  1. Heres a thought if the car is under warantee: Suggest the dealer changes the part, if it does not fix the problem you pay if it does they do.
  2. I would suggest you replace the engine coolant temperature sensor. The is a 'how to' in the tech guides.
  3. Here's the info from a Fabia 2001 1.4 Auto Comfort, does this help? 4. Well I can't see this. If VAG-COM will communicate with the car to read live data (" have run my Ross-Tech VAG-COM cable on SHMBO's 2004 Fiesta, it will read most of the sensors (fuel, air, temp, rpm etc) but cannot check for any fault codes or make any changes.") then it must be using a protocol that the VAG-COM interface supports (probably KWP 2000). If PWM was used on the car then it would not communicate at all. So I still can't see why fault codes cannot be read from the vehicle. This is not a criticism of Ross-Tech, but I would like to understand the issue.
  5. VAG-COM should be able to read EOBD fault codes from the engine ECU.
  6. I would have a read through the 1.4 16V EGR threads and pistion ring problems, is the car using oil? As it's an auto it will have the 1.4 16V engine, probably code AUA.
  7. Which 1.4 engine is it? The 16V one is known for a piston rings problem.
  8. This thread may help with the power issue and maybe the fault codes you have. http://www.briskoda.net/forums/fabia/fabia-1-4-16v/86108/ I would suggest carry out a throttle body clean as a first step. Does the car burn a lot of oil, is the air filter contaminated with oil?
  9. I found metal from filing cabinets very good for these sort of jobs.
  10. This lnk may help: remanufactured abs controllers pumps and modulators from bba-reman bosch teves lucas and all other types Often ABS faults are with the ECU (bolted to the hydraulic unit) and not the hydraulic unit itself. The ECU unit can be removed and replaced without touching the hydraulic part, so the ECU can be repaired separately.
  11. Thanks, but there is no relay 109 on the Fabia.
  12. Thanks for the thoughts. The ECT sensor was replaced about a year ago. I understand what you are saying but I can't make the suggestion fit with the fact the rev counter went to zero at the same time. The whole event was so quick that I wondered if I'd imagined it. My wife says this also happened when she was driving the car, same conditions, motorway speed. So there have been two events now. I'm suspicious of the crank sensor, i.e. no output would send the rev counter to zero and stop ignition. But it could equally be almost any other electrical glitch. I would just change the crank sensor, but I can't even see it! I know my eyesight is begining to fail but a it seems it would be a lot of work to change it on the off chance.
  13. A read of several post suggests that the EGR fault may well be due to a blockage where the EGR pipe enters the inlet side under the thottle body. Especially if the engine is using oil. So it may be worth taking the throttle body of and making an inspection in that area.
  14. Did you get anywhere with this? I seem to have a similar problem: http://www.briskoda.net/forums/fabia/1-4-aua-auto-2001-engine-cut-out/90999/ BTW there is no relay 109 on the 16v Fabia
  15. Driving at motorway speed yesterday the engine cut out and rev counter dropped to zero. This lasted for less than a second and then engine ran as normal and rev counter bounced back to previous reading. Grateful of any thoughts! 16. Yes it will. You don't actually need the CAN function for the Fabia but my advice is to get it anyway it will be more future proof and have a better secondhand value if you need/want to sell it later.
  17. Yes It may be, but other formats like PCM or variable freqency are used it depends which sensor you mean.
  18. 'k' line does not work between the ECU and sensors, it is (for VAG) purely a single wire line for serial communication between the various ECU's and a diagnostic scan tool.
  19. This info of any use?: Skoda Fabia Drivers Door warning LED
  20. If your driving at 11,000 RPM I'm surprised it hasn't blown up yet!
  21. Could try this UK supplier: USB ISO OBD-II / VAGCOM / AlfaDiag KKL Interface keywords [uSBVAGCOM] -
