  1. @Johnboy16 It is usefully when posting if you say manual or DSG. Then when people are comparing cars if they do not say they are the same engine we might assume they are, but what a 2018 or a 2021 model does does not mean a 2023 model is the same. They change Software / Engine Management.
  2. @Routemaster1461 Good stuff and as it should be. There should have been no issue in the first place and really all they needed was a keyboard and a screen and a tongue in their head to sort it out. AI can do it these days.
  3. If the Range Rover Discovery on fire happened before the new V5 issued for the Audi then that would make sense.
  4. We are not talking TDI though. TDI Cam Belt and Water pump different. And that change from VW Group for the UK was being more inline with other Dust Free Countries / Regions. It was long overdue after dealers taking the p!th with customers. Truth of the matter, Skoda / VW Group Dealers had 50,000 mile plus used cars for sale without the Cam Belt changed, and more and more customers not paying £900,£1,200 quid, just trading cars in.
  5. What has that to do with the price of bread? Or EV fires? Are we sure that is not an electrified car, as in a PHEV? Or sure it is a diesel. I am wondering about the various EV fires recently in the UK and not totally burnt out vehicles, and no Dumpster Truck / Skips to immerse the vehicle in.
  6. ? Where does 100,000 km / 62,000 miles come into it from?
  7. In the nearly 13 years, there must be something new happening.
  8. ? Is there some issue for you because the car is trying to save fuel or actually emmisions. Press the accelerator and the car will go, put the shifter back to S and it will hold the gear to a higher rpm. You are not getting to disable the ACT regardless of what mode you are in. What is the point, no idea, but the point of what you have now is they had it the way it is for the WLTP.
  9. 250 miles range needs 5 miles a kWh average and 100% - 0%. Perfect weather and not averaging 4 miles a kWh is not even 200 miles range. So lets consider the 50 x 3.7 miles maybe in UK in not the coldest weather, people in the car wanting to be comfortable and not steamed up and really 185 miles.
  10. You must be in 2 cylinder mode are you not, foot off the accelerator or light pressure and no load on the engine. Your car can deactivate the cylinders regardless of the mode you are in. ACT / Active Cylinder Technology.
  11. I know there is no hidden message. Just a video telling of issues, and the regulators and authorities need to pay attention, or people Just Say No. Save me from nasty peoducts. @Graham Butcher The links did not work until they then did work. Sometimes you need to give me time. Unlike Fires, action / speed is essential. Some EV car fires are getting dealt with much quicker than others.
  12. ^^^ What is the message? is it do not go to North America, and if you do then do not drive or ride in a TESLA. BBC, 19 hours ago. We are doomed. People are having lucky escapes so far in the UK, unless there have been deaths.
  13. I am never surprised at how so many have eyesight good for driving, but for reading or close up really need large print and large symbols on buttons, switches and dash boards. Many need reading glasses in the top of their head for when they need to see stuff from their driving position. As to EV charging, the same goes with EV Chargers and not easy to read or see, then there is the not user friendly with cables and not pretty heavy cables tethered. There is a huge difference between user friendly. able bodied, disabled, infirm, wheel chair or crutch users. Some Designers / Architects think disabled friendly are dropped kerbs, some do not realise that once a charger is plugged in or started the user might need to go around the back of it.
  14. Your fuel guage indication is lovely. Not all cars or vans have that. Not the same thing as that I posted clearly . It was not really for you. Not comparing to ICE vehicles. This is the EV section. It is quite the same as EV,s are. Relevent really to those taking about EV,s and charging. Many positions not great with right hand drive cars. Front position charge port is easy for many folks. As long as the charger port flaps do not freeze closed. Not the same thing as what. ICE vehicles? This is the EV section. It is quite the same as EV,s are. Relevent really to those taking about EV,s and charging. Many positions not great with right hand drive cars. Front position po retry easy for many folks. As long as the charger port flaps do not freeze closed. PS east enough for manufacturers to flash on the screen where a driver needs to look to plug in the charger. Some EV,s likely have that. Once you know you know really, eyes, common sense, memory, combine them.
  15. Welcome for your short visit. This has a lot to do with communications with Skoda / VW Group UK, Pathetic Customer Services and after sales.
  16. A Mk2 Kodiaq. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/527540-rejecting-my-iv Skoda / VW Group yet again are taking the p1th, getting the vehicles sold and first registered and the new keeper is made to waste time to get a vehicle fit for purpose. Charge them the same rate as their workshops if you have to go into them. or have Skoda UK get Technicians mobile and out to you. They did it with the Emissions fix. Hit them in the pocket. This crowd are just ridiculous as far as Customer Services and after sales.
  17. A few years ago Australia offered the 1.4 TSI without ACT and with an 8 Speed Aisin Torque converter auto, (Also available in North America and other world regions.) Where they have actual emissions as are, and not cheated as in the EU for a Worldwide Harmonised light vehicle test procedure. Rest of the world not stupid. PS When there was a Global Recall on DQ200 DSG,s in 2012 that did not include Europe as not part of the Globe. In some countries including China they had to extend the Warranty to 10 years / 100,000 miles. Warranties in Australia are or were 5 years. There have been 3 recalls on DQ200 DSG,s in Australia 2009-2016 VW Group. No surprise then for a traditional Auto. Now VW,s problem growing is the poor longevity of DQ381,s. I expect in North America , Australia etc the courts will tear VW a new hole.

What is the point of your post? Do you not call who local to you that collects scrap cars and gives you money, or at least does not charge you. Or advertise it locally, but like you say 'who would want it'. Maybe just some kid who lives on a farm and has someone to come get the car.
  19. @Graham Butcher there are so many reasons that people are not considering an EV be it new or used. Lots of the reasons might be any of the things that are discussed in this thread. There seems to be people that they suit and they can get their heads round how they work and how they will charge them. As it is now if they get one and need to charge out and about they have little choice to get with it kind of quick. But it is a case of keep calm and carry on, and if the Government want to price you off the road then just pay up.
  20. You can not go back and simplify what was before can you? You just need to look at the model from which year and what it is. Now it is pretty simple in the UK. Unless you are landed with a pretty new Renault with only AC charging no DC. Which happens.
  21. @davidbird got the never used oil between services, i assume Oil & Filter services. ? How often were these services since it apparently did only 1,000 miles in 4-5 years?
