  1. My vrs has stalled on me several times changing up from first to second gear. If i keep the revs reasonably high when doing so then not a problem. The flywheel and clutch have recently been renewed so not that. Didnt think diesels could stall so easily. I have asked my mechanic to connect his fault code device to see if anything shows up ?
  2. Worked like a dream.cheers !
  3. My bonnet skoda emblem badge is somewhat faded. What is the recommended way of removing the existing one ? A quick look it seems to be glued in situ ? The replacement one has a pre glued back.
  4. The gear change on my vrs tends to be ‘notchy’, similar to clutch drag. recenty had a new Clutch & flywheel fitted. Are there any known linkage items that would respond to lubrication or would a clutch system bleed help ?
  5. Will a VCDS check show all glow plug faults ? My previous diesel octavia would start rough if i cranked it before the glow plug light went out.
  6. New starter motor fitted today. Old one was faulty. Like new again.
  7. Yes very slow cranking plus noise. I will know either way this week when new starter motor is fitted. I will update on the outcome.
  8. Ive owned the car virtually since new, so got to know it somewhat. The battery has done less than 5k, the alternator less than 2k, plus it dosent sound right if that makes sense
  9. As i havent changed out a starter motor since my mk2 cortina i was intrested to know the cause of possible failure. admittely ive kept the car at high mileage but i intend on keeping it a while.
  10. I trust my mechanic and he is of the opinion that at 150k the starter motor are known to get ‘tired’. I did read that failing DMF can generate amounts of swarth which can damage them ?
  11. Found some info, swarf left over from a worn DMF can lead to early wear on the startor motor
  12. Im having a new starter motor being fitted to my 150k Diesel VRS this week. Only recently also had a new clutch and DMF fitted to. The flywheel was quite badely worn, would this have increased the wear rate on the startor motor ?
  13. Mine has presently done just under 150k. It starts slowly and sort of speeds up. Also seems noisey. As the alternator is new and battery only 2 yrs old, time for a change maybe. My mechanic says much the same thing.
  14. At what sort of milage can you expext the starter motor needs replacing. Also what signs indicate a tired unit ?
  15. At 150 k had new clutch fitted. Also DMF changed to. Surprising it was not showing all the typical symptons but would stall very easily. P.S would like to change out the injectors but cost prohibited.
  16. What sort of mileage are the cr diesel engines capable of ?
  17. A saving is there if reconditioned injectors fitted. These should work as good as new ?
  18. Interesting fact VCDS can identify injector issues ?
  19. Reconditioned ones would bring the cost down I suppose
  20. Got a quote today for replacing 4 x injectors plus programming. Ouch I’ll wait till existing ones fail !
  21. Ive recently renewed several components on my VRs which has made considerable improvement to drivability. Love to change out injectors as have done this on other diesels with good results however cost is too prohibited, Bering in mind car running okay. Wonder what sort of mileage they’re good for ?
  22. New clutch & DMF fitted today. Drives really nice now. Flywheel was badly worn.
  23. Hopefully the new clutch / flywheel will sort the issue. Also do the plastic bushes at the base of the gear-lever wear ?
  24. Just thinking when the new clutch goes in the cables are disconnected any way so the garage might adjust them anyway. I will check ?
  25. Just seen the cable adjust clip. Many thanks
