  1. Eddie - does fitting/installing this require any vcds coding ? Mfsw is higher on my priority list (if I can find one for my vrs) but this seems like a good deal and might consider it if it doesnt need coding
  2. Good selection of kit but unfortunately poindland is your enemy. I could all that locally for half the price your asking. GLWS
  3. Have heard that these are good kits and was nearly tempted for our runaround but then couldnt justify spending that much on a "nice to have" in an old runarond. GLWS
  4. Had a Columbus, OEM bluetooth, voice control and some other little tweaks fitted to my VRS by these guys just after I bought my car. They did an outstanding job of fitting the kit I wanted and at a competitive price. About a month ago my bluetooth started playing up and wouldnt work. I contacted Gareth and the team down at Hazzydayz and have to say that the after sales sevice was bloody brilliant. No hassle, no quibble and very supportive. The talked me through all the things I could try myself in an attempt to reset it but unfortunately none of these worked. They were going to come out to me to test and repair it but as I was going down near where they are based I said I would go to them. Arrived at the agreed time, was instantly greeted with a nice cup of coffee and made to feel welcome. They removed the bluetoth box, put it on their test lab, couldnt reload the firmware to make it work and then without hesitation simply installed a brand new unit. Like I said, no hassle, no quibble fantastic after sales customer service. They may not be the absolute cheapest out there but are very competitive and use nothing but original OEM kit. In my opinion their standard of work and the way they care for your car is second to none. From my personal experience I can't reccommend these guys highly enough. Been absolutelt fantastic.
  5. Was very interested in these until i saw you are in Harrogate. Wilts to Harrogate is unfortunately a bit far
  6. Did you ever get to the bottom of this and sorted ? If yes what was the problem/cure please ?
  7. Have a look at these guys http://hazzydayz.com/--skoda-21-c.asp I had my Columbus supplied and fitted by them and received an excellent service. They do columbus repairs etc as well
  8. How have you ruled out the tyres and wheels ? Symptoms sound like either tyre pressures, wheel balancing or possibly alignment. Have you had all these checked ?
  9. I had my columbus fitted after I had bought the car and get free map updates for three years (length of time the columbus is covered by warranty) as part of the deal. As gar as I am aware not many Skoda main dealers have yet got V10 maps - no idea why not but ......
  10. Hi Have also been running v10 maps on my columbus for a while. Easy to install, simply turn unit on, insert DVD, follow any on screen prompts you might get (some do and some don't depending on SW version) and wait for it to do its thing. Once you get the message saying completed eject disc and jib done
  11. Ahem cough cough. I have a petrol Octy Vrs and a Focus ST3 on the drive. The drive is neither in front of a council house or a bungalow. I love both cars.
  12. I am aware og a number of people having had the badges changed under warranty. Woild suggextbthat you visit a dealer and ask (woidnt wait till a service is due)
  13. Hazzydayz provided and installed the columbus in my vRS (along with bluetooth at the same time). My experience of Gareth and his team is that they are excellent and provide a first class service. From personal experience i can not sing their praises enough.
  14. Installing new maps is I am pleased to say a very simple process. Once you have purchased a disk then it is simply a case of turning the unit on, popping the disk into the drive, follow any on screen prompts (some units ask if you want to copy the data to the hard drive and some just do it) then sit and wait. Takes around 45mins to an hour to load. I personally have updated my maps twice now, v8 to v9 and more recently v9 to v10 with no issues at all. Only official sources of map discs are Skoda or VW dealers and prices seem to vary across dealers. Have even heard of some dealers installing the latest version for free ! I wasn't insinuating that you are or should be scared of doing a firmware update in any way at all - was just trying to help as there are quite a few who have "bricked" there system with incompatible firmware/hardware combinations. As Ned so nicely put it, potential pain for very little gain but as always it's a personal choice.
  15. There are others on here far more knowledgeable than me but from what I have read on other posts if you upgrade the firmware then you will need to reinstall the maps. Your firmware isn't really that much out of date. I have a Octy vRS and have just upgraded to firmware 5238 which did to give me radio text - to be honest if you already have 7 digit postcode input and all you want to upgrade for is radio text then personally I don't think its worth it. It is VERY basic, so much so I have turned it off again. I have also installed v10 maps (previously had v9), haven't really travelled much though to notice if they are a great improvement or not. Upgrading firmware can be risky and certain versions can actually damage certain hardware versions (sorry I can't list which ones are compatible and which not). From reading your post I would suggest considering just upgrading to the latest maps you can get hold of and leave the firmware as it is - that way everything stays/keeps working as you have now. Just my personal thoughts - if it ain't broke don't try and fix it !!
  16. As your car is still under warranty I would take it back and get them to fully check the electrical/charging system
  17. I would also be interested to know more about this and how if possible please ?
  18. I used to use a road angel plus. Personally thought it was a great piece of kit. Quite small when fitted and I always found it to be very accurate. Only downside is a monthly subscription charge (I think it was something like £2.99 a month). Not used it for a while though and stopped my subscription, no point in paying a monthly fee when it just sits in my cupboard now. I don't think they make the plus anymore now though and only do more "bulky" units.
  19. FoM your description it sounds like you have the Bolero. As above Columbus is the OEM say nave for the Octavia vRS and as per adamal I also think they are excellent.
  20. I got one with my Octy vRS, but that was two years ago now
  21. Not sure what you have got on your car but it could be because the steel wheel has a different tyre size fitted than that of your alloys. Nothing to do with the actual wheel itself but more to do with the combination of wheel and tyre sizes.
  22. I have a 3TO......... B unit and went from firmware version 3974 to 5238 without any problems
  23. My maxidot comment was more to do with checking the service interval as I am not sure if it is different or not
  24. Can't advise on the radio but to check the sevice interval on my Octavia vRS I need to twist the bottom knob to the left and not push in as you have described above. Should add that my car does not have maxidot (and I have no idea if that makes a difference)
  25. No mine isn't DAB. My firmware came from the company that supplied my Columbus (part of the service with their three year warranty) but they only supply for customers who have purchased the columbus from them. Whilst watching the screen during the update it did look for DAB but of course did nothing when it didn't find it
