I would personally go straight to Skoda UK and raise the issue with them, tell the garage this will be your next port of call and certainly dont give up on this, on any bolt the should use a reasonable amount of thread lock due to engine vibrations etc, sounds to me like this isnt the case so they cocked it up!! i would def start with claim from skoda UK and if that gets you no where solicitors!!

DPF Forced Regeneration Issues
Dread1977 replied to Koxy's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk II (2004 - 2013)
Do you def have full VCDS or VCDS lite??? when i replaced the G450 sensor on mine a mate with full VCDS did that adaptation and forced regen then I went for a drive to lower the soot content in the DPF and eventually once the content droped below 20% it came out of limp mode... maybe your car still saw the DPF as full regardless of the fact you had it cleaned out.. who knows but I do know that a full version of VCDS will allow you to adapt and perform a forced regen- 35 replies

DPF Forced Regeneration Issues
Dread1977 replied to Koxy's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk II (2004 - 2013)
Def look at the G450 pressure sensor, these are known to fail and cause all sorts of DPF issues, mine went 6 months after getting it and spent most of its time in limp mode!! after replacing the sensor and adapting it I did the forced regen and went for a drive and the temp in the exhaust went up to over 700 degrees and i could see the soot coming down.. Seriously fault or not the sensor is only £50 so replace it before going down the garage route and getting shafted!!- 35 replies

whats needed to change Radio
Dread1977 replied to glenpring's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk II (2004 - 2013)
you need nothing more than 10 mins, and a torx screwdriver.. 4 of them in each corner hold the stereo in, to remove the trim you just pull it off from the bottom where the ash tray is.. I went for an ANS810 but the app radio is ok if you want to use your iphone as the main source, you will however need a different facia -
I would poss look to see if the DPF sensor is on the way out, scan it as mentioned and see, these are a common failure on the PD170 (G450) sensor. I also believe but may not be right that the car has 2 stages of regen, one less invasive and one where it ups the Revs on the car and feels awful whilst driving it... i sometimes notice after spirited drive i get a lumpy idle for w hile and then the exhaust note changes and it sorts itself out and goes quiet again.. always suspected it doing a soft regen but no one has ever confirmed how they work

Intermittent engine cutting out
Dread1977 replied to AMB_1's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk II (2004 - 2013)
Thanks for the info Tom, I will look into getting that sensor changed asap!! hasnt cut out in a while but do get the odd starting issue.. will start with that sensor -
NO worries fella, Eddie may well get sick of the recommendations on here, but he is very knowledgeable with these cars and helpful too... if you cant get hold of him ping me again and ill try and help ya
-
The stalk seems to be the right one, cant remember the part number of the one i got but looks identical, however i got mine of Eddie-NL on here so knew it would be worth it and its genuine VAG.. anyway, beside the point, you may find you need to run the wire to your controller as your car is 2005 so may not have the right revision of controller.. Best thing to do is get a scan of your car and list the controller version on here, then maybe PM eddie and ask him if you need the wire, he should be able to tell you.. apart from that its fairly easy to do, took me and a mate 90 mins to do mine

Intermittent engine cutting out
Dread1977 replied to AMB_1's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk II (2004 - 2013)
Ive had a few of these things happen to me too, never have managed to get to the bottom of it (not that ive looked too hard) but heard it could be failing crank positioning sensor, like i say though, never followed it up so would be interested to see what comes of this thread -
Dashcam Footage - What would you do?
Dread1977 replied to gazpot0111645's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk II (2004 - 2013)
still nothing?? -
Yep, its purely cosmetic with the added bonus of restoring the climatronic display on the HU, i decided against it as in actual fact it was bloody annoying displaying every time the climatronic decided to change the temperature in the car, or fan speed or anything so went back to original controls before I cut any wires!!

No, I do take my car to a place on an industrial estate, but the one that the OP went to just has a certain look about it... I guess its what you become used to but ive been using the same tire place for 20 years so I guess I know what im getting... plus the fact I always stop and watch and they have no problem with you standing outside with them whilst they do your tires, or tracking etc -

ooohhh this looks like it, and the state of the road explains the jarring I saw at the start of the video the the spotty **** floored it... Dont worry OP, us internet investigators will name and shame for you... I gotta say though, the place looks like a dive and I def wouldnt have taken my car there... https://www.google.co.uk/maps/@54.528411,-1.522731,3a,75y,147.92h,79.35t/data=!3m4!1e1!3m2!1sGzbwDxY_1XgGfwwGXNFhOQ!2e0!6m1!1e1?hl=en -
Advice on some good tyres
Dread1977 replied to MaZvRSTSI's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk II (2004 - 2013)
Toyo Proxes are good, last well and grip like mad... but in all honest if you arent doing track days and driving like a **** in the wet just go for nankang NSII or something similar -

Dread1977 replied to gazpot0111645's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk II (2004 - 2013)
Ive been to a place before that does tires and brakes etc and the only time they drove my car was to check the brakes after the pads had been done, tracking and balance can be checked by you when you pick the car up, after all its what it went there for in the first place!!! As for what the cam footage shows, id be ****ing LIvid if some spotty little prat drove my car like that with permission let alone without it!! id want his insides spilt on the workshop floor, but would settle for him being in the ****e with his boss... Bottom line, never leave your car alone with them and if they need to test drive it go with them.. Let us know how you get on and where this goes, and on another note thanks for confirming I need one of those cameras, was on the fence but will invest now.. -
Whooshing noise on turbo power up vRS CR 58 plate
Dread1977 replied to iandb's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk II (2004 - 2013)
50.1 isnt beyond a regen fella, mine was over that when i eventually got to replacing the failed pressure sensor... mine was around 54% i know there is all the scare mongering about fires etc and skoda UK wont do it because they are gay!!! however i left the laptop hooked up, mate sat in the passenger seat with VCDS running and we went for a drive as per instructions and gradually the soot content started to go down and eventually came out of limp at 20% but i cleared it right down to 1%.. Id say you need to get someone who fully understands VCDS to look again for you -
