Don’t depend on the keyfob battery dash warning
My car was on the second key battery replacement and each time the dash would warn me it was low. I put a new battery in only 2.5 months ago. Saturday eve i went out to the car and nothing. No red light etc. i took the battery out and refitted and it started working again so i thought it might have been just a bad connection. Battery seemed clean and nice and tight. Two days later the key is still working fine but i noticed the red light that flashes stopped working. Checked the voltage on the key battery and it was too low. Replaced battery and all is fine again. Anyone else experience their battery fail without a dash warning? I obviously had a faulty one because it only lasted 2.5 months.

12 V battery is being discharged. Please start the engine.
I don’t think my 18 month old battery is the best. My tester keeps telling me to replace along with a reading of 58- 70% SOH ( depending on battery mood and temps) Everytime i go into diagnostics with the obd11 I’m welcomed with a lot of communication errors that keep returning . I also have seen a “ low voltage “ one. I do a lot of miles so the battery shouldn’t be low. The interesting part is if i didn’t have a tester or an obd11 i woild never know about the issue. Start stop works flawlessly, car cranks nicely and no errors ever on the dash.

My car is only 18 months old and has an entire energy throughput 8400 ah, not sure if that’s high? Your battery resistance is quite high if you have an EFB or AGM.

Battery change EFB or EFB+?
I wouldn’t say that was the original battery. Looks like a dealer replacement battery, part number begins with 000. The year is usually stamped on the negative post. That Yuasa battery will do the job.

Enroq vRS question
I’m a person that is very reluctant to buy an EV. The main reason is i do about 30,000 miles a year. To be honest i like my vRS diesel. But this EV has me fantasizing lol. However reviews mostly don’t seem great, putting me off a little. I’d like to hear from actual owner’s experience. Are they fast? Nice to drive etc? Does it do the range as advertised? My main concern is longevity, after 3 years i would have approx 90k on it. Will the battery have degraded much at 90k? Roughly on average how much do you save vs petrol/diesel?

Battery problem
Sorry i should have mentioned the 50-70% is for SOH not charge.

Battery problem
Yeah, i always make sure everything is shut down and take note of the soc. You can get a 100 amp difference if your soc is 12.45v vs 12.70. My battery is a 700 amp en. At 12.45v it reads 500 amps. At 12.6-7 it reads around 600 amps en ( good battery, recharge). Comparing to other batteries that are the same helps. A friend has the same battery in his VW but a year older. I tested both at the same voltage 12.45. Mine read 500 amps “ replace” and his read 636 amps “ good battery”. His engine and battery was cold but mine was hot with a warm battery.

Battery problem
Sometimes i wonder about battery testers. My 18 month old battery tests anything from 50%-70% ( depending on it’s mood) with a “replace” report. However it performs perfectly and so does the start stop.

Not feeling good about my vRS
Does it have OEM navigation? If so does it affect it?

Not feeling good about my vRS
Yeah, bought it brand new. Yeah works out every 2 months. There’s been a lot of debate recently of engine sludge due to 10k oil changes. Rings getting gummed up etc etc.

Not feeling good about my vRS
I have a 2024 ( 18 month old) vRS TDI. It only has 45k but feel like it’s done 200k. First problem was the touchscreen failed. Replaced under warranty. The GPS has an intermittent fault . The car thinks i’m driving across fields or i’m in a town miles away. I don’t think the dealer is too interested. No fault codes so nothing wrong. I sent them videos but no response. Also the headlight washers have now failed. I suspect the flywheel is starting to fail, i can hear it’s graunchiness at low speeds and while coming to a stop. That’s how my last car sounded before it had failed but it had 160k on it. I have a battery tester and while doing routine checks on our cars the tester keeps telling me to replace the vRS battery. Only 18 months old ffs. Oil consumption is a bit of a concern. At 3.5k the oil drops to halfway down the dipstick. All my other TDI’s never used any oil in 10k. My worry is it will damage the DPF with oil ash and no doubt just when the warranty is up. The car isn’t abused. Meticulously serviced, i change the oil every 5k.

GPS and carplay issue
Did you go back to the dealer?

GPS and carplay issue
Exact same issue. My car is a 2024 on the latest software.

GPS and carplay issue
I have a big european road trip coming up and of course the cars GPS has started giving an intermittent issue. It thinks i’m in another town 30 miles away . It will then work ok for a few days and then the fault returns. Any ideas? The other problem is that it affects carplay because google maps uses the cars GPS. Can the phone be set to use the phones GPS?

Headlight warning
My car has done this a few times April 24 model on the latest software . A restart resets it. Maybe cranking voltage drop causes it? My car does suffer from low cranking voltage at times. My battery tests ok.

Octavia IV LED matrix retrofit
Dealer only job? Car is only 11 months old, wonder why they have gone out of adjustment so soon.
-
Octavia IV LED matrix retrofit
I wouldn’t have bothered. My car came with them as standard. Cars constantly either flash me or put on their heads. They are horrendous.

Oil consumption question
My 10 month old RS diesel DTUA engine likes a drop of oil. After 3500 miles it’s half way down the dipstick. Yes i know it’s well in spec by VW but that’s just arse covering. I have never had a TDI use a drop of oil in 10k until now. Is this normal? The car has 25k on it. It has improved over time but still worrying. Will it improve or go downhill? My major concern is longterm damage to the DPF.

Tracking a new AGM car battery degredation over time [updates here]
My car is 8 months old and uses a EFB+ battery. my battery aging performance is down to 83% and my battery aging charged related is down to 80%. Maybe it’s not reliable.

Cranking voltage
I have one of those battery monitor devices that i used on my old car. I decided to put it on my 8 month old vRS. It regularly reports “!low cranking voltage”. I saw it drop to around 9v. Should it not drop below 9.6v? The car starts fine. No short journeys and it tests ok on my Topdon battery tester and has good voltage. Seems a bit odd? Unlikely a battery can be faulty after 8 months and 20k miles?

KESSY issue since update to 1985
My 2024 vRS had an issue with locking through the drivers door handle via kessy. No problem with the other handles. Waving the foot wasn’t working either intermittently. So far 1985 has sorted it.

Start stop status
Does the mkiv have a menu anywhere for start stop status? My old passat had and would give reasons for not working like “ power consumption high” engine must be running “ etc etc

2024 MD1CS004 ecu
With respect i never asked about warranty advice. I have remapped every new car i have bought for the last 22 years and never had to claim any warranty or suffered any failure due to a remapp. I always put 200k on my cars too. . But thanks for your reply.
