  1. DPF!! on what basis do they think that needs replacing?? seriously fella I would consider finding someone local to you from this website who has VCDS and getting them to scan your car, this garage sound like the usual cowboy outfit and trying to sell you fluff.. once you have a genuine scan with that you have something to work with.. best way to generate limp mode is sit at about 2000rpm in 3rd and floor it!! if the vanes dont move correctly it wont boost, the car will detect issues and the car will go into limp.. Usually if a DPF gets to a certain percentage full regeneration stops happening and that itself will cause limp mode, usually though you can do a forced regen via VCDS and just go for a drive... may need a new pressure sensor if you have a fault relating to the G450 sensor but regardless of all that, start with a full scan.. There is a section on here which will give you the names and locations of those with vcds
  2. Gents the voice of the satnav is easy to change assuming you have Igo Primo.. would suggest signing up to this website (http://www.navitotal.com/) as all the info you need is there.. In relation to fitting the Ipod and USB lead i would say the iPod isn't worth it as its too clunky to use and doesn't catalog well.. however adding the USB you may as well add it at the same time... Best to remove the glovebox for access and what i did was pay halfords a visit, purchased some different sized rubber grommets, bored a hole in the glovebox and used the grommet to make it look nicer.. then stuck an 8gb usb stick in with a whole heap of music videos!!! and MP3 As for your climate, it will display it but you need the newer climate controls for this to work, I swapped mine out and the display worked, but you lose functionality for air recirc etc so decided not to bother... would also mention having a good read of this thread, I know its for the ANS810 but the firmware etc is the same on all models of ANS units... http://www.vwwatercooled.com.au/forums/f78/ans-810-ans-510-proper-rns-510-alternative-73179.html Check firmware version too, latest is M140
  3. Rear console Bushes!!, find them and squirt white grease into them and go for a drive, if they go quiet you need to replace the bushes...
  4. Standard ISO connector block on the back.. most stereos will come with the right connector these days, if its an adroid unit make sure its VW/Skoda specific and it will have the right ones
  5. Would love to but I did it on the online submission thing so wasnt an actual email as such.. still not had a response which is no surprise as yet, ill give it until it reaches what would be 24 hours and then send another!! in regard to why the engine cuts out, and a possible reason for starting issues, I was told it could be a Crankshaft positioning sensor?? I understand the PD engine has 2 sensors and if one fails it defaults to a certain value (could be totally wrong here of course) ive never looked into it though as for me when this starting issue occurs i just keep my foot in it so to speak and crank the ****** over until it eventually starts!! swear and curse a lot whilst doing it too!!! either way im dead set on Skoda at least acknowledging that this engine has issues as a result of the recall.. worst case is they get some negative press and ill be sure the Skoda jokes start to re-appear!!! im sick of defending them now!!
  6. I have read stories about the actuator needing to be set up extremely accurately or you will get this sort of thing happening.. a certain amount of turbo whistle is normal i believe, my PD170 does it and theres nothing wrong with the boost!!! I would suggest looking at the actuator as thats the common thing here having replaced it
  7. INCARTECH = COWBOYS!!! cant be done on your age car, what a load of ****
  8. Having just read through this thread and seeing the BS that Skoda UK have said about the car being remapped etc, I feel the need on behalf of all other owners to have a go myself now, given that my car is standard and never been modified in any way!! see what BS excuse they can come up with to refuse me anything!! I will of course keep you up to date
  9. I`m sure I started one way back, or jumped on one early when i first started having this issue...
  10. So are we to make assumptions here then that the hundreds of people that have moaned about their car turning to **** after the injector change, was actually caused by the injector change?? or because the car them became poorly mapped?? I`m sure i remember reading something on here from Ben at shark suggesting they had a MAP that 100% fixed the issues?? Either way Skoda need to start listening and maybe doing something about it!!! I also have the cut out issues mentioned here, 3 times its happened to me approaching a roundabout!!! Anyone feel a campaign coming on against Skoda UK?? I`m sure if enough of us complain someone will listen, maybe a little article in the press would be nice negative publicity for them, I can hear all the old jokes coming out again!!!
  11. this is the first ive heard of this on a 1.9 engine, but there is a huge thread on the 170PD engine which I have and mine has done the same thing from time to time... without going into too much detail, no one has yet found a definitive answer as to whats the root cause of the problem.. some people have replaced so many parts in the hope of fixing it and nothing has worked... seems to be one of those things!!! even VW/SKODA washed their hands of it once the PD engine was no longer in production!! You may have more luck based on your engine being different, but if its a PD engine likely its the same thing... Sorry I couldnt deliver better news and of course I could well be wrong, but search on here and you will no doubt see similar issues to what you are having described
  12. Take it off and clean it with carb cleaner or something of that nature... A competent mechanic should be able to do it.. have a watch of this as i think its the right engine and part you are referring to
  13. Hi Lofty, Can you point me to what number in the thread it is? Im considering asking a mechanic mate to have a look at doing this for me anyway but want to be sure of what information I give him before he attempts it..
  14. Not sure 2010 CR engine would have the revision of the G450 that suffered all the issues but I had the same prob on my 2007 VRS PD and it was the sensor... do a quick search on here as there are many threads on it one of which I know had the old/new part number.. If that doesnt cure your issue then def check the EGR/Antishudder and have it cleaned.... all else fails its the VNT in the turbo sticking... best place to start though is with a full scan of the car with VCDS or VAGCOM and see what errors are recorded....
  15. Hi Sean, If you are doing this on a MK2 Octy can you do a write up with some pictures etc when your on the way doing it? Ive been interested in this for some time but not got a round to attempting it due to issues with Motorbike taking over time and resources... if it turns out to be a straight swap with a wiring Mod I may well be up for this at some point Dave
  16. Ill pose this question once again for those that may have missed it previously... has anyone done this on a PD170 engine? with EGR cooler still in place? if so do we have any sort of guide/how to??
  17. which model are you looking at and what year car do you have?
  18. PM eddie-NL on here, from memory about £55 quid or so for a genuine stalk, VCDS you can check in the section on the forums to find someone near that will maybe help you do the coding for a few beers.... hardest part is swapping them over.. Start with Eddie though
  19. Anyone thinking of doing this, get a scan of your car first... Find the steering controller version, the PM Eddie-NL and he will be able to tell you if you need to change the controller or not.. He did for me and was spot on, He also sells the stalks for a very reasonable price, you will need VCDS though to code it but mine was done in about 90 mins, and that included half hour for a coffee after disconnecting the battery to let the Airbag discharge!!!
  20. you can order direct from Audiosources, or a company called iceboxaudio.. failing that if you google ANS/DNS810 it will take you to VW watercooled forum and PM a guy called Sandy who is the moderator of that thread, he will be able to ship a unit to you... I believe there is a function to allow this to work with steering wheel controls and Maxidot, google some videos and have a look as im sure ive seen it.
  21. The ANS series have a built in mic at the front, works well enough by all accounts and feedback ive had from people the other end... Not sure about Dimming the back lighting with scroll wheel, it does however dim with lights on/off Double check instructions and Google ANS810 on vw water-cooled forum as on there im sure there is something that mentions reverse camera is a pick up from the unit itself..
  22. Fr0d, where did you try to take the feed for the camera from? I believe people have tried to use reverse lights as a trigger and this wont work as the stereo itself has a trigger wire.. dont ask me the specifics as ive not looked into it fully but think thats the case
  23. can you post some pictures of your lamps and a little bit more of a write up what needed changing? did the lights fit without any mods other than the wiring?
  24. Hi Rizmod, Mine came with the GPS aerial but it looks like a fairly standard one anyway so if yours does not i cant see it being too difficult to buy one cheaply.. best place to stick it is behind the front heater vents.. they just pop out and you will see where to put it.
