  1. I have a feb 2012 vrs with Bluetooth and I have used iphone 4/4s and now 5. 4 and 5 both work absolutely fine but I did have a number of issues with the 4s
  2. The code for the Columbus is stored in the car itself and not just the radio so you should not need the code
  3. Hi Do a forum search on this - I seem to remember reading a couple of threads about it and think the outcome. Was that a rattling noise on a cold start up was common and normal ( but not positive)
  4. Is there anyone near Swindon with vcds who would be willing to activate this on my Feb 2012 vrs please?
  5. Skodapeter - I had a similar situation when I bought my car. Dealer said he didn't have the code. I used words similar to yours about I have bought and paid for it and had a legal right to have the code provided. Funnily enough it turned out they had "interrogated" the system as part of the PDI. Heck and an hour later I had the four digit code. If I were you I would go back to the dealer and have a similar discussion and not back off until you are given the code. Which you have bought (with the bolero)
  6. In addition to the Octy VRS me and the better half have the pleasure of: Focus ST3 Suzuki Jimny soft top Honda VFR800 Piaggio MP3 250 Something for every occasion and weather type :-)
  7. Yep always push for more, there is always room for negotiation. I played three dealers against each other and achieved a very good deal on a factory order vrs.
  8. I had original Skoda sat nav(Columbus) and Bluetooth fitted by a small company called Hazzydayz. Was all original OEM kit and fully guaranteed for three years. Not the cheapest (but way cheaper than a Skoda dealer) and they did an excellent job Bernie
  9. I doubt you would get a decent finish doing it that way - especially with that lovely colour (I have the same colour on my pride and joy). Why not consider going to a professional who cold either touch up the paint or use a professional polishing compound. I have used things like chips away or similar before with brill results.
  10. Similar circumstances and I just renewed mine with quote me happy for £210 incl legal and protected NCB and only£200 excess. My previous insurer wanted double that. May be worth a look ?
  11. I may be wrong but I think if you want the sat nav version for an Octy and you want OEM then you need to look at the Columbus - that's the one with Sat Nav. I have just recently replaced my Bolero with a Columbus. Both are in my opinion great units, the main difference between the two is that the Colubus has sat nav and a built in HD to store music on etc and will also play DVDs
  12. I would be the same - only OEM for me to
  13. Hi, as far as I am aware the MDI does not come as standard. It was certainly an additional optional extra on my Feb 2012 vRS Cheers Bernie
  14. My thoughts on your comments 1)DVD - yes 2) tv in motion - only if you have a TV tuner/receiver fitted. Video in motion is possible ( but not standard) and is not recommended - illegal in a lot of countries and also very dangerous to have a DVD playing whilst you are driving !!! 3) split screen - will that work ? - as far as I know the split screen function only applies to navigation and nothing else 4) can I get the compass atleast on the maxidot ? - personally I don't know (I don't have maxi dot) 5) camera support for Reverse - reverse camera can be fitted and Columbus screen will support this if fitted and coded correctly
  15. Bolero are out there but as they are not that common they are not that cheap. If you can get a Columbus cheap then maybe it would be worth while getting one and not having the navigation and just use it as a stereo system ?
  16. in my opinion no - it is a great system but I would not pay the extra for one if I couldn't use the naigation - would go with a Bolero
  17. Sorry but to be honest I have no idea if it would fit or not
  18. No not a main dealer I used a company called "hazzydayz". Not the cheapest out there but all the kit was brand new, ordered specifically for my car. First class installation, including the new trim that is required. All fully coded to my car and full demo of everything before I left. Install did of course include latest maps etc and everything fully guaranteed for three years (I had Columbus, OEM Bluetooth, voice control and video in motion all done at the same time. I got a "package deal" which I negotiated. Would rather not share the price as it all comes down to personal negotiation. Give them a try - you never know - I was certainly very happy with the deal and the work done and will go back there again if I decide I want anything else adding :-)
  19. Enjoy and you won't regret it- they are brilliant !!
  20. Can be fitted DIY but as I wanted to be sure I had mine fitted for me as I also had OEM Bluetooth fitted at the same time. Plus added voice control and video in motion - as you can probably tell I am very happy with it :-) Also meant I got a full three year warranty on everything ;-)
  21. I have Skoda front and rear parking sensors on mine and everything integrates just fine
  22. I vote for the Columbus(with latest maps and software). Put one in my Octy and think it is brilliant for all the reasons big man states and a lot more Seemless integration with Bluetooth for my phone (can all be controlled from the touch screen), Bluetooth streaming and ful integration with the car Add voice control and it gets even better Love it
  23. I would say definitely worth swapping - I did in my Octy and personally think it I'd really good. I also added. Once control which makes it a doodle to use for all features. It is however down to personal choice and preference (and yes you can play DVDs when stationary)
