  1. I suppose the experiences in Wiltshire, Fife and Aberdeenshire over the past years is never going to be like Continental Europe. Or maybe pretty much like lots of it. Cars and power trains and going to be of one kind or another before 2040. We will see what we see. Well I won't. Felt like frost bite at times when I used to run Land Rovers on LPG and filled up. 6 years ago.
  2. ?what are you asking, is it about rear seats?
  3. When we read company history and I just did it is often the case no matter who was and is the front the money is Yen, or Dollar or whatever Qatar or other oil rich countries are trading in. The GBP hold not much value in the corporate world and any UK companies might well be trading partners as long as they are useful. The biggest retail oil supplier in the world could well be Amazon. Or Ebay, or maybe just in hooky oil.
  4. @Crasher Is that Royal Dutch Shell? They will all have to choose what they invest in other than Oil & Gas, or bio products. Are others not going to be retailing to the public as the vehicles become more available again? ?? What is it that is not going to happen and where, is it in England where the Electricity needs bought in? There are still surpluses that the National Grid does not buy to sell. The Hydrogen Hubs are past planning and are being built in Scotland for Low Carbon Transport Hubs and deliveries, HGV,s etc. Cars are built and more will get built. Scary that the working on Hydrogen Car trained technicians in Aberdeen work for Arnold Clark, if ever there were to be an accident / incident then it would be vehicles they maintain at the highest risk...
  5. So it is the VW Group and for decades it was a CASTROL sticker, and a bottle of CASTROL oil, and dealers using Quantum. German Engines be it BMW, VW Group, Daimler Benz (maybe a Renault Engine) are about the worst out of warranty for a premature demise. French Manufacturers might recommend Total, Japanese MOBILE. I am happy with COMMA,s engine and other oils,. He who has the biggest Advertising Budget or Manufacturers recommendation need not be the best, maybe sometimes just more expensive for the general buying public. Like Tyres VW Group use. Have Pulling to the left and they might blame Dunlop or Continental, funny thing is that never stops them using them. With the Mk3 1.4 TDI 3 Cylinder Water Pump failures they blamed the Coolant. The Coolant the procured.
  6. Fuchs oil UK ltd. Quantum oils as used by Skoda Dealers and supplied by TPS is fine. I doubt many companies are UK owned. To VW 508 00 / 509 00 so the 0w 20 FS IV for fixed or variable oil and filter cha Or as we were VW 504 00 / 507 00, 0w 30 FS III, or 5w 30 FS III. Fixed service could be VW502 00. 5w 40 FS. But Skoda UK never shows this now. Brand might as well be Asda or Tesco as long as to the spec. It comes from synthetic oil producers.
  7. What matters is who put their name to the letter.. plenty around with Skoda UK or Dealerships that have not a clue.
  8. BEV,s are a whole different kettle of fish. Fitted with heat pumps or not. Plenty bev,s can be pre heated or pre cooled before ever getting in the car. As to the interior temp of cars cooled down. 14*oC is really quite cool for many. As to AC working and cooling an interior, it is a very different amount of cooling needing from 34 degrees C down to 14 degrees, compared to 24 down to 14. And keeping that 20 degrees reduced temp. @Blue8793841 what kind of dealership do you work in? And are people not trained on working on EV,s allowed to do work on them?
  9. Clutch packs are covered under the manufacturers terms and conditions with DSG,s. So best read your warranty and then get the car in for a diagnosis with an Authorised Repairer.
  10. Simples, unless an employer forces you to be driving an EV then do not if you do not want to. If Self Employed so your own boss then just say no, unless you want to be filming yourself and talking about charging times, or getting a nice car and tax breaks to be driving a BEV. Leaving the house and going to do your job filming, setting up, messing about and taking a lot more time than the charging actually takes. (get plugged in before wandering off for a drink that costs about 10 kWh of electricity and you have just left the house...) 30 pence a kWh. 100 kWh = £30. Taking you 300 miles. if even just 3 miles a kWh. 350 if 3.5 miles a kWh. 50 mpg vehicles and 350 miles, 7 gallons @ £6.82 = £47.74 45 mpg & 350 miles , 7.7 gallons = £52.51
  11. They are never going to recommend putting it in manual 1st and holding on the parking brake and not the foot brake then floor it and make it shift up automatically without you doing it. Not all do it and with the 1.0tsi probably not worth bothering anyway. Or just not with your own car, do it with a demonstrator.
  12. A farse at the Open Golf at Troon. Diesel generators providing charging at a farm out of town for the Official vehicles, players and VIP transport by BEV,s. EDIT, my bad. HVO powered generators. Bio-diesel. Waste products and feed stock. So very very Green.
  13. Not busy. Empty at airport and all working. Always an idiot takes the end bay and stops that being used by those needing that when the chargers are all occupied. 58 pence a kWh. Empty.
  14. He is a 'martyr' suffering as he does doing so many miles and charging and filming just so that he can save us from having to. What a hero he is doing his job as a film maker. Obviously the car and the expense of running it for his business has no help from HMRS / Tax Payers. , ???? What kind of readings do you get in a house or building with one of the things he is using?
  15. Aberdeen's hydrogen busses, bin lorries, vans and cars have not been in any explosions, nor the Fleet in Fife that has been running for years now. In Aberdeen there are 2 filling hubs for hydrogen vehicles already and boats / ships in the harbour run stuff on hydrogen. A year ago. This Week. This year.
  16. @lol-lol BP / Aberdeen's plan is Solar farms being built for the electricity for this Hydrogen plant along with the other renewables generated electricity of which there is a lot. PS. Tim Shaw of Car SOS was on radio Scotland yesterday morning doing a Car Clinic. When asked about EV,s he told his story of meeting Lord Bamford and taking about what being a Billionaire is like. Lol. Lord Banford seemingly said that he spoke about his friend Mr Toyota and that Hydrogen Hybrids were where it was at. Never heard him say he mentioned his son and his hydrogen projects, bus company, millions of tax payers and investors money ...
  17. When Skoda built a new plant and increases the number of DQ200,s that they built for the VW group in 2015 they said they were used in 48 applications. That is models with power output from 75ps to 192 ps, petrol, diesel, and now mild hybrids. I would think the cost of producing pretty much the same gearbox from 2008- 2024 and not yet come up with a new version has been good value. What a pity VW can not put a 10 year warranty on a product with no service schedule or maintenance regime. Well other than that had to in 2012 in the like if China because they c0cked up.

@Blue8793841 Have you actually had Crossclimate, Crossclimate + or CrossClimate 2 or SUV,s and had wear? Maybe look in the tyre section, there are plenty threads covering all of these Crossclimate types.
  19. 92*oC as an indicated oil temperature is quite normal with a 1.0 TSI 3 Cylinder at speeds like around 50-60 mph even in ambient temps of the high 20,s. Rising to over 110, and higher under load and at speed. The temperature indicated on the car is not exactly accurate. Flat out in hot weather i would not expect an indicated 140*oC. So something is wrong. Is the Oil quantity enough? Checked at Normal Operating Temperature. As in around 90*oC.

They are hardly aggressive, just really rather effective as All Season tyres and even work well on wet roads & not a hit on the fuel economy. These are aggressive yet quiet and not causing less efficiency.
  21. @Blue8793841 I would not concern yourself with GPF regens. Those posting with issues were asking about High Idle Speeds and the car running on and them needing to use the brakes. Covid years, lots of cold start short trip type of use. (Similar to what a DPF does not like.) These have been 1.0 TSI,s. Fabia Mk3 & Octavia Mk3 as far as i have ever read and responded to.
  22. @Kamiqaze06 Welcome. Useful if you said were you are and what sort of temperatures /weather. United Arab Emirates being rather different from Ireland, sort of thing. The temp should be at --- before getting to near the indicated 50*oC then to the 92*oC and rising and when things are working right bring the oil back down lower. As an aside. ......................... re GPF,s. Clearing them is different from a DPF.
  23. It would be too many gears dropped when it gets to needing to 5th, or 4th if you want to actually boot it and get a move on. Anyway as Skoda (VW) call them. S-A (Semi Automatic). You have a gear shifter, you can use it. Or paddles. There is kick down, there is even if you need, 'double kickdown'. Lovely with a 1.4 TSI twincharger, or even the Polo GTI 1.8 TSI DSG with 192 ps. With the Twincharger you are down to below 3,500 rpm, even 2,800 rpm and gave Turbo & Supercharger in 3rd.
  24. A Euro 6 engine that had it,s own Coolant / Water Pump issues as per the pinned thread in this section.
