New or improved hubs announced, Government EV Loans in Scotland and free & no longer free public charging places..
I spotted an error this week with Electroverse when checking for new chargers & reported this to them. They have Angus Council chargers which are used with CPS as 40 pence AC and 65 pence DC, but they are 55 pence a kWh regardless of AC 7,11, 22, 43 or 50 DC chargers. PS @wyx087 Bettyhill Carpark Thurso KW14 7SP is 35 pence a kWh 22 kW AC & 70 pence a kWh with CPS.

Tyre size and effects
The Chinese manufacturers Goodride i fitted or the Serbian manufactured Tigar tyres (Michelin Owned) BUDGET tyres were a treat on the Fabia vRS with over 200 bhp / DSG compared to te OEM Dunlop Sport Maxx or Pirelli Zero Skoda fitted. & 215/40 R 17 as VW, SEAT & Audi fitted to the Sister Twincharger cars where as Skoda Fitted 205/40 R17,s.

Is the Karoq 1.5 DSG any good
- Tyre size and effects
@Mikey_au Kerb Weight 1,400 kG. XL Tyres. The thing is there is theory then practice and practical. So now on 195,s and 16". Simply because there is location location location and the state of the roads driven. The New more powerful MINI,s from China (GWM,s) are on 225/18" tyres. (1,600 kG kerb weight) & wheel spinning on the ECO bias tyres and the Media Spin is the Wheel spin is there to give back the driving experience. The usual guff really. It is too much torque through front wheel drive tyres with crap tyres for the job, wide and sticky can be OK when dry or dry and warm, wide with All Season Treads can be, but narrower and with the tread and compound can work perfectly. 205 / 17's All Seasons & now 195 / 16'S All Seasons.- Tyre size and effects
My Mini Cooper S Electric came on 205/45 R 17 Goodyear Eagle F1 Supersport. Ridiculous tyres for use on a wet road, and for a cold wet road total ditchfinders. There are plenty Chinese manufactured tyres that perform better than OEM tyres fitted to VW group cars, Dunlop, Continental, Pirelli, Michelin etc etc.- New or improved hubs announced, Government EV Loans in Scotland and free & no longer free public charging places..
- Correct Tyre Pressure?
^^^ The size and tyre that was often the Spare Wheel / Tyre for Fabias. While Skoda called it a Space Saver it was just a standard tyre and steel wheel. Speed & Load rating and pressures. Really a saver of space rather than a Space Saver.- At last, an Electric car I can be genuinely excited about!
Thankfully! Prices and stuff that is rather important....- Used Skoda Octavia Estate 1.4 SE 2013 70kmilage versus 2014 Skoda Octavia Estate Elegance 2014 104k. What do the people think?
The reliability of these 10 plus year old 1.4 TSI,s has been well proven so i wonder what @StevesTruck is on about. The Timing chains / tensioners of the earlier 1.4 TSI,s were an issue. PS 1.8 & 2.0 TSI,s from the same sort of age are a liability, and that is to do with the timing chain among other issues. Bigger was and is not necessarily better.- Front Assist Faulty?
No real help to the OP those that fortunately have no faults. That is how they are supposed to be. Fit for purpose.- Bird poop/stain remover recommendation
First thing i do when i see bird poo on paintwork is put a wet tea bag on it. (You may well ask why, but because it softens it for removal with water.) It needs more than a bottle to wash off poo, like a bucket full.- Best chain for the CAVE engine
Not much issue with the CAVE. It is the CTHE the TPI covers. Tensioner and chain.- New Speed limiter
- Octavia vs Karoq
A MY25 Karoq will be 5 years worth moved on from a MY20, but is that anything for the better. There are new mandatory features. But the same now with a new Octavia or any other model.- Front Assist Faulty?
OT but the Covid Cars are hitting the Auctions and back into the car trade. Models build during the chip shortage and that had features deleted because of this. Personally these would appeal to me. Less crap to go wrong possibly. ? What Speed Limiter System has been fitted to the latest Mk4 Fabia from July 2024, just the simple Warning, not an Active One, more resistance on the accelerator or a cut in power over the posted speed limits?- Front Assist Faulty?
Get your report into the DVSA on the behaviour of the car & the actions being taken or not by the Suppliers or their agents.. If Dealership staff are saying a known issue the they know it is a safety issue for you are other road users. Skoda UK & Skoda Dealers put out new cars, have new cars PDI,d and out on the road and can not deal with cars they know are out on the roads and faulty. They need to remember the corporate responsibility. PS Be sure you have let Skoda / VW UK know though. In writing. They should be providing you with a loan car and getting your one off the road until fixed, as they should with every other with the issues. I hope you have the name of the person at the dealership that you spoke to.- Volvo EX 30 - Quicker, relatively cheap, proper EV styling without nod to ICE car looks
@Winston_Woof The 'Simply Clever' features people at Skoda / VW Group need a kick up the backside sometimes. Or rammed up the jacksy hard. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/524884-front-assist-faulty- Vrs
@Mark-d Be aware that some MOT Examiners do not know those are the sidelights. On less bright than as DRL,s. Some have failed vRS for no Sidelight/ Position lights as they think the Blue Dummy bulb in the headlight unit is a duff sidelight. Some have even tried fitting new bulbs to get the car a pass. Just forewarning you.- Vrs
@Mark-d More important it is the Sidelight when not on as a DRL. So needed to pass the MOT. Not required to be a DRL for the test. ? Are they working OK as the sidelights, or will they after this one fitted?- Akin 179
@Akin179 Welcome. Are you talking a 2.0 TDI or a 1.6 TDI, manual or DSG? I would swerve a 1.6 TDI, and probably a 2.0 TDI of that age. Also a 1.8 TSI. I would maybe look at a 1.4 TSI.- Is the Karoq 1.5 DSG any good
Which models / trim do you mean? Read the threads of those asking how to activate the Hill Hold assist because their cars did not have it or they thought they did not. Some might even be talking about a manual and not a DSG. I have only 1 foot, and have driven dozens and dozens of vehicles with a DSG over 14 years and not one has ever not had Hill Hold Assist. That is Diesels & Petrols and from 1.0 - 3.0 Litres.- 2015 Fabia 31.2 TSI 110 DSG - does this have Hill Hold?
@logiclee As we know the Skoda Brochures are sometimes wrong. Actually often wrong. eg Mk2 Fabia vRS do not have Front Fog lights. So if all those that say their Mk3 had no Hill Hold Control / Assist were just wrong then fair enough.- 2015 Fabia 31.2 TSI 110 DSG - does this have Hill Hold?
I suspect the difference is that there is no Hill Hold Assist, & no Autohold. It is a 1.2 TSI if that is what you have, low miles and a DQ200 doing as a DQ200 might do.- Is the Karoq 1.5 DSG any good
Not all Mk3 Fabia DSG do have Hill Hold Assist. Not as they are sold to the customer. There is a post yesterday in the section, asking if the members car has. The link is there from me on Activating the Hill Hold, other members posts / threads. Too often people assume because one model or year has something then they all have. Skoda charge extra for some stuff. It is there on the car, just not Activated at the factory.- Fabia vrs want to purchase
@xbox1964 yes why? You need all the help you can get from here or from a mate or garage that knows mk2 Fabia vRS. If you have not yet researched them then best start. - Tyre size and effects
