  1. I have some Jom coil overs. For the price you can't beat them, had them on since October and compared to standard suspension they are amazing. Took about a month to bed in and even out, ok so now you drive Down a road and go up and down with every dip - not violently but you feel connected to the road, before corners at 40-50 were done at your own risk now you can add another 30 mpg depending on corner. Understeer gone and it just feels so much better. For the price of 195 quid delivered + the drop links you can't go wrong imo!
  2. just orderd some new headlight dipped beam and also some new W5W sidelights, in the next few weeks i will be looking into forge FMIC, SMF and uprated clutch as i look for 200BHP along with a different turbo, but for now im having the cambelt change done at 142 k along with a full service and some body work touch ups.
  3. I'm going to get my volt meter on it this morning to see how much it's holding. I think I will change glow plugs at same time, cars on 142k still on standard glow plugs to the best of my knowledge
  4. That's interesting about the battery, on a cold morning my car seems a bit reluctant to put life into the engine however once it's been Started for the rest of the day it's fine, also iv had the car 13 months ish and iv gone through I would say 3-5 bulbs, can't say I kept a record however it's something I was a bit like hmm only just replaced a bulb now another ones one etc etc I was using halfords "super brilliance " or what ever shower of **** they call it and they aren't cheap
  5. I used a knife and force, it didn't matter what the knife was digging into as it's covered by the badge plus I was taking it off to sand and primer the grill bit for colour coding
  6. There seems to be plenty of kits on eBay at the moment. Im tempted by a smf as iv already replaced the clutch and dmf once. Wincing at the thought of doing it again!!!
  7. Mucked that one up! Yeah as I was asking is that a trackday at colerne?
  8. I had falken 912 I think they were. 4brand new tyres lasted me a month. Ok cars lowered and tracking was out but 2k miles and the insides were shredded. The tyres were as soft as poo I now have yokohoma s.drive done 1k miles still look brand new, and very good in wet and dry, don't think they are bank breaking either, the ride is so much better now. I'm not going anywhere near falkens ever again I would much rather drive around on my disk breaks. They would last longer and be a smother ride!!
  9. one way to drop you premium is to have it in your name and have both your parents as names drives took 2k off my premium, as both my parents use my car at times it seemed logical, i didnt know there was a financial benefit until after however DO NOT have the car in your parents name when you are the named drive you will get screwed! i had a road traffic officer pull me over and ask for my name, to which i obliged, and then he went on to go on about how its not my car and the insurance isnt in my name yada yada yada and how my insurance company would be so happy to know i was driving the car around as my main car when i supposidly wasnt the named driver, his smugness and complete c**tishness dissapeared when i pulled out my insurance documents with my name, and the vc5 in, guesss whatt .... my name!! would have thought the on board computer would have corrected this monkey ..... oh how wrong i was! looked even more sheepish when i started to take details of the incident when he refused to give me a stop notice taking down badge numbers, times, roads, registration number etc. i then went on my merry way back to the police station to make a formal complaint being young and having a nice car is not an excuse to be pulled over, its what you can get by having two jobs and working all the hours! i was doing 47mph in a 50mph zone so eratic driving was not an issue either. sorry to go off on a tangent i fully support the police, i work side by side with them in the leisure industry but they need to get the bumholes out!!! in my rant i also forgot to mention (the only bit of real use) i switch between admiral and elephant because they are the cheapest and also under cut each other
  10. Compomotive th 1680 mono with Yokohama s.drive 195 45 16 Wheels 16 x 8j 5x100 pcd Et 25
  11. +1 on both the console bush replacement and drop link replacement. I went and changed the bushes, the sounds got better but didn't dissapear. Got coil overs and replaced the drop links and hey presto no more knocking !!! Hooraaahhh
  12. I was with admiral then phoned elephant who was going to undercut them by 975 quid so I phoned admiral back up and they took my 2300 a year fully comp insurance down to 1200 ish. Win!!!!
  13. +1 to the Jom coil overs I got mine from DPM along with the up rated drop links and a front strut brace and I have to say for the price there easy to fit and great. Corners at 50+ in the wet a breeze now. Lack of roll and the car feels planted. Alsoget a 4 wheel lazer alignment to make sure your running straight and true and you won't believe the difference that the new set up makes!!!
  14. when i next have a tyre change i may consider this however hopefully my tyres wont burn out this quick ...... i had a brand new set of falkens 912's i think at end of november, by end of dec they were all bold on the inside ( it was munching front tyres like it was no ones business) these wheels come up with brand new tyres so instead of buying four new tyres to replace the falkens i spent a bit more and got the alloys. NGL i have a thing for the compomotives, i always have and im not shamed to admit it o.0 so what more could i want .... a set of wheels iv always dreamed of with new tyres and a nice bit of stretch .... or 3points for each bold tire, a fine and a loss of driving licence. i have since had 4 wheel laser alignment which highlighted a few um issues, that have now been corrected and hey presto a month of driving (about 1.5-2k miles) the tyres still look new with no uneven wear. hoorahhhhhhhhh
  15. its not really a replica more a half rep. the worst thing they missed was changing the front bumper.
  16. Just seen where it's suppose to go. What plonker done that I wonder?!?! I'm not sure wether to leave it, put it in the right place or take it off all together?
  17. My initials are BMR. It was my 18th birthday present from my beloved parents apparently I needed a kiss? I'm getting some pressed german style plates for it soon. I was never really a fan of the euro look but well...... I guess things change and as for the badge I never noticed that before!!! Great observation skills I will look it up now to see where it's supposed to go, but then I also didn't notice that I had a knife sticking out my arm once until it was pointed out by the police after an attack ...... So yeah im not really that observant o.0
  18. thought i would put a few pics up of my little run around. now i know it wont all be to everyones taste but hey-ho! i brought the car back in dec 2009 with 120ish k on the clock, its now just over 142k and the car hasnt missed a heartbeat (touch wood). i must confess i have a bit of an addiction to modifying my car (the car went from standard to what now is shown before you in under 2 weeks!!) spec as follows 160bhp re map jom coil overs front strut brace smoked indicators front color coded grill (done since pictures taken) led interior lights and number plate lights white compomotive th 1680 with yokohoma s drive 195 45 16 tyres soon to come modifications include arch rolling full cloth re trim on interior full polybush from front to back F&R ARB braided break lines FMIC re map to 190ish BHP upgraded clutch bigger turbo that is all i can think of for now. i will stand back and admire my car others may dislike it so hence why its a bit like marmite, each to their own right?! hopefully see some of you briskodians on my travles but for now i will be giving my marmite a much needed full service and a bit of tlc as new mods are made i will update enjoy Ben
  19. Is the car high mileage? You might just find the shocks and springs& shocks might have gone past their best and buying brand new original units might solve your issue. My cars on Jom coilovers and dropped a fair bit but it's my daily drive where I cover anything from 30+ miles a day in it. I like the ride of the joms but can imagine they aren't for everyone, you feel the road under you, every dip bump etc all in a good way because your car feels planted and safe Regards Ben
  20. It all comes down to many factors, what height your running your car at, tyre size, alloy width. I'm on Jom coil overs with a tasty drop running 16 x 8j alloys et25 with 195 45 16 and they can rub at points, 17's seem to fit ok and 18"s seem to be extreme however it takes a nutter to start a trend :p but yeah the bigger the wheel the lower the profile you will need, stretching the tyre will help too and also stiffen the ride at the same time
  21. finally i got around to posting! i have been a member for a few months now after finding this forum second to none for anything skoda, after trawling many forums i have found none as friendly as this one. anyway the reason i am here is because i made a decision to go from a petrol guzzler to an oil burner, thus ending up with a 2003 (53) Fabia VRS Black Magic with just over 120k on the clock when i brought it in Dec 2009, after 1 year and 20k of problem free driving i have decided to post a few pics up with my hello section. the car wont be to everyones taste but each to their own right?! quick spec as follows: 160bhp re map JOM coilovers - not to everyones taste but £195 for the set all in i have had no complaints with them as yet (been on car 4 months) 16x8j compomotive TH1680 with 195/45/16 Yokohoma S.drive tyres (been amazing so far) colour coded front grille (done since pictures were taken) front strut brace a few more mods in the pipeline but they will be revealed in due course.
