
  5. dont some bmw's & volvos have orange side lights now. the only thing i would worry about is if ur in a crash, the other party could blame you for showing orange lights. So they could say that you confused them and thought you were turning in and not going strait on. they could look ok though.
  6. Sure it's not the heating setting ur looking at.
  7. 2 miles to work, tell her to walk or bike it lol.
  8. I know it's not on the topic of noise, but dont the limited edition model's also have problems with the alloy wheels too.
  9. 20% off does apply to the vrs, just got offered it from skoda inverness.
  10. If you have xenons, if you dont know what ur doing when changing them theres a good chance that you will get a big ass zap of electicity from them as they use capacitor's to up the voltage.
  11. if the bumper has been repaired and plastic primer wasn't used the paint will just flake of no problem.
  12. I would say the mother-in-laws foot tapping on the floor due to the fact you will never make her happy, and she don't like your driving lol.
  13. why would the air ambulance need a car, i just dont get that bit.
  14. Did they check the under trays for play, as the speed you mention might be the speed that sets them of vibrating. Or is there a rolling road near you, get it on one of them and it will tell you if it's the front end strait away when you drive the cars up the gears on it. if no probs there then you will know it's the back end.
  15. My sensor on diesel vrs had to be changed at the back end of october lasr year. due to the miles on the car and dealer serviced skoda paid for half the parts cost as a good will, as they said it was a common fault. According to a audi master tech if this happens on a audi they replace the sensor, loom and have to re-pin the plug at the ecu.
  16. I will try other dealers, it's just easy to go inverness from elgin, and im from dunfermline and thats were i bought my current vrs.
  17. It would be a new car im looking at that would need to be silver or grey. It would just be a case of ither selling or trading my current vrs for a new one.
  18. The only thing about living so far north, when it comes to selling cars people are not willing to travel to the area unless ur selling it at a crazy low price. and the dealers have a captive market so that keeps the dealer prices up too. think i will give the inverness and dunfermline dealers a chance to match the dtd price.
  19. Apart from the std spec plus what i said on the original post, the stereo is a stream, and the car was fitted with the jumbo box and electric back windows. I have no intrest in the petrol model, both me and my wife like the way the diesel drives. we dont thrash the car and when we do some miles its usualy a fair bit in a short time. The skoda website is a daily check of mine, the cars 2nd hand are more expensive than a brand new car or to many miles or not the spec that i want.
  20. Don't the std 4x4 octavias have real bad soft suspension and bounce about like an american car. there was a topic on here a while back with a 4x4 with weight on/in the back and the nose was in the air.
  21. Went into arnold clark inverness yesterday to see about buying a new octavia vrs diesel. At the moment i have a June 2008 hatch with 33000 miles. Extras on the car are xenons, rear parking sensors auto lights/wipers with auto rear view mirror, maxi dot, upper side air bags. The new car would have the same spec plus a spare wheel and the alcantara, oh and it will be Anthracite this time. The £19532.49 for the new car seems not to bad, but the trade in price for my car £8760 seems a bit low for a car that has a dealer service history, low miles and to be told by the sales man that the car was "very very clean" even the sales manger came out his office to have a look. Think i will give the dealer in dunfermline a phone to see what they can do. What do you guys think of the trade in price us owners can get a bit of blinkers when it comes to our cars prices lol.
  22. WTF Why would you even compare these two cars, one was designed for the track from the go. and the other is a large saloon developed into a monster. Autocar are a bunch of ****s who like to hear there own voice.
  23. If the company dont get back to you withing (i think it's 3 days) report it to the police, and the driver will be charged for leaving the scene. Then lets see if a bit of spit and a finger can sort that out. Im am sick of the damage that's been done to my cars over the years, and i just found a small dent in the rear bumper today when i was washing the car.
