  1. Cheers. Seems like a backward step not to allow custom logos from USB.
  2. Not convinced by that site. The GPS update instructions say to load the updated files onto an SD card. The Mk4 doesn't have one... I downloaded the radio station logos and put them on my USB-C memory stick - both zipped and extracted for completeness. The ones I want (Classic FM and Heart) aren't in the list but I have them saved from elsewhere so I copied them over to the same folders. In the relevant set-up page, I don't see any option to pick the image from the USB memory.
  3. Sort of linked to the OP's question. How do I get additional radio logos? On my mk3 they were on the SD card and easy to upload. On this car, I go to radio settings >> logos. Find a station that hasn't got a logo and edit. I don't get an option to find another image. I have a brand new USB-C flash drive with a folder for the images. Ta.
  4. I agree with this (as one that's mentioned my new car) in this thread). I assumed the faults were inherent and immediately visible (eg the problem with kph/mph is a software bug that they can't sort out, the inability for Android Auto to connect wirelessly is to do with a hardware version, the 1.5 engine either kangaroos or it doesn't). So when I picked my car up, I was immediately on the lookout for these known faults (I haven't looked at the kph issue as that will never affect me). I know that Android Auto just worked and this car doesn't kangaroo like my previous 1.5 did. The screen boots up when it should and, so far, has behaved. For issues to rear themselves over time implies they are not inherent, but are indeed a fault condition occurring which the software cannot render. I simply have my fingers crossed (though not when driving ) that this car continues to behave itself as I rather like it so far.
  5. So far my Jan built 1.5 SEL is fine but only 150 miles done so far since getting it last week.
  6. ACC works with manual but obviously won't take you down to a standstill.
  7. From my experimentation on my new car yesterday, I think this is an option in the users section, under privacy or something similar (sorry at work so can't quickly check). Why it suddenly decides to tell you is another matter... maybe it loses data connection then when it regains it, reminds you of your settings.
  8. You won't get a new build First Edition... by definition they are the first run cars.
  9. I guess it's just there to warn you that if you start the engine and move off immediately, the front assist won't help until it has booted up. So don't go driving forwards into your garage door! I expect at some point in the past someone did just that, and complained that the front assist hadn't stopped the crash, so they add an icon to make it explicit when the front assist isn't assisting.
  10. Can confirm that wireless Android Auto just worked for me with no set-up required. It even set up the wifi connection automatically. Unit hardware ends in D; phone is Samsung A50. It did NOT work with my wife's Moto e6, as expected as it's on Android 9 and is not a compatible Samsung.
  11. What about D itself?
  12. Hi, SE-L, produced 1st week of January. It was a stock car which was kept for me until the lease on my current one expired.
  13. Tempting fate here, but with the grand total of 25 miles on the clock since picking the car up yesterday, so far all is good! I sat in the car for a couple of hours working out how stuff works. So now have customised home screen that doesn't have the map on it. Skoda Connect has worked fine - a bit annoyed that I had to create a profile for my wife as well, but that's a one-off. As soon as I was connected, an OTA update came through. Have hardware version ending D. Android Auto connects wirelessly with my own phone (Samsung A50) - it just did it, no setting up required. Wife's Moto E6 needs plugging in though. The 1.5 engine is so much smoother than the same engine in my previous car. No kangarooing at low speeds. No longer do I have to consciously dip the clutch to avoid the jerks! On the M1/M62 coming back from Leeds, the ACC felt the same as my previous Octy. Certainly didn't seem to be over zealous with slower traffic on my right when I was in my exit lane. I felt the lane assist once or twice, but it wasn't as harsh as that on an Insignia I hired. Haven't tried it on smaller roads yet though. So plenty of time for niggles to appear, but already better than my previous 2018 1.5 SE Tech, which had the kangaroo as well as a dashboard rattle from day one which never got solved. Fingers crossed it stays this way...
  14. I read somewhere (was it in the thread about handling?) that towbar prep changes the rear suspension settings, as well as installing all the cabling etc.
  15. And not vRS related so apologies. How come the first edition models are still in that brochure given that you haven't been able to order one for ages? The configurator has neither available now.
  16. Skoda themselves must think it's not necessary for clearing the spray when on a motorway, but I can't see the logic of missing it out and having to create two different boot lids or tailgate glasses (not sure where it's mounted). Vauxhall have done the same on the Insignia - I had one as a hire car a couple of years ago which I picked up on a damp, dewy morning. It was really inconvenient not to be able to wipe the dew off. Are you desperate for the stock car? The prices are generally the same as cars built to order, so unless you need it immediately, would it be better to wait and get exactly what you want - or keep an eye out on the stock car listing at vwfs drive?
  17. Nothing unusual - the email address is to a distribution list (DL) that sends the email to a list of people. One of those people has retired but their name was not removed from the DL, hence the email going to her, then bouncing.
  18. I would assume that this is a fault with a particular vehicle, not a characteristic of the model. The system is probably the same as in all the VAG cars - there's no reason why Skoda would develop such a complex system when it exists elsewhere in the group.
  19. Indeed. As far as the driver behind is concerned, they have no way of knowing (nor needing to know) why a car has suddenly braked hard. It could be debris or an animal on the road that they can't see. A driver should never drive so close to the car in front that they can't stop if the vehicle in front emergency braked. However, the safe driving method when being tailgated is to ease off and give more space in front, lessening the need for heavy braking as there's more space to react in. Having the car brake hard when it detects something that isn't there defeats that method. Of course this is all the point of the driver aids - working ACC and collision protect will maintain that safe distance and apply the brakes (and beep very loudly) far quicker than even the best driver. But only when it is working : it is vital to have confidence in it - not confidence that it will get you out of trouble, leading to complacency, but confidence that it won't get you into trouble in the first place! So I hope the radar etc gets fixed. I totally get being wary of a vehicle that's taking over control when it shouldn't, and I hope your dealer takes it seriously and confirms the fix.
  20. As these issues appear to be on the First Edition cars (is it just the FE?) and these were the vehicles used as press cars, it seems strange that no review that I've read mentioned them. Are the press cars more thoroughly checked than those for mere mortals? Not every media publisher is commercially linked to VAG surely.
  21. Not sure. I enquired in Jan specifically to replace my lease car at the end of April. I was quoted 22 weeks, so went for a stock car instead. Luckily I found a car pretty close to the spec I wanted (it's slightly over speced tbh); but I would be annoyed if I'd bought a compromise car only to find I could have ordered the ideal one in time. I think the potential delays are also to do with a worldwide shortage of automotive computer chips, linked of course to C19.
  22. Don't forget that your average buyer/fleet user won't come to a forum like this unless they have a problem or need advice, so the balance of +ve to -ve posts will always skew to those with potential issues.
  23. Thanks. What should I expect this screen to show me if everything is up to date (let's say as of today, 9 Mar 21)?
  24. I'll be picking up a new SE-L in the next few weeks. It's a stock car which was built in week 2 of 2021. What should that mean in terms of hardware version? Can someone post a quick 'how-to' so I can quickly check the software/hardware versions before I leave the dealer, to ensure everything is as up to date as possible? Ta.
  25. I posted this reply in a previous thread, but it's relevant here as well. I was quoted 20-24 weeks when I enquired recently. As that would have taken me well over the end of my lease (and thus requiring MOT, and going out of warranty) we went for a stock car with the spec we wanted - any metallic blue (we've got Race Blue again) and the winter pack. There's a handy (if a bit clunky) website where you can search the cars that are in Skoda stock, usually at the European port. https://drive.vwfs.co.uk/our-brands . This is UK only - I don't know if other countries have something similar. Although it's aimed at PCH customers, I guess the cars there are available for retail as well.
