  1. Impressive figures for a 1.8, and no doubt a proper street sleeper
  2. I'm still looking at what's about and it appears the 1.8 tsi isn't a bad choice. As usual it's a replacement for a Leon cupra. I want something quick ish but with slightly better fuel economy. The 1.8 makes half decent figures with a remap and 12k gets you one less than a year old. Is the elegance trim much different from the se or se + ? For those of you that have the 1.8 what do you think to it ?
  3. cool, would you prefer posting in here or PM ? anyone else ...
  4. I'm not sure when it changed as I only come on here every now and then, but there used to be a few dealers on here with there own section. I'm currently looking at changing my Leon Cupra possibly for an Octavia VRS and wondered if any of the dealers still had a prescence on here and if there was anyone on here to contact. Thanks Steve
  5. I'll second that, my 206 is currently forsale as spares or repair
  6. The 1.6 is a new edition to our fleet, most have covered around 35k in 2 years although I have one that's almost 30k that was new in January. So far so good but the tdci was terrible and they often fell apart around 65k.
  7. Me thinks I need to look at the vrs, 460 on a tank would be great.
  8. I can just get 340 out of 54 litres in a 2.0tfsi cupra, so if that's a petrol I'd say its not bad
  9. I'm starting to like the look of the new focus but found the seats and interior space quite tight. Hopefully the mk3 tdci has the reliability issues sorted out because from 60k onwards they start to fall apart. Sorry tats th mk2, our lease company have dehired plenty of them without any notice.
  10. I have the bsh tank on my cupra, it's been on from 12k and I've now covered 44k, I'm sure there are others but this does the job.
  11. The 2.0 110was available in the golf I think. I had a passat 2.0 tdi 140ps estate on hire and driving sedately and sitting at 55mph I managed 69.9mpg, which for the size of the car was very good. I find the 1.6 a nice engine, it doesn't have lw down grunt but if you use the gearbox is fairly nippy and in fifth at 80 it oes accelerate.
  12. I only ever use jabbasport for service work on our cupra and tt, you would be better off with any indi over a main dealer.
  13. I don't think there will be much in it, although I would expect the larger capacity to have the edge. The 1.6 isn't a bad engine for its size.
  14. We have these engines albeit in golfs, they average 57 mpg but bare in mind most of that is motorway and they are not driven with respect. I had a Leon ecomotive on demo a few weeks ago and that averaged 68 mpg driven gently on single carriage way roads between Peterborough and donnington race track, on short trips of 14 miles it averaged just under 60mpg where as a vw up managed just under 69mpg. For motorways try are fine. They are gutless when sitting in 5th at 50 mph and need to be knocked down to 4th, from 60mph upwards they are fine. Around town you need to be 1 gear lower than it suggests but I did ind the seat better than the golf at determining what gear it should be in. I've yet to try the Octavia 1.6 but hoping to get a Demo for a week very soon. Would I buy one ... Maybe, but I'd give consideration to the 1.8 tsi first.
  15. I'd be interested to know if it's worth going from a tfsi to a tsi. I have a tfsi cupra at the minute and I'm looking at loosing the winter car/banger - 206, and swapping the cupra. I just want something a bit more comfortable and that I can stick a towbar on.
  16. £50 on Easyjet Its a shame its over my £700 budget.
  17. I'm looking for a cheap winter runaround and have seen a Fabia 2.0 petrol at a reasonable price, well less than £900, i realise this is the bottom end of the market and you get what you pay for but the one i have found has two issues, a sticking starter motor, which isn't too bad - unless the 2.0 has a DMF and then it could relate to that :( and the EML is on, now i'm told that the car drives well with no issues, so it could either be something simple like the coolant temp or worst case EGR, now i've looked and for some reason the EGR on the 2.0 is gold plated, prices seem to be around £3-400 new and i don't want to pay that amount out. Is there anything else that it could possibly be, its an 02 car with 60k. It could be a cheap buy but it could also be a money pit. Checking it on the diagnostics isn't possible, its 200 miles away and i don't own it Thanks Steve
  18. I think the used car market is a little slow, to help with the sale you might want to put up some more information and a lot of pictures.
  19. some people expect far to much, its a good job it isn't a 4 door, they rust sooooo much more
  20. When was the cambelt last changed? what's the tyres/windscreen like? any major knocks etc ? is it possible to PM the registration number so i can check the insurance ?
