  1. Hi My Yeti failed it's first MOT today. Drivers side whole headlight assembly is wobbly. Sure enough the whole unit feels a bit loose compared to the rock solid left handside. Obviously the local dealer wants £450+ just to order and fit a new whole Xenon and fog light assembly. I wanted to check it wasn't just an easily fixed broken bracket or similar (sadly the days of dealers doing repairs are gone!) Anyone had to remove a headlight and how did you do it? Bumper off job I assume, if so any tips....? thanks (I'm also asking dealer about warranty claim, it's 3 years old next month so still in warranty and never had a knock or impact)
  2. hhhhmmmm - my procedure is Take off dirty alloys + summer tyres and fit dirty alloys from last year + winter tyres on Put into garage Come spring Fit still dirty alloys back on again........ (I figure one mile of dirty road and you're back at square one anyway!)
  3. Hello All I'm looking to order a VRS estate and the info on here has been fantastic - much better than the useless brochures and old dinosaur dealers! On my Yeti Elegance the auto dimming interior rear view mirror also auto dims the drivers door mirror. I do a lot of night driving and now really like this feature. Does the VRS also have this as standard ? - no mention in the brochure or option on the configurator (only as part of the Elegance electric seats so not an option for the VRS) Thanks
  4. Thanks - I'm looking to order the same spec (ACC, power boot etc) but the petrol. Still can't decided blue or white though......
  5. ALL the options on the new A6 Allroad, especially: - hands free remote boot opening - adaptive cruise - night vision - LED main beam - biturbo engine - £6K audio system - HUD I spend my time on narrow B-roads and limited parking spaces, so I don't want a wider, 5m long estate, but I do want the toys!
  6. Well, the Skye website says plenty of Cafes and Bars ! - I must admit, I've never been to Skye but if I do go, the last thing I'll be doing is parking in a layby and getting out a 'coldish' can of drink from a coolbox all on my own........
  7. Why buy a coolbox? Bars and Restaurants normally serve food and drinks at the correct temperature........

    Yeti vs Tiguan

My brother in-law has a SE spec Tiguan. He was quite depressed when he borrowed my Elegance spec Yeti as it was soooo much better to drive and equipped........ (as he is a tight Yorkshireman)
  9. My local dealer certainly used the drain plug to empty the oil - and failed to tighten it properly so it leaked half the oil onto my drive overnight! (they did offer to clean my drive but appalling that the ONLY bolt they touch in a service wasn't torqued correctly, thankfully I spotted it just before we set off on a 6hr motorway drive with the family in the car....)
  10. If it's just 2 of us going cycling then we take the wheels and chuck 'em in the back ! (just fold the seats down, even if muddy I just use a picnic blanket (with a waterproof backing) over the folded seat). I have a fairly relaxed attitude to the interior of my car......
  11. I bought my Skoda purely for the car - at my local Skoda dealer it was like going back 20yrs with an old sexist dinosaur of a salesman who didn't know his ESP/options etc (I did feed this back via their email follow up questionnaire, never got a reply!). I also looked at a Q3, local Audi dealer and team far more professional but still didn't know the details of options I wanted. In the end I bought from a local independent who had some nearly new VAG vehicles in stock and knew his stuff too!
  12. I have the 1.8 and love it. Sounds like our uses are similar. My commute is mainly B-roads and the extra power really helps safely overtaking the trucks and dawdlers who would make a 30min trip over 1hr with their random braking on bends, thinking their car is 10ft wide and stopping for oncoming traffic etc.....! As a VRs owner checkout the EVO website. The 1.8TSi is one of their recommendations.
  13. Maybe somehow the 'unlock' button on your keyfob is being pressed down for a few seconds in a pocket or bag?
  14. I misread that as Peasants - I thought you had downgraded to the new Range Rover!
  15. I have 2 ISOFIX seats fitted (for a 3yr old and a 1yr old) on my Elegance. Initially I was concerned about the seats marking the leather. But as the kids have now trashed the rest of the car anyway (wee, poo, sick, ingrained food debris...) I've stopped looking at the damage! As long as they are safe, who cares about seats!!!
  16. Well, clearly poor revision control by Skoda! (Unless I have gone blind by too much other internet 'information'.......) My link: https://mediaportal.skoda-auto.com/resource/documentation/manuals/en/Yeti/05-2012/Manual/A-SUV_Yeti_OwnersManual.pdf
  17. I know I know, but my electronic .pdf manual doesn't show this info (even searching on H7 or Fog)! Maybe I should just stick to the old ways......
  18. Cheers - I'm using the .pdf version from the Skoda site and nothing in there. I'll have to dig out my paper copy ! How quaint.
  19. Perfect timing! My warning lamp and CHECK FRONT LEFT FOG LIGHT came on yesterday! I need to pick up a new bulb. Is it an H7? Of course the manual doesn't say!
  20. Same here. The security guards where I work wouldn't let me in until they had a full inspection of the Yeti ! (and the works car park has Audis, BMWs, Porsches, Ranger Rovers......) (and much more interest from neighbours and friends than my previous cars (owned or borrowed), Lexus, VW Tiguan, Jag XKR etc)
  21. Great video - thanks. Should be mandatory for all drivers to know how their car works and not dumbed down to a vehicle manual saying 'take to a dealer' for anything remotely interesting!
  22. As someone who used to work with automotive manuals - it would either have to printed out and be bound within the vehicle takt time (90 secs for a Yeti?) or multiple printers (eg 2 printers if it takes 180sec...) at the same cost as mass production of a common manual + the capex cost of the printer dedicated on a line and not absorbed by a 3rd party supplier using the print line for multiple customers.
  23. Due to risk of depression I stopped working out MPG and how much it actually costs me to drive in the country...... I now close my eyes at the pumps, cover my ears and say "nahanahanah" when the cashier tells me how much it is and just enter my PIN to pay......
  24. My 1.8TSi is saying 29.4 average MPG over several thousand miles of spirited driving on B-roads (however accurate that is, life's too short to manually do it everytime you fill up....!) . I looked at the Octavia Scout but you could tell it was an older platform vehicle. Recently I have had the option of a new company car, I looked at Q3/Q5/Tiguan/Golf 4Motion/Evoque/Kia etc. I didn't find one I liked more than the Yeti for the mix of size, versatility, performance and standard kit. So I've taken the cash instead!
