  1. My rear near side wheel bearing needs replacing although not to bad yet. I’ve had two attempts to remove the brake disc without destroying it. Any tips on this as it it is still servicable or commit to two new disc and pads ?
  2. Yes good idea. I’ve saved the box in my service manual. Now need to measure Fuel and Air filters so can order decent quality ones
  3. That’s a good price for a reputable oil ( Fuchs) . I settled for comma oil in the end but will certainly keep this in mind
  4. Actual price very reasonable. Even more so after recent aftermarket buys that were wrong ( relying on vehicle reg system. Having worked with the Oil supply system pays to get reputable make. I was once a fan of Comma oils but not sure if they are still around
  5. Okay cheers. Picked oem one up today from main dealer. They didn’t sell oil so any recommendations ?
  6. I’m going to do a service on my VRS. The GSF web site lists two types Oil filter for mine. How can I confirm on top of the reg check.
  7. Do the rear upper shock mounts deteriorate with age ie the rubber bush softens ?
  8. Another question I should have asked as now that I’ve replaced a lot of suspension parts do the rear upper shock mounts suffer with wear ? At least I could do these myself if needed
  9. When i sent photos off to Bilstein showing the Oem ones fitted to my Vrs they said never seen this type before so i didn't pursue the their sports version. As my Top mounts needed replacing i also went for Oem front struts as to be fair Skoda prices are not that to expensive relatively. Hopefully i can sell the standard Vrs ones online etc. Thanks for all the info.
  10. Skoda part No : K1T0413031HP There are two types shocks fitted VRS sports or non sports both (55mm) I was supplied with the non sports ones. unfortunately Bilstein uk dealer not the best customer service but in the end I need Job done so went for Oem.
  11. visited my Skoda main dealer, and bought a set of VRS (2uc) front shocks identical to mine plus matching Top mounts/bearings. Do not know why Bilstein have no listing for these. Now have a set of new Bilstein front shocks to find home for

  13. found some info at last. manufactures part No (2K5413031) shows shock similar to mine which is listed for Octavia fitting. Probably Sachs

  15. bought the car with only 3 k on the clock. First registered to Skoda uk.
  16. after searching nearly every web site for Octavia 2 front shocks pictures, i can not find any thing similar to mine. Bilstein uk were right ! Hopefully my main Skoda dealer can help solving this ?
  17. The Bilstein B4 shock supplied Rod diameter is 25.5 mm. I do not have the measurement for the Oem one. Bilstein have got back to me saying that they have never seen a Oem shock like this. Yes the B6 looks like it has a stepdown. As my top mount also needs replacing im going to cut my losses and go Oem.
  18. I’ve spoken to Bilstein and sent photos etc as they do not list alternative in B4 ?

  20. Just had my mechanic booked to change the front shocks on my VRS with Bilstein B4 ( 22 132 614 ) shocks However these shocks are the wrong ones. The top of the original shock damper rod has a step down ( dia) that fits into the top mount ?

  22. Okay cheers. As I think it’s a rear unit, when doing this check does the suspension need to be suspended ie jacking from body or not ( jacking underneath ) ?
  23. My mechanic sprayed the gearbox linkage with lubricant. Cured the fault
  24. What’s the best method of determining a faulty wheel bearing ? Probably coïncidence but I had the ‘ spanner’ icon show on the dash recently to
  25. Does anyone know the correct part no for VRS front wheel bearings. GSF list two types for my Reg only difference seems 3 or 4 bolt fixing ?
